Charles Henthorn officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until noon at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada. Mr. Wilson died Nov. 14, 2003, at his home. He was born Sept. 9, 1929, at Konawa to Robert F. and Lydia Coursey Wilson. He attended Vamoosa Schools and graduated from Vamoosa High School. He served as president and co-founder of WHB Inc. Pump Co. in Odessa, Texas, and Lovington, N.M., until his retirement. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner, and a member of Lodge 955 in Odessa. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Wilson returned to Ada three weeks ago from Odessa. He was a Baptist. He and Dorothy Dean were married Dec. 12, 1953, at Hobbs, N.M. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wilson, of the home; a son, Brian Wilson and wife Sharon, Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Gwen Hicks and husband Andy, Canyon, Texas; two sisters, Nelma Burns and husband Gene, Konawa, and Kay Straughn, Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren, Jessica Wilson, Erin Hicks and Drew Hicks. John Haynes officiating. Ms. Hoel died Nov. 7, 2003, at Santa Ana. She was born Oct. 23, 1914, at Roff, Okla., to Robert Lee and Chloe Marie Heathman Palmer. She lived in Ada most of her life before moving to California in 1995. She attended school at Willard and graduated from Horace Mann, both in Ada, on May 17, 1933. She was a bookkeeper for the Ada City Water Department, working from Oct. 3, 1944, to Dec. 31, 1976, retiring on that date. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ada, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for most of her life. She was a Red Cross volunteer and Lady Elk, by virtue of her son, Ronald Hoel. Survivors include two granddaughters, Lisa Conradi, London, England, and Terri Davis and husband Mark, Lynnwood, Wash. She lived in Ada most of her life and attended Latta School. She and Raymond Ellis were married at Ada in 1960. Mrs. Ellis was a home health provider and had also worked at the Stratford Nursing Home for 24 years. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Dale Thurman, on Jan. 2, 1969. He was born Feb. 11, 1923, at Okemah to George Oce and Bonnie Walker Labass. He graduated from East Central University with a BA degree. He worked for the U.S. Post Office as a city carrier in Ada and retired in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Ada Elks Lodge #1640 for many years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was affiliated with Southwest Church of Christ. He and Eula Mae Foxx were married Dec. 24, 1946, at Ada. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Vicki Lynn, in October 1976. He graduated from Oklahoma State University Technical School in fire protection. He was a retired fire and safety petroleum engineer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956. He and Coletta J. Hennessee were married Sept. 1, 1953, at Lawton. Survivors include his wife, Coletta J. Allison, of the home; a daughter, Kelley J. Isom and husband Charles A. Isom Jr., Ada; a son, Scott E. He was born May 19, 1910, at Salem, Ark., to Lindall William and Anna Catherine Wyatt Cantrell. He moved to Stratford from Oklahoma City in 1972. He was a retired employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a cable splicer and test board operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 118 and Eastern Star. He and Doris Guy were married Dec. 21, 1930, at Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cantrell, on Sept. 13, 1987; and two brothers, Roy and Frank Cantrell. Survivors include three daughters, Doris Ann Spriggs and husband Allen, Harrah, Cora Maye Haynes and Sammie Newport, both of Stratford; a brother, O.A. She lived her childhood life near Arpelar and attended grade school at Stuart. She graduated from Stuart High School and lived at Allen from 1928 to around 1950 and then moved to Ada. She worked at Fritz Johnston Hardware Store in Allen for 20 years and at Sugg Clinic office in Ada until her retirement. She was an oil field lease operator. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and during World War II, she helped with the Red Cross and bond drives at Allen. She was affiliated with Central Church of Christ. She and James St. Elmo Morris were married March 10, 1928, at Ada. He died June 5, 1968, at Kentucky. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lou Morris-Harbin; her parents, Samuel Rufus Mitchell, Lillie Mae Smith Mitchell; two brothers, Otis Ray Mitchell, Chester A. Mitchell; and three sisters, Zelphia Myers, Ima A. Smith, Marie Vedder. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Morris-Chiles-Chick, Allen; nine grandchildren, Robert Morris Chiles, Sandra E. Fox Funeral Home --- BOB PICKENS MILLERTON — Graveside services for Robert F. "Bob" Pickens, 78, Millerton, formerly of Stonewall, were Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Stonewall, Troy Ruffin officiated. Mr. Pickens died Nov. 12, 2003. He was born July 24, 1925, at Borough Valley. He attended school at Borough Valley and grew up in Borough Valley and in the Stonewall area. When World War II began, he traveled to California to work in the shipyards but was drafted into the Army. He served in Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was wounded. