Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, Irving. Mr. Jaquess died May 10, 2004, at his home. He was born March 12, 1911, near Willis, Okla., to Wilburn and Emma Cowen Jaquess. He attended Littlefield High School, Littlefield. He and Hazel Henrietta Hanks were married in 1934. She died Feb. 14, 2002. Mr. Jaquess was a builder and investor, and farmed in Littlefield. He and his wife returned to Ada in 1975 prior to moving to Irving in April 1999. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son Ronald, Oct. 8, 1961; five brothers, Hack, Royce, Rex, Curtis and Gerald; and a sister, Pearl Brandon. Survivors include three children, Bill Jaquess, Jean Eddy, both of Irving, and Lloyd Jaquess, Littlefield; a brother, Travis Jaquess, Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4869 and the American Legion Post 164, both of Tishomingo. Mr. Pennington died May 11, 2004, at Coleman. He was born May 13, 1947, at Madill to J.T. and Betty Baker Pennington. He graduated high school in Wapanucka and later attended East Central University, Ada, and Murray State College, Tishomingo. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict and following his honorable discharge, he married Janie Sandusky June 27, 1976, at Denison. He was a long-time resident of Johnston County and was employed at Lattimore Concrete Co. as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Janie, of the home; two daughters, Shasta Ferris, Bromide, and Amy Wilson, Edmond; a son, Alex Pennington, Tulsa; two sisters, Linda Ryan, Oktaha, and Ann Taylor, Tulsa; and a grandson. Mrs. Trammell died May 11, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 7, 1907, at Gerty, Indian Territory, to Oscar and Ida Gatewood Farris. She attended school in Gerty, and then moved to Louisiana for 40 years. She moved back to Allen following the death of her husband. She and Travis Ira Trammell Sr. were married Jan. 11, 1932, in Oklahoma City. He died Nov. 22, 1973, in Louisiana. Mrs. Trammell was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church since 1976. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a son, Travis Ira Trammell Jr. and wife Melissa, Campti, La.; a daughter, Debbie Murphy and husband Kevin, Montgomery, Ala.; four grandsons, Joseph Shane Anderson, James Chadwick Anderson, Travis Ira Trammell III and Richard Land Trammell; a great-grandchild, James Camden Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends at the Allen Nutrition Center. Barry Worcester officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. McCauley died May 12, 2004, at Ada. She was born Sept. 19, 1918, at Ada to William Davis and Gussie Blanche Medlock Cummings. She attended more than two years of business courses at East Central Teacher’s College. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for 20 years at the McBride Clinic and later for a number of years at Imperial Mud Company. She and Clarence Richard McCauley were married Jan. 8, 1939, at Knox. He died April 27, 1985, at Ada. Mrs. McCauley was a member of the First Christian Church’s Wimodausis Guild for many years and had also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary since World War II. She joined the National Secretaries Association, later known as Business and Professional Women, in the mid-1940s and remained active into the 1980s. She also belonged at various times to the Ada Historical Society and the Ada Writers Club, and has volunteered at the Ada Public Library’s Literacy Program and the Chickasaw Nation’s Library. She was affiliated with First Christian Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCauley was preceded in death by two infant daughters, born 1939 and 1940; her parents; and brothers James Davis Cummings and William Jackson Cummings. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Kay Morris and husband Prestley Dean, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Jane Crossland, Pleasanton, Calif.; and a brother, John Thomas Cummings. Mrs. McKinzie was a custodian at East Central University and retired after 20 years of service. She was a member of Reaper Baptist Church where she served on the board of trustees, usher board, church choir, missionary society and love ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Johnnie Seals; two brothers, Calvin Seals and Curtis Seals; and three great-grandchildren. She lived in this area all of her life, attending schools at Union Valley and Stonewall and graduating from Horace Mann High School. She and Herman "Mick" Scott were married Feb. 16, 1929, at Roff. He died Feb. 12, 1991. Mrs. Scott was a cook for the Union Valley and Stonewall schools, retiring with more than 25 years of service. She was also a founding member of the Union Valley First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Scott; a great-grandson, Jared Benson; three sisters, Myrtle Burns, Alta Adams, Esta Lee Scot; and two brothers, Bedford Forrest "Bud" Murphy and Adolphus Morris "Ballie" Murphy. LUNDGAARD ESCANABA, Mich. — Services for Frederick Elmer Lundgaard, 87, Ada, are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Escanaba. Mr. Lundgaard died May 13, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1916, at Escanaba to August A. and Grace Shirk Lundgaard. He attended school in Cornell, and Escanaba, and moved to Ada, Okla., in September 1970 from Antigo, Wis. He was a salesman for Bird’s Eye Veneer for 30 years and had also worked at Trader Mills, Ada. