Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. He died Aug. 14, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1940, at Gerty to Cecil and Lula Collins Huckeby. He graduated from Allen High School in 1958. He also attended East Central University. He was the owner and operator of the Kactus Steak House, and the original owner and operator of Sonic and Wafflers. He was a lifelong resident of Ada and served in the U.S. Army as an MP. He and Ruth Roark were married Sept. 27, 1963, at Fort Polk, La. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Huckeby. Survivors include two sons, Hondo Huckeby and his wife Becky, and Tony Huckeby, all of Ada; his mother, Lula Huckeby, Ada; three brothers, Dan Huckeby, Pauls Valley, George Huckeby and his wife Mary, Ada, and Dr. Ed Huckeby and his wife Trish, Broken Arrow; and two grandchildren, Jacey and Jesse Huckeby. She was born Oct. 23, 1925, at Stonewall to I. H. and Eula Cunningham Underwood. She lived in the Ada and Stonewall area most of her life and attended school at Wright City. Ms. Carter was a Community Health Representative for the Chickasaw Nation and a homemaker. She was a member of the Worship Center Church of God in Ada. She was preceded in death by a son, Troy Wayne Cherry in 1976. Mr. Nunley died Aug. 14, 2004, in Ardmore. He was born Dec. 14, 1963, at Oklahoma City to Elmer Elzie and Patsy June Chronister Nunley. He grew up in Davis and worked in the oil fields most of his life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Elmer and Patsy Nunley, Davis; three sons, Mitchell "Derek" Bowerman, Jeremy Keith Courtney, and Matthew Dustin Nunley, all of Sulphur; one sister, Lorraine Rose Rawls, Davis; and special friend, Donna Stewart. --- OLA E. HOOVER ADA — Services for Ola Edith Hoover, 91, Ada, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Central Church of Christ, Virgil Romine, Bobby Johns and Bud Ross officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Mrs. Hoover died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born July 14, 1913, at Foster, to Marvin E. and Alithea Oma Anderson Moore. She attended school at Union Valley and graduated as Valedictorian from Stonewall High School in 1932. She married Virgil William Hoover January 24, 1934. He died January 24, 1964. In the mid 1930s, she and her husband worked in California in the packing and transportation of fruit crops, they also owned and operated Hoover Grocery on 4th and Broadway from 1946-1950, and on 15th and Mississippi from 1952-1955. Mrs. Hoover worked for J.C. Penney and Buckelew’s Laundry in 1951, Malone’s Grocery from 1955-1956, and later, in 1956, she was the Matron for the Masonic Home for the Aged in Guthrie, where she worked until 1978, retiring as the assistant superintendent. Mrs. Hoover was an active member of Central Church of Christ, the Order of Eastern Star and past-president of the Ada Garden Club. She was an active volunteer caretaker for the Arboratorium at Wintersmith Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Millie Brown Moore; two brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include a son, Donald W. Hoover and wife D’Esta Dell, Ada; three granddaughters, D’Esta Donette Yeilding, Shrewsbury, Pa, D’Nisa Dell Simmons, Creve Coeur, Mo., D’Ann Dalee Allenbach, Edmond; two sisters, Rosa Babb, Concord, Calif. and Shirley Wyman, Oklahoma City; six great-grandchildren, Andrew Yeilding, Julia Yeilding, David Yeilding, Dillon Simmons, Katie Allenbach, and Lindsay Allenbach. She was born April 18, 1909, at Ada to Beecher B. and Margaret Jafe Dixon Howard. She lived in the Ada area all her life. She attended the Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School. She also attended East Central Teacher’s College. She married Odus Wilfong March 30, 1934, in Muskogee. He died January 5, 1972. She later married Dalton Sales August 1, 1973, in Ada. He died February 12, 1993. Mrs. Sales was a school teacher in the 1930’s, a homemaker and was a secretary for oil companies. She was active with the First Baptist Church. Ms. Shelton died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at her residence. She was born July 27, 1965, in Ada to Glen and Sharon Carmelia Colbert Shelton. She graduated from Byng High School in 1983 and later earned her bachelor’s degree in science at Cimarron College. She served in the U.S. Army where she retired after 16 years of service with an honorable discharge as 1st Sargeant. While in the army, she received many accommodations to include the National Defense Service medal, Meritorious Service medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement medal. She lived in several different areas, to include Seoul, Korea, Fort Sill, and Oklahoma City. She moved back to this area from Augusta, Ga. in 2003. She was also a member of the Philemon Baptist Church. Ms. Shelton is survived by her parents, Glen and Sharon C. Later in life she worked at Wrangler for several years, and then helped her husband Randall run their ranch. She married Randel Fairless Feb. 1, 1935, in Coalgate. She died Aug. 1, 2000. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ashland for over 60 years, and later the Coalgate congregation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Frank and Cora May Darnell Meaders; her husband, Randel Fairless; and a brother, Frank Meaders. She lived in Paris, France, with her family for three years before returning to Rochester where she attended and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1980. She and her husband have lived in Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. She was a potter, homemaker, an art student at East Central University and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada. She and Richard Wilkin were married March 3, 1990, at Rochester. He was a diesel mechanic for Albert and Harlow Equipment Co. until his retirement. He was a member of Ahloso Baptist Church and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with four Overseas Service Bars. Mr. Melville died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1925, in Ada to Leon and Bygimie Perry Melville. Mr. Melville married Margaret Jared July 10, 1947, at Wenatchee, Wash. He was a farrier, horse trainer and worked as an extra in the movie industry. He was affiliated with Lovelady Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1945. Mrs. Wilkin died Aug. 23, 2004, at a Rochester hospital. She was born March 8, 1962, at Rochester, Minn., to Bill and Eileen Harreld. She grew up in Rochester and attended St. Francis Catholic Grade School. She lived in Paris, France, with her family for three years before returning to Rochester where she attended and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1980. She and her husband have lived in Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. She was a potter, homemaker, an art student at East Central University and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada. She and Richard Wilkin were married March 3, 1990, at Rochester. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Mrs. Nickell died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1922, at Non to Virgil Berry and Susan Ellen Barnett Montgomery. She married Robert M. Nickell Oct. 5, 1940, at Centrahoma. He died April 23, 1994. They lived for a time in the Red Oak and Conway communities near Allen, moving to Wichita, Kan. during World War II. They later moved to central California and later to Long Beach, Calif., where Mrs. Nickell was a supervisor at Anchor Hocking Glass Co. until her retirement in 1971. They later moved back to Ada. Mrs. Nickell was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Lottie Young, Pearl Vance, Hazel Rush and Lucille Owens; two brothers, Burl Montgomery and Raymond Montgomery; three young siblings, Houston, Clifford and Orbra Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews. She also was a member of the Colbert Baptist Church since 1980 and a longtime resident of Ada. She and Ray Uhlich were married Nov. 19, 1928, in Stonewall. He died Aug. 20, 1999. She was preceded in death by a son, Chester G. Uhlich; a grandson, Kris Uhlich; 13 brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Joyce Uhlich, Ponca City; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Corky Wilson, Ada; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
