Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Williams died Nov. 5, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born May 6, 1943, at Galey community, west of Ada, to Henry and Nettie Nichols Williams. He lived in this area all his life. He attended school at Stratford Okla. He was employed with Brockway Glass-Owens Illinois for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, serving as Deacon for 34 years. He and Erma Ruth Sanders were married Aug. 27, 1960. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Williams; and his parents. Mr. Ward died Nov. 2, 2003, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Ada High School in Ada, Okla., in 1963 and completed his bachelor's degree through Ph.D. at MIT. He worked as a geophysicist in the oil industry for more than 20 years in Tulsa, Dallas, New Orleans, La., and Houston for Amoco, BP, LL&E, Burlington, and most recently Geophysical Development Corporation in Houston. From 1974 to 1982, he served as assistant professor and then associate professor of geosciences as well as director of the Center for Energy and Lithospheric Studies for the University of Texas at Dallas. He has also been a longtime and very active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. He is survived by Jean Ward, his wife of 27 years, his mother Lorene Ward, daughters Jennifer and Natalie Ward, son-in-law Michael Mulligan, brother Robert Ward, and other extended family members. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Leonard died Oct. 30, 2003, at Los Angeles, Calif. She was born May 25, 1936, at Ada to Martin Samson and Ethel Sturdevant Leonard. She was a graduate of Ada High School and attended East Central University and Indiana State, Indiana, Pa. She majored in music with a minor in chemistry. She later attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles where she received a chiropractic doctorate degree. She worked as a draftperson for Sandia Corp., in Albuquerque, N.M., and gained certification as an electromechanical engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Pasadena. After receiving her chiropractic doctorate degree, she opened a practice in Burbank and later moved her practice to Rosamond. Dr. Leonard was active in several community organizations, including her church, the Harpies, a harmonica quartet she organized and the Fine Arts Scholarship Fund she established in the Rosamond Women’s Club to raise money for high school seniors to further their education in the fine arts. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Glee McGuire. Survivors include three brothers, John Leonard, Martin Leonard and Dr. David Leonard; nephews, grand nephews, nieces, grand nieces, cousins and many friends. He was a draftsman at Forster Manufacturing and a draftsman for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was also an Indian artist and was affiliated with West Eufaula Baptist Church in Eufaula. He served in the U.S. Marines for 3 1/2 years, serving in Korea. He and Ruby Anderson were married in May 1961 at Pauls Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George Scott, B.B. Scott Jr., and Sandy Scott; and two sisters, Benita Scott, and Nancy Scott. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1938, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She belonged to the Tuesday Study Club, Eastern Star, WMU and Euterpean Music Club. She and D.C. Farr were married Aug. 12, 1930, at Ardmore. He died Dec. 18, 1972. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Don; a grandson, Kenny Turner; and a brother, Paul Ervin. Mr. Wilhite died Nov. 14, 2003, at a local nursing facility. He was born May 16, 1932, at Noble, Ill., to Harry Herman and Eva Gale Reaugh Wilhite. He came to this area on July 25, 1997, from Las Vegas, Nev. He attended grade school at Barlow District School and high school at Noble High School, Noble, Ill. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Merchant Marine. He was affiliated with the Methodist church. Survivors include three sisters, Elizabeth Catherine Maszk, Columbia, S.C., Eva Elaine Harper, Stonewall, and Betty Jeanne Schroeder, Decatur, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He moved to Overland Park from the Oakman community, east of Ada, in 1988, following the death of his parents. Mr. Johnson was affiliated with the Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Billy Nickell and Jerad Middaugh officiated. Burial followed at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada. Mrs. Nickell died Nov. 12, 2003, at an Amarillo hospital. She was born July 7, 1920, in the Lovelady community east of Ada to Robert Andrew and Roshie Roberts Sliger. She attended school at Lovelady and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. She was a homemaker. She married Olen James Nickell Dec. 22, 1938. He died Sept. 6, 1974, at Dallas. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy LaRue Nickell, on Feb. 23, 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Barnes, Amarillo; a son, Billy Nickell, Amarillo; four brothers, Willard Sliger, Robert A. Sliger, J.B. Sliger and Royce Sliger, all of Ada; six sisters, Arvana Hobbs, Vera Deaton, Edith Flowers and Jane Hatfield, all of Ada, Verlie Flowers, Oklahoma City, and June McCauley, Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Tammy Harvey, Charla Parsley, Felecia Middaugh, Andrea Daniels, David Morgan and James Morgan; and 10 great- grandchildren, Brad Harvey, Brandon Parsley, Jonathan Parsley, Kylor Middaugh, Javin Daniels, Natasha Parsley, Amanda Harvey, Megan Morgan, Ashley Morgan and Taylor Middaugh. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Wewoka. She and George R. Penick were married July 15, 1945, at Harden City. He died June 10, 2001. Survivors include two sons, George L. Penick, Jesse, and Bobby Penick, Tupelo; a sister, Elnora Smiley, Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren, Donielle Cantwell, Jeremiah Penick, Georgette Penick and Bryan Penick; and three great- grandchildren. Jim Adams officiating. Burial follows at East Hill Cemetery, Roff. Mr. Morgan died Nov. 13, 2003, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1912, at Fort Towson to George and Mabel Davis Morgan. He attended Roff Schools and graduated from Roff High School in 1929. He and Helen Kimbro were married June 6, 1937, at Wetumka. She died in 1967. He married Sue Tilden in 1971. She died in 2001. Mr. Morgan was a retired oil field worker and later owned a drive-in restaurant. He attended Roff First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Vance Morgan, in 1978; two sisters, Ruth Opal Morgan and Jewel Morgan White; and a brother, Tillman Morgan. Survivors include a daughter, Rita Pangborn, Oklahoma City; and a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Gladys Morgan, Ada. She attended school at Post Oak School. She and Guy Thomas Bittle were married Oct. 14, 1934, at Herber Springs, Ark. He died Feb. 26, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Martha Stark and Ethel Bittle; and a brother, Bynum Carr. Mrs. Bittle was a member of Post Oak Baptist Church. She came to the Ada area in 1934. Survivors include two sons, Harold Bittle, Fort Worth, Texas, and Glen Bittle, Mena, Ark.; a daughter, Joyce Holman, Ada; two brothers, Bob Carr, Greers Ferry, and Buel Carr, Quitman, Ark.; a sister, Jewel Defoor, Quitman; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
