Charley Henthorn will officiate. Mr. Copeland died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1982, in Sulphur to Joe and Tami Diane Howell Copeland. He was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Vanoss High School. Mr. Copeland was a farmhand, a Christian and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his parents, Joe and Tami Copeland, Roff; his fiancee, Tara Schrag, Roff; two sisters, Marina Chew, Konawa, and Tricia Taylor, Lindsay; one brother, Robert Mink, Roff; his grandparents, Lawrence and Helen Howell, Sulphur; two nieces, Carlee Chew, Konawa, and Abby Chew, Konawa; and a nephew, Brayden Taylor, Lindsay. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Ray Copeland, on Oct. 1, 2001, and his grandparents, Ron and Freda Copeland. Criswell Funeral Home, Ada --- GLEN DEATHERAGE ADA — Services for Glen D. Deatherage, 83, Ada, are noon Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Tony Buck will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Mr. Deatherage died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born March 16, 1921, in Ada to Elzora and Laura Luttrell Deatherage. He lived in this area all his life and attended Vanoss schools. He married Amanda Perry in 1948. She died in April 3, 1994. He was a farmer and later was an employee with Evergreen Mill until his retirement in 1974. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Deatherage served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Saipan Islands. He was honorably discharged as a mess sergeant and staff sergeant for the 148th General Hospital. He received the APT Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and Meritorius Unit Award. Survivors include three sons, Monte Deatherage and his wife Cindy, Ada, Robert Deatherage, Temple, and B. J. Perry, Little Axe ; one sister, Thelma Ludecke, Gentry, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Shannon Deatherage, Ada, Jeremy Deatherage, Stonewall, Tim Deatherage, Stonewall, Teresa Perry, Ada, Reba Hamilton, Ada, Glennie Perry, Ada, Billy Phillips, San Francisco, Calif., Denise Guinta, New Jersey, and Gina Guinta, New Jersey; and numerous great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 1986 by a son, Edward Deatherage, in 1993 by a daughter, Beverly Escue, and in 2004 by a grandson, Kevin Deatherage. She was born April 16, 1913, near Glover in McCurtain County to Norman David and Laura Mount Butler. She came to Ada in 1990 from Asher. She married Therman Pettigrew Sept. 23, 1931. He died Feb. 4, 1990 ,in Ada. Mrs. Pettigrew was a grocery store clerk until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include one brother, one sister, nine grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons. Bearers will be her grandsons. Kevin Fisher officiated. She died Aug. 31, 2004, at Ada. She was born Jan. 13, 1950, at Holdenville to Pershing and Kathryn Rose Hardwick Wardlow. Mrs. Holman attended Holdenville schools and graduated from the Gordon Cooper School of Nursing. She was a nurse for many years at Holdenville General Hospital, Wetumka Hospital and Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah. She was also employed at Jan Frances Nursing Center at Ada. She received numerous awards for her dedication to the nursing profession. She married Roger Holman June 25, 1998, at Berryville, Ark. She was preceded in death by her father, Pershing Wardlow, her stepfather, Jack Morris, her maternal grandparents, Frank and Arlie Hardwick, and her paternal grandparents, James and Arah Wardlow. She graduated from Wapanucka school. She married Denzil F. Lowry on Oct. 31, 1944, at Oklahoma City and moved to Ada in 1946. He died March 4, 1992. The family later owned and operated Oklahoma State Bank until 1999. Mrs. Lowry was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Ada Garden Club. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Lowry, in 1980. He died Feb. 9, 1993, at Roff. Mrs. Gahagan was a cook for the Roff schools for eight years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church and the church choir. Mr. Sharp died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born June 29, 1949, at Shawnee to Ray and Luella Hutton Sharp. He graduated from Konawa High School in 1967, and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Central University. Mr. Sharp served as postmaster with Allen and was the Ada postmaster until his retirement from the U. S. Postal Service. After his retirement, he was a farmer and rancher in the Allen area. He married Ellen Thompson Dec. 25, 1997, in Allen. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 81 in Allen, and served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was discharged as lance corporal. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Sharp, of the home; two sons, Gary Sharp and wife Kala, Tulsa, and Lance Sharp and wife Alana, and granddaughter, Jessica Sharp, Paradise, Calif.; his parents, Ray and Luella Sharp, Konawa; four brothers, Bobby Sharp, Harrah, Max Sharp, Konawa, Jim Sharp, Konawa, and Bill Sharp, Oklahoma City; two stepchildren, Chris Thompson, Ada, and Candice James, Elmore City; six stepgrandchildren, Honey, Alaena, Taylor, Jacob, Allie and Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Ada, to Henry and Audrey Bray Sweeney. She lived in Ada all her life. She attended grade school at Irving and high school at Ada High School. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness church. She married J.C. Allen in Haskell, Texas. He died Nov. 13, 1983. Allen Jr. and wife Marcia, of the home; and Kevin Don Allen, Ada; one sister, Betty Ruth Wininger, California; one brother, Jimmy Ray Sweeney, Sullivan, Indiana; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rita McIntosh on March 20, 1984, and Martha Allen on Jan. 29, 1969; one brother, Henry "Buzz" Sweeney Jr. and one sister, Helen Bohannan. Doug Thatcher officiated. Mr. Whiting died Sept. 8, 2004. He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Ponca City to Perry and Liska Hunter Whiting. He attended Ponca City schools and graduated in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to the end of World War II in 1945. He later attended Oklahoma State University where he earned an engineering degree and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He married Barbara Jeanne Rose Oct. 24, 1954. Mr. Whiting lived in Ponca City and owned and operated Whiting Furniture with his father, Perry Whiting, for more than 40 years. He was a member of Ponca City PrimeTimers, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1201 and American Legion-Huff Minor Post 14. He served as an usher for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member.