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1934-1938 and was a member of the Expeditionary Force in China from Aug. 2, 1935, until Nov. 8, 1937. He participated in the defense of the International Settlement, Shanghia, China, during the Sino-Japanese engagements from Sept.19 through Nov. 8, 1937. Mr. Lundgaard reenlisted Dec. 11, 1942, serving until May 24, 1946. He participated in the Occupation of China from Oct. 10, 1945, until Feb. 9, 1946. He was a member of the American Legion. He and Catherine Harvey were married June 14, 1947. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Neal Lundgaard and Louis Lundgaard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, ranking as private first class, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Betty Jo Ramsey, Molly Hill, Alma Green and Leona Bley; and two brothers, W.J. Mullins and Sonny Mullins. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church for 28 years and was a member of "The Clubhouse" support group. Mr. Ginnis served in the National Guard. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Asher. Mrs. Dudley died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at a care center in Denton, Texas. She was born Aug. 3, 1922 in Asher to William and Elise Wood Lowther. She married John Delbert Dudley on Oct. 27, 1939. He died Nov. 24, 1998. Mrs. Dudley was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, Texas, where she spent many years teaching children’s Sunday school. She also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include one son, William Dudley, Golden, Colo.; one daughter, Rose Mary Trevino, Denton, Texas; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John D. Mrs. Nix died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at a Durant nursing home. She was born March 2, 1916, at Pleasant Hill community, south of Stonewall to Jesse Frank and Lillie Alice Hough King. She lived all her life in this area, and graduated from Stonewall High School. She graduated from East Central University with a master’s degree in elementary education and home cconomics. She taught school in Eureka, and Pleasant Hill. She was later employed with the Department of Human Services in Coal County for 20 years. She married James Melvin Nix on Dec. 24, 1939. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1998. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and the Stonewall Methodist Church. Mrs. Nix was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Anderson, Stonewall and Jo Ann Nix, Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jeff Lee, Shelley Duncan, Jennifer Lee, Carrie Lee, Mandy Anderson and Charle Sutton; and three great grandchildren, Rhyle Sutton, Zoe Duncan and Anderson Duncan. He was born March 17, 1933, in Duncan to Coy and Violet Hardin Shortes. He and his family moved to Ada when he was 4 years old from Marlow, Okla. He attended Horace Mann and graduated from Latta High School. He attended the University of Oklahoma and East Central University and was a member of the R.O.T.C. Mr. Shortes owned and operated C & L Drilling and Well Service since 1970. He retired in 1993. He married Loretta F. Lawson July 11, 1952, in Ada. He was an active member of Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 50 years. He served on the board of directors of the First National Bank for 20 years and he served in the U. S. Navy from April 15, 1952, until February 20, 1954, aboard the cruiser ship U.S.S. Quincy. Survivors include his wife, Loretta F. "Weta" Shortes, of the home; two daughters, Debra Strong and husband Roger, Ada, and Kim Brashear and husband Maurice, Ada; four grandchildren, Jeremy Strong and wife Mika, Oklahoma City, Robin Baber and husband Heath, Ada; Brandi Holloway and husband Brad, Ada and Brynna Brashear, Ada; two great grandchildren, Hailey Baber, and Gehrig Strong; nephew and caregiver, Jeff Martin; niece, Doris Taylor and many other nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Marie Collins. She graduated from Ada High School in 1938. She and Julian "Big" Henry were married Aug. 14, 1940. Mrs. Henry owned and operated Beth’s Baby Land Store from 1969 until 1982. She was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a son, Dane Henry, July 27, 2001. Survivors include her husband, Julian "Big" Henry, of the home; two granddaughters, Lisa Nicole Henry and Jennifer L. Weise, both of Lake Jackson, Texas; a sister, Lorene Fuller, Ada; a daughter-in-law, Debbee Henry, Lake Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
