She died May 28, 2003, at an Oklahoma City hospital. Krien Funeral Home, Davis --- GLENDA VANDEGRIFF ROFF — Graveside services for Glenda Bragg Vandegriff, 80, Roff, are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Vandegriff died May 16, 2003, at an Ada hospital. She was born March 2, 1923, at Maud to Arthur and Bessie Ara Merrell Bragg. She attended Bowlegs school and graduated from Roff High School in 1941. She attended East Central State Teacher’s College from 1946 to 1947. In 1947, she moved to California to finish her education and to work. She returned to Roff in 1968. Mrs. Vandegriff was a member of the Church of Christ since 1939. She and Howard Wayne "Dink" Vandegriff were married in 1971. He preceded her in death July 17, 1974. Survivors include a brother, William Bragg, Pasadena, Calif.; and a niece, Maria Bragg, Pasadena. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Wright died May 30, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1918, to B.N. and Ada Heath Hunsucker at Ada. She lived in this area all her life, attending Willard and Horace Mann schools and East Central Normal School. She was a legal secretary for attorney Lawrence Green and a bookkeeper for Frank Dotson and Indian Hills Motel. She attended First Free Will Baptist Church. She and Jim Wright were married Aug. 16, 1942, at Ada. Survivors include her husband, Jim Wright Sr., of the home; a son, Jim Wright Jr. and wife, Marylyn, Union Valley; a brother, Austin Hunsucker, Rancho Cugomanga, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jim Wright III, Ada, Kim Godfrey, Texarkana, Ark., and Marc Wright, Byng; and six great-grandchildren. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Daniel died June 1, 2003, at his home. He was born Jan. 18, 1907, to Leonard Thomas and Alma Rose Daniel at Hennepin, Indian Territory. He attended Frisco schools and graduated from Frisco High School. He and his family came to the Frisco area about 1920 from Wynnewood. He graduated from East Central State Teacher’s College and was a teacher and coach in Kansas and several area schools. He taught school for 37 years, retiring in 1970. In 1950, he was a Pontotoc County State Representative candidate. He and Molcie Patton were married Dec. 23, 1931. She preceded him in death June 18, 2001. He was a member of the Stonewall First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Bright Star Lodge 113 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons for 72 years; a member of the India Shrine; Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a Scout Master for 10 years and a 4-H Leader for 25 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Estil "Tony" Daniel in 1964. Survivors include three sons, Lloyd Daniel, Healdton, Jack Daniel and Thomas "Pat" Daniel, both of Stonewall; one daughter, Shirla Sweat, Stonewall; one brother, Joe Daniel, Stonewall; one sister, Dixie Ingram, Norman; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was the owner of Barrett’s Cleaners & Hatters in Ada until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifelong member of the International Order of Odd Fellows. He and Ruby Lorene "Sis" Ferguson were married in 1935. She preceded him in death Feb. 1, 1963. He later married Etta Copeland June 17, 1972. Survivors include his wife, Etta Barrett, of the home; one son, Bill Barrett, Ada; three step-children, Kathryn Krebbs, Alan Copeland and Kayla Isaacs; seven grandchildren, Richard Barrett, Brett Barrett, Cindy Geiger, Bonnie Krebbs, Scottie Krebbs, Heather Copeland and Katy Copeland; and five great- grandchildren. Carl Hayes officiating. Mrs. Holderby died June 5, 2003, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1913, at Citra to Lewis and Lottie Crownover Threadgill. She attended schools in Citra, Round Prairie and graduated from Gerty High School. She married Chester Nickell on April 23, 1932. She later married Richard L. Holderby on Oct. 15, 1976. Both preceded her in death. Mrs. Holderby was an entrepreneur and a domestic engineer. She bought her first real estate at Ada in 1941 and her last in 1986. Her efforts helped develop the west end of Main Street and the southern end of Cradduck Road. Survivors include a son, Glen Nickell, Hanover, N.M.; a daughter, Reta Nickell Gadberry, Ennis, Texas; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great- great-grandchildren; a special grandson, Albert James and wife, Mona, of the home; nephews and nieces. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a teacher at Glenwood, Horace Mann and Hayes schools in Ada during a span of four decades. She and James H. "Jamie" Hunter were married June 1942 at Hugo. He died in 1989. Mrs. Hunter was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of Douglas Bible and Fortnightly Study Clubs. She married Ernest Johnson in June 1942 at Garvin County. He preceded her in death March 28, 1962, at Lawton. