Jack Kemper officiating. Mrs. Bone died Sept. 28, 2003, at an Ada nursing home. She was born July 27, 1903, at Durant to Marvin and Maggie Armstrong Carter. She moved to Stonewall in 1991 from Garden Grove, Calif., to care for her sister. She attended school at Durant and Southeastern College at Durant. She retired as a school teacher in Oklahoma after teaching 18 years. She then taught for 23 years in California. She and Arch Bone were married July 5, 1927 in Durant. He died in 1949 at Waurika. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a nephew, Homer Roberts and his wife Louise, Stonewall, and other relatives. Criswell Funeral Home --- MITCH MITCHUSSON FITZHUGH — Services for Wendell F. "Mitch" Mitchusson, 85, Fitzhugh, are 1 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Steve Wilburn officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Criswell Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Mitchusson died Sept. 30, 2003, at an Ada nursing facility. He was born Aug. 3, 1918, at Pontotoc to B.F. and Betty Cunningham Mitchusson. He graduated from Schulter High School. He also graduated from East Central University, where he played basketball for coach Mickey McBride. He taught and coached at Latta, Ada Junior High, Roff, Fitzhugh for 24 years. He was also a dairyman and farmer for 38 years and also did custom hay baling. He and Juanita Cleghorn were married Sept. 26, 1940. She died Jan. 29, 2002. He was a member of Fitzhugh Baptist Church and was the first mayor of Fitzhugh when it was incorporated as a town in 1985. He was the fire chief of Fitzhugh from 1985 until 1987. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Mitchusson; and two grandsons, Chad Holman and Christopher Burnett. Survivors include a son, Ronald Mitchusson, Konawa; three daughters, Kay Holman, Ada, Brenda Cope, Fitzhugh, and Regina Burnett, Leavenworth, Kan.; a brother, Jim Mitchusson, Clinton; two sisters, Leona Patton, Morris, Sylvia Binns, Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She attended school at Maxwell and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with Pentecostal Holiness Church. She married Grover Tyree Feb. 6, 1932, at Ada. He died Sept. 12, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, David Todd and Danny Burk. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cusher and husband, the Rev. Dan Cusher, Ada, and Wanda Todd and husband R.C., Oklahoma City; a sister, Hazel Newby, Ada; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Dr. Lois Neal officiating. Burial follows at Highland Cemetery, Stonewall. Mrs. Brown died Oct. 2, 2003, at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1915, at Steedman to George and Elmina Leader Johnson. She lived most of her life southeast of Ada and attended school at Red Oak. She was a homemaker and member of Red Springs Methodist Church. She and A.D. Brown were married in 1936 at Red Springs. He died July 15, 1967, at Ada. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Murray, Stonewall, Alice Cozad, Ada; five sons, Leon Brown, Cromwell, Kennedy Brown, Alfred Brown, both of Ada, Louie D. Brown, Stonewall, George D. Mr. Hall died Sept. 30, 2003, at a Norman veterans center. He was born Sept. 7, 1927, at Lula to George Dewey and Nettie Mae Nickell Hall. He received a bachelor’s degree from East Central University in 1954. He earned a law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1958 and passed the bar exam in 1959. He was an insurance claims adjustor with Farmers Insurance for 13 years. He started practicing law in 1971 and also owned several race horses. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1640. He was active in the Democratic Party in Pontotoc County and had run for public office. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict with the 45th Infantry. He retired from the Army National Guard as a captain. He was affiliated with Abundant Life Tabernacle. He and Nancy Ann Butler were married in 1949 at Turner Falls. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Lee Clark; and a son-in-law, Glen Risinger. Survivors include three daughters, Helinda Ann Risinger, Moore, Suzanne Clark, Ada, Stacy Clarbour and husband Scott, Norman; three brothers, Dr. H.D. Dan Fullerton officiating. Mrs. Jaques died Oct. 5, 2003, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Jan. 8, 1936, near Webb, Miss., to Homer W. and Mary Frances Sorrells Ballard. She came to Ada in 1961 and attended grade school at Brazil, Miss. She graduated from West Tallahassee High School and from nursing school at Greenwood, Miss., as a registered nurse. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1961 and became a First Lieutenant. For a short time, she was employed at Valley View Regional Hospital in home health care. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as Clerk of Session. She was a lifelong Democrat and was a member of the Platform Committee of the National Democratic Party in 1988. She was active in the Wes Watkins campaign. She and Frank H. Jaques were married Nov. 18, 1960, at Ada. Survivors include her husband, Frank Jaques, of the home; two sons, Robert Jaques and wife Mary, and John Jaques, all of Ada; four brothers, Homer W. He was professor in the language arts and journalism department at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford for 15 years. He was a columnist for the Marlow Review and the Comanche Chronicle and authored a devotional book that was published in 1999. He was a Sunday school teacher and evening devotional leader at Southwestern Christian Church. He and Anna Louise Sturgill were married March 11, 1990. He was preceded in death by a brother, Monty Wayne Long, in 1970. Cowley-Krien Funeral Home ======================== Friday, October 10, 2003 BILLY RHYNES LEXINGTON - Services for Billy Robert Rhynes, 65, Lexington, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman, the Rev. Dale Kirkhoff officiating. Burial follows at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Norman. Mr. Rhynes died Oct. 7, 2003, at his home. He was born Feb. 7, 1938, at Corbett to Hartzell and Mary Tiller Rhynes. His family moved to Norman in 1947 from Corbett. He graduated from Norman High School where he was a member of the 1955 basketball state champion's starting five. