Chantz Hough officiated and burial followed at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Stahl died Feb. 5, 2004, at his home. He was born July 8, 1942, at Ithaca, Mich., to Richard Adrien and Thelma Mildred Eichorn Stahl. He graduated from high school and attended college for two years. Mr. Stahl served in the Army Reserves in Michigan for six years. He was a horseman, farmer and assembly line worker at Flex-N-Gate, Ada. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. Survivors include two sisters, Janet Davis and husband Ken, Ashley Mich., and Carolyn Struble and husband Tim St. Louis, Mich.; three brothers, Bill Stahl and wife Char, Jim Stahl and wife Kristie, all of Ithaca, Mich., and Jeff Stahl and wife Sharlene, Elsie, Mich.; nieces and nephews, David and Scott Davis, Tammy and Julie Stahl, James, Jason and Jerilea Stahl, and Samantha and Jake Stahl; best friends, Glinda Luman, Roff, and Kenneth Winters; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was born Sept. 10, 1939, at Harden City to Jack Cagle and Mary Helen Lynch Green. He attended school at Colbert and Byng and served in the U. S. Army Reserves. He transported race horses and later was a buyer and seller of used goods. He was preceded in death by his father, Jan. 22, 2004, and his mother, Jan. 29, 1985. He was born Dec. 10, 1921, at Francis. He was a member of South MacArthur Church of Christ. He worked in the Texas oil industry in the late 1940s and 1950s. He maintained private and instructor’s pilot licenses and also built and owned bowling establishments in Bowie and Ennis. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army-Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Whittington moved to Irving in 1963, where he was employed as a mechanical engineer at VANEC Industries from 1963 until his retirement in 1987. He and Mary Phyllis Watson were married in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1999. In addition to his wife, Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by a sister, Doris, and a brother, Lorenze Whittington. He married Rose Nell Anderson in 1946. She died in 1989. He married Francis Dunlap in 1992. Mr. Dunlap served in the U.S. Army in 1945 and was later self-employed as a carpenter, playing an active role in the building of the first water plant in Stonewall, which he ran for 10 years. He was also a musician and a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Nell Dunlap; three brothers, Clifford, Thomas and H.O. Dunlap; two sisters, Josie Hinkle and Fern Kuykendall; and two great-grandchildren, John Jacob Dunlap and Elijah Thomas Dunlap. She married Thomas Hooks in 1949. He died Feb. 27, 2002, at Ada. She was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Lee Hooks on Oct. 16, 2002, three brothers, J.B. Mahaffey, John Mahaffey and Loyd Sanders. He was born March 12, 1930, at Fort Cobb to Fred and Fannie Collier Kunze. He graduated Broxton High School in 1949 and lived in Fort Cobb for most of his life. Mr. Kunze relocated to Rush Springs in December 1976. He was a roughneck, a truck driver, and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He and Helen Florene Wilkerson were married September 1952 at Wichita Falls. She died Aug. 20, 1980. He later married Lela Roddy McConnell June 20, 1981, at Ada. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Kunze was preceded in death by his parents. She died Feb. 12, 2004. ========================= Sunday, February 15, 2004 COLIN MARSHALL HAY, New South Wales, Australia — Colin Leigh Marshall, 83, Hay, New South Wales, died Dec. 30, 2003, at a nursing home in Berwick, New South Wales. He was born Aug. 13, 1920, at Morrison, Victoria, Australia, to Doris and Robert Marshall. He attended Camberwell Grammar and Scotch College where he was a keen scout and later rover scout. Upon leaving school, Mr. Marshall joined the wool firm, New Zealand Loan. He continued to study bookkeeping and accounting at night school. He joined the militia and served in the Light Horse Brigade. He was a lieutenant in the 2nd/18th Armoured Regiment serving in New Guinea. After he was discharged from the army in 1946, he returned to work with New Zealand Loan. He transferred to Echuca and in 1950 to Hay as branch manager. In 1952, he became a partner in the GM dealership in Moss Street. During the next 32 years, he became the sole owner of the dealership and expanded the business to include the Mobil Agency Service Station in Lachlan Street. Mr. Marshall served on the former Waradgery Shire Council, Hay Hospital Board, Hay Picnic Race Club, Bowling and Golf Clubs and was superintendent of the Hay Voluntary Ambulance Service. He was awarded the Order of St. John Medal in 1975 for his work with the Hay Voluntary Ambulance Service. He helped form the bush fire brigade at Hay, and in 1966 he helped form the Rotary Club of Hay, becoming its first treasurer. He is a former Rotary president and district governor and a Paul Harris Fellow. He and his wife, May, were married July 11, 1944. She died in 1994, shortly after the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Marshall