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Ada First Indian Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Johnson Jr. in 1964; her mother and father; a granddaughter, Sherry Johnson in 2002; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, David Alden Johnson, Ada; two daughters, Earnestine Nelda Gibson and Martha Jane Roles, both of Ada; three sisters, Vivian Postoak, Oklahoma City, Bernice Benton, Ada, and Madeline Davis, Shawnee; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She lived in Ada for several years before moving to Colorado. She moved back to Ada in 1999. She attended East Central State College and was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Ada. After moving to Colorado, she and her husband owned and operated a Hunting and Trail Riding Business. She married Joe Packard. He preceded her in death in 1988 in Colorado. She was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include a niece, Sherry J. She was a homemaker and owned and operated King’s Grocery in Stonewall from 1954 until 1977. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stonewall. She and James Austin King were married Nov. 14, 1938, at Shawnee. He preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1977, at Stonewall. Survivors include a daughter, Opal Staats and husband Ray, Wichita; and four grandsons, Sean Staats and wife Nina, Tomball, Texas, Karl Staats and wife Rose, Rion Staats and Noel Staats, all of Wichita. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Criswell Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. today. Dr. Stout died June 14, 2003, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1921, to Alonzo and Roxie Elizabeth Smith Stout at Wapanucka. He grew up in Allen and graduated from Allen High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in government and history and also a Master’s Degree from East Central University. He did graduate work at the University of Nevada and then returned to Oklahoma where he received his doctorate in administration and education from the University of Oklahoma. He was employed at General Motors and taught in public schools in Nevada, California and Oklahoma. He was a professor in the ECU Education Department and served as Dean of the Graduate Studies and Continuing Education at ECU. He served on Ada City Council for 20 years and as mayor of Ada for five terms. He was a member of the Ada Lions Club and was affiliated with a club of amateur Ham Radio operators. He was involved with the building of the Civil Defense Unit of Pontotoc County. He was a Certified Master Gardener, an avid photographer and an ambassador to the city of Ada. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry and later started flying and served as an education staff officer. He served in three wars, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He joined the National Guard in 1939 and went into the infantry for two years. From there, he went into the Army Air Corps in 1942. He and Betty Jo Hopkins were married Feb. 2, 1950, at Durant. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Stout, of the home; four daughters, Mary Roxanne Gilbreath and husband John, Broken Bow, Rayda Jo Santrach and husband JonPaul, Austin, Texas, Marta Allen and husband Steve, Midwest City, and Rhonda Medcalf, Norman; two sons, Kelly Stout and wife Tina, Norman, and Frank Stout and wife Janice, Ada; 15 grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews. Mr. Nail was a dry-wall contractor until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Tom Harrison, in 1981; and two great- granddaughters in 2001. He was born Aug. 6, 1902, at Denton, Texas, to Reese Lee and Ella Beatrice Jones Eubank. He attended schools in Texas and graduated from Terrill Preparatory School in Dallas, Texas. He and Juanita Wallace were married June 22, 1927, at Mexia, Texas. She died March 4, 2001. Mr. Eubank was a district superintendent for Atlantic-Richfield Pipeline Division in Houston, Texas, retiring in 1965. He came to this area in 1977 from Houston. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church as well as the Scottish Rite Mason in Houston. He was also an Arabian Shrine of Houston. Mr. Eubanks was preceded in death by a son, Command Sergeant Major R.J. Eubank Jr. in 1987, and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Rhynes and husband Willard, Ada; a daughter-in-law, Lotti Eubank, Copperas Cove, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. She was a lifelong resident of this area, attending grade school at Willard and graduating from Ada High School. She also attended Gulf Park College in Biloxi, Miss., and the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Haney was an artist. She studied with John O’Neil, Joe Taylor, Leonard Good and then with Hans Hoffman and Ernest Fiene, both in New York City. She also studied with Jerry Farnworth in New Truro, Mass., and was chosen to assist in his workshops in Sarasota, Fla. Early in her career, she exhibited in juried shows at Pennsylvania State Teachers’ College, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Santa Fe Art Museum, and by invitation at the La Fonda Gallery in Taos, N.M. Her work was awarded Best of Show at the Midwestern Artist’s Competition sponsored by Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo., in 1942. Ms. Haney was affiliated with the Episcopal Church and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norris B. Haney and John A. Haney. Survivors include two sisters, Tish Armstrong and husband Jim, Ada, and Patricia Haney Conkling, Fort Collins, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Stewart was a member of Southwest Church of Christ as well as the Pontotoc County Retired Teachers Association. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son, Brent Stewart, in 1994.