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma as an ROTC officer and was on the Dean's list of honor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as Oklahoma Jaycee President in 1970-71 and as U.S. Jaycee Vice President in 1971-72. He received the Outstanding Oklahoman Award in 1971 and served on President Nixon's commission for hiring the handicapped from 1970-72 and on the commission for the Special Olympics of Oklahoma in 1970. He earned a certified life underwriters in 1974 and was vice president of American Security Life of San Antonio, Texas. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Order of Freemasons. He owned and operated Bill's Military Surplus from 1979-2000. He and Betty Green were married June 11, 1957, at Norman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Hartzell; and an infant son, Robert David. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; three daughters, Sherri Goit and husband Dan, Wanette, Cathy Chouteau and husband Mark, Noble, Rebecca King and husband John, Potomac Falls, Va.; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Jamie Goit, Braden and Britton Miller, Christi Thomas and husband Tim, Casey, Kelly and Billy Chouteau; and a great-grandson, Jeremy Hanger. Bearers are Mark Chouteau, Billy Chouteau, Dan Goit, Jacob Goit, Justin Goit, Jeremy Hanger, John Wells King, Braden Miller and Britton Miller. Honorary bearers are Bill Green, Larry Green, Jim Hunter, Dr. Satish Kumar, Duke Rhynes, Kenneth Rhynes, Allen Rose, Tim Thomas and the Oklahoma Jaycees. Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman. --- VIRGINIA GORDON MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Services for Virginia Mae Vaughn Gordon, 71, Memphis, were 2 p.m. Thursday at B.G. Boydston Funeral Chapel, Lindsay, Okla., the Rev. Rick Connelly and J.D. Bryant officiated. Burial followed at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay. Ms. Gordon died Oct. 4, 2003, at a Memphis hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1931, at Ada, Okla. She graduated from Ada High School and attended the Methodist School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1952. She worked as a registered nurse in Oklahoma until the family moved to Memphis in 1966. She continued nursing at St. Francis Hospital and Arlington Developmental Center for 30 years before retiring in 1996. She was a member of Kingsway Christian Church, the Church Circle Club, the Memphis Garden Club and several other church and social organizations and clubs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Clydia Vaughn. Survivors include a daughter, Debora Gordon, Memphis; a son, Douglas Gordon, Memphis; two brothers, Don Vaughn and wife Ramona, Purcell, Okla., Bailey Vaughn and wife Lisa, Meeker, Okla.; two sisters, Phyllis Rutledge and husband Larry, Dickson, Joyce Taylor, Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Seth and Leigh Ann Gordon, Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Memphis Human Society or the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. B.G. Boydston Funeral Home, Lindsay, Okla. --- LEON NEASBITT FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Services for Leon A. Neasbitt, 87, Fairfield, were Sept. 17 at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Hays officiated. Burial followed at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Mr. Neasbitt died Sept. 10, 2003. He was born June 5, 1916, at Coalgate, Okla. He graduated from Coalgate High School. Before entering the military, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Company 834, of Ada, Okla., who provided work at several national parks in the western United States. During World War II, he served on active duty with the 44th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in the European Theatre. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he pursued education. He received a bachelor's degree in education with a math major from East Central State College in Ada, and a master's degree in education with a math major from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. He taught at several schools in Oklahoma including Vanoss and served as principal of Sperry Junior High School in Sperry, Okla. He moved to Fairfield to become the head of the math department at Armijo High School in 1958. He later transferred to Fairfield High School to head the math department when it opened. He retired in 1981 after 31 years of teaching. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary, of the home; two sons, Paul Neasbitt, Pioneer, Brian Neasbitt, Vallejo; two brothers, Harding Hays, El Paso, Texas, Lincoln Hays, Edmond, Okla.; two sisters, Ruby Maher, Oklahoma City, Okla., Dovie Bowman, Sulphur, Okla.; five grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
