Carl Hayes officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Lawson died July 31, 2003, at a local nursing facility. He was born Oct. 11, 1946, at Ada to Hubert and Ada Lee Murphy Lawson. As a child, he lived in Midwest City for 13 years, attending schools in Midwest City and later graduating from Midwest City High School. He trained and broke quarter horses and was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Johnny Lawson on Jan. 23, 2002. Survivors include a son, Tommy Lawson, Ada; a brother, Randy Lawson and wife Karen, Arlington, Texas; an aunt, Weta Shortes, Ada; three grandsons, Riley Lawson, Trace Lawson, Ty Lawson, both of Ada; four special cousins, Carla Murphy, Benna Sharp, Don Colston, all of Midwest City, and Billy Wayne Colston, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and numerous other relatives. She and her family came to Ada in 1908. She attended Rocky Chapel schools and graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1926. She attended East Central State College, receiving her Life Certificate in 1928. She began teaching at Pleasant Hill High School in 1929. She taught at Rocky Chapel, Lovelady and Steeman Schools. She retired from teaching in 1947 to become a fulltime homemaker. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ and was baptized at the age of 19. She and Henry Alvis Ross were married Feb. 23, 1935, at Coalgate. He died Sept. 7, 1989. Survivors include a son, John Eddie Ross, Silverton, Colo.; a sister, Dymple Coffey, Ada; and several nieces and nephews. Bearers are Curtis Ross, Mark Hill, Carmon L. Murray, Rickey Ross, James J. He was born Oct. 16, 1917, at Atoka to George and Bessie Curry Moffatt. He came to Ada from Hot Springs, Ark. He graduated from Atoka High School and served in the military during World War II in the European Theatre and the Korean Conflict. He was a real estate broker and insurance agent in Tulsa until his retirement. He was a member of Ada Elks Lodge #1640 and a member of Village United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark. He and Melba Chapman were married in February 1942 at Waurika. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Pete Moffatt and Harry Moffatt; and a sister, Peggy Garside. Survivors include his wife, Melba Moffatt, of the home; three brothers, Ray Moffatt, Tulsa, Harold Moffatt, Edmond, Bud Moffatt, Mabank, Texas; two sisters, Alice Gardner, Waco, Texas, and Mary McNeil, Ardmore; and brother-in- law and sister-in-law: Bill and Sheril Chapman, Ada. She then moved back to the City of Ada. She and Olan Ray Henderson were married Aug. 16, 1954. She later married Terry Welch April 22, 1977, at Seymour, Texas. She was affiliated with the Center Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Robin Welch; one sister, Teresa Shirley; and two brothers, James T. Stephens and Orel E. Stephens. Survivors include her husband, Terry Welch, of the home; a daughter, Debra Odell and husband Dwight, Fitzhugh; a son, J.R. He also worked as a tractor driver in the Kansas wheat fields for a number of years. Burial follows at Maxwell Cemetery. Mr. Golden died Aug. 16, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1913, at Ada to Henry Melton Golden and Lillie Francis Wiley. He attended grade school at Jones Chapel. Mr. Golden worked with his father growing up, hiring out teams to grate roads. At the age of nine, he began working in the oil fields, hauling oil field derricks and equipment and digging slush pits with horse drawn slips. During the war, he worked in shipyard. After retirement, he drove a mail truck and was a Green Thumb employee. He and Thelma Duncan were married Oct. 13, 1933, at Beebe. She died Nov. 6, 1987. He later married Mary Bell Abbott May 27, 1988, at Ada. He was affiliated with Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Golden is preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Golden; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Sanders; a stepson, Douglas Abbott; three brothers, Murray Golden, Melton Golden and Raymond Golden; and four sisters, Louise Sweet, Ruby Allen, Dorchie Booth and Bonnie Tilley. Survivors include his wife Mary Golden, of the home; five children, Gwen Jensen, Crowder, Jean Farmer, Sapulpa, David Golden, Galey, Margaret Summers, Pickett, and Glen Golden, Ada; two stepchildren, James Abbott and Curtis Abbott, both of Ada; a brother, Henry Lynn "Dude" Golden, Ada; a sister, Lola Hale, Plano, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandchild. He was born Nov. 27, 1915, west of Konawa in Pottawatomie County to Aaron Jackson and Bernie Forte McDowell Shirley. After high school, he attended Draughon’s Business College. Mr. Shirley was a long-time resident of Konawa before moving to Carrollton in January 2000. He worked for Roy Surber Motor Co., in Konawa for more than 15 years in the parts department. He also worked for Ada Auto Supply in Ada, Okla., for several years. He and Anna Lee Griffis were married Aug. 31, 1940, at Shawnee. Mr. Shirley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Petty Officer second class. He is preceded in death by his parents. Coffey, 95, Carrollton, formerly Ada, Okla., were 11 a.m. today at Lightning Ridge Cemetery, the Rev. John Haynes officiated. Mrs. Coffey died Aug. 16, 2003, at a Carrollton nursing facility. She was born Oct. 22, 1907, to C.W. and Mary Lou Richardson Nordean at Salem, Ark. She attended Roff, Okla., schools. She moved back to Texas in 1995 and operated a restaurant in Pampa, Texas. Later, she and her husband operated two motels in Dalhart, Texas. She was also a homemaker. She and Cleo Coffey were married Jan. 29, 1926, at Roff. He preceded her in death May 7, 1995, at Ada. She was a longtime member of the Baptist church. She was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. Survivors include a son, Cleo Coffey Jr., Garland, Texas; three grandchildren, Dan Coffey, Denton, Texas, Bob Coffey, Rowlett, Texas, Amy Coffey, Garland, Texas; and four great-granddaughters.