met and married Anita Floyd of Ada, Okla. He moved to the United States and lived in Ada for eight years, before returning to Australia in September 2003. Survivors include his wife, Anita Floyd Marshall, Ada, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Graeme and Norah; a daughter, Jo, and grandchildren Doug, Kate, Melanie and Ben; a brother, Ian, and sister, Wendy. --- HAZEL GEORGE BYARS — Services for Hazel Velma George, 79, Byars, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Byars Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was born May 14, 1930, at Dillard in Carter County to R.Q. and Bonnie Ray Rue. She came with her family to the Fittstown area in 1932. She graduated from McLish High School in 1948. She worked at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada in the obstetrics ward, and later worked for Dr. John Siegle until her retirement. She was affiliated with Trinity Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Ada Elks Lodge. She married George Howry May 14, 1948. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Rue; and her parents. Survivors include her husband, George Howry, of the home; a son, Steve Howry and wife Karen, Ada; a daughter, Nita Hasler, Byng; a brother, L.B. He co-owned Johnson Sand and Ready-Mix in Ada with his father, Robert L. Johnson. He worked as a construction engineer for the city of Muskogee, Okla., and the city of Lenexa, Kan. He served a brief time in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Bonita Johnson, of the home; sons, James M. Johnson and wife Lorna, Muskogee, Christopher B. Johnson, McAlester, Okla.; sisters, Barbara A. Johnson, Ada, Terri D. Denton and husband Steve, Shawnee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was born May 21, 1930, at Pecan Grove near Ada to Thomas Aaron and Lutishie McFarland Ross He graduated from Latta High School and attended East Central University, Ada. He began his career as a chef and then became a telegrapher with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Ada Fire Department in the late 1950s. In 1960, he began work as senior accountant and business manager for Morrison-Knudson Corp., a worldwide construction company, retiring in May 1992. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a 32nd-degree Mason with the Enid chapter and member of the Order of Eastern Star. He served in Europe, Germany, England and Korea while in the U.S. Air Force. He married Tommie Marie Wyche Ross April 23, 1955, at Ada. She died Dec. 25, 2000, at Ada. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Ross; and a son, Conla Aaron Ross. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Janine Ross, of the home; two sisters, Jean Ross Prater and husband Ward, and Delores Ross Agee and husband Tom, all of Ada; an uncle, Clyde McFarland, Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He lived in Ada until 1987, then lived in Texarkana, Texas, for 13 years, moving to Oklahoma City in 2001. Mr. Hunt graduated from Byng High School in 1980 and attended East Central University, Ada. He was a Baptist and self-employed in computer technology. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorene Forrester in 1979; and a brother, Anthony Lee "Tony" Rodgers, April 11, 2000. Survivors include Julia Krause Beasley; Brian Beasley and wife Sherita; Brooke Beasley, Brett and Brice Beasley, all of Oklahoma City; his parents, Auston Lee and Evelene Rodgers, Canadian; a brother, Thomas Rodgers and wife Kimberly, Canadian; a grandmother, Mildred Green, Ada; and a niece, Cecilé Rodgers, Canadian. Burial follows at Vamoosa Cemetery. Mr. Green died Feb. 15, 2004, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1928, at Meeker to Homer and Myrtle O’Neal Green. He and Patsy Lou Odom were married Dec. 5, 1982, at Konawa. Mr. Green lived in Konawa for more than 22 years, moving there from Ada. He served in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant during the Korean Conflict and was employed for 40 years as a station operating supervisor at OG&E, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the National Greyhound Association. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his father and other relatives and friends. He attended schools at Pauls Valley and came to this area in 1959 from McAlester. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the American Legion. Mr. O’Gwin was employed with the State Department of Transporation from 1940 until 1976, retiring with 36 years of service. He and Betty June Lewis were married Feb. 11, 1952. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in World War II from 1941 until 1945, receiving two silver service stars, a bronze service star, the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Distinguished Unit Badge. Survivors include his wife, Betty J. O’Gwin, of the home; a daughter, Betty Jane Nichols, Ada; a son, Gary Lynn O’Gwin, Ada; two grandchildren, Rachel Dawn Stinnett and Christopher William O’Gwin; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Sanford on Jan. 7, 2002, at Ada.