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. After being discharged from the military, he returned to California and worked for a rodeo contractor. He joined the Rodeo Cowboys Association and competed in bareback, bull riding and steer wrestling. He later owned his own drilling rigs and drilling wildcat oil wells and water wells. He worked for Brown and Root, constructing the Valliant paper mill and later worked for Weyerheuser. He and Charlene Truitt were married in 1951. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Truitt Pickens. Survivors include a son, Robert W. Pickens and wife Sharon, Stonewall; a daughter, Susan Virgin, Broken Bow; a brother, Bill Pickens, Stonewall; companion, Linda Watts and her son Justin, Rattan; and four grandchildren, Rusty and Everett Pickens, Stonewall, and Ray and Shanna Virgin, Broken Bow. John Bauch officiating. Mr. Lionburger died Nov. 15, 2003, in California. He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Ontario, Calif. He had lived in Camarillo for the past 35 years. He was a general commercial building superintendent for more than 35 years. Burial followed at Rosedale Cemetery. Mrs. McKeel died Nov. 18, 2003, at an Oklahoma City nursing facility. She was born Sept. 4, 1912, at Morganfield, Ky., to Anthony Lee and Sarah Whitecotton Redford. She worked for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in the mid-forties and later was the recorder for the Oklahoma State Legislature until 1952, when she moved to Ada and on June 26, 1952, married Judge John Boyce McKeel, a prominent political and military leader in Oklahoma for almost three decades. He died June 5, 1965, at Houston, Texas. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1952. She served on The Vestry, the Altar Guild and as church treasurer. She was an active member of Episcopal Church Women and was a founding member of St. Margaret’s Guild. Her many philanthropic interests included Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Ada City School Foundation Inc., East Central University Foundation, and Pontotoc County Courthouse. She was a longtime friend of McCall’s Chapel School and belonged to numerous bridge and coffee clubs in the community. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Calvin and Newman Redford; sisters, Sarah Redford and Margaret Lee Redford Baylor; and a brother-in-law, William B. Baylor. Bearers were Jim Hamby, Charles Mayhue, Denver Davison, Bill Walden, Tom Landrith and Dan Church. Honorary bearers were G.C. She moved to the Roff area before 1916 with her parents and resided there until 1942 when she moved to Ada. She was a homemaker and Avon representative for many years. She was a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada. She and Era Elmore "Buster" Patton were married Aug. 1, 1925, at Ada. He died May 7, 1951. She married Lulus Brackson Ferguson on Feb. 11, 1972, at Gainesville, Texas. He died Oct. 15, 1999. She was preceded in death by a son, Elmore Lavoyd "Junior" Patton; a daughter, Ona Lee Patton; her parents, John D. and Margaret "Pearl" Hudson; four brothers, Emmett, Ennis, Lowell, and Joel Hudson; and three sisters, Euna Coffey, Ina Ray, and Ona Coffey. She and Alvin Powell were married Oct. 5, 1940, at Purcell. He preceded her in death March 1991. She was a longtime resident of Roff and managed a ranch there for many years. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Demonstration Club and the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur. Criswell Funeral Home --- TERIE SMITH NORMAN — Services for Terie Lynn Smith, 48, Norman, formerly Ada, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangelistic Temple, the Revs. Tony Peak and Joe Howry officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Nov. 24, 2003, at a Norman hospital. She was born Sept. 4, 1954, at Ada to Thomas O. "Dude" and Lavonia Jared Deaton. She attended Byng Schools, graduating from Byng High School in 1974. She was active in Future Homemakers of America, Future Business Leaders of America and was a cheerleader at Byng High School. She later attended East Central University. She and Mike Smith were married July 19, 1984. Mrs. Smith was a volunteer for Reach to Recovery for the American Cancer Society. She was also active in a breast cancer support group at Norman Regional Hospital and received recognition by coach Kelvin Sampson at a University of Oklahoma basketball game as a cancer survivor. She was affiliated with Lovelady Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, T.O. "Dude" Deaton on Jan. 18, 2003; and a sister, Anita Meeks. Survivors include her husband, Mike Smith, of the home; two daughters, Brandy Johnson, Tulsa, and Shawna Linzy, Oklahoma City; her mother, Mrs. Lavonia Deaton, Ada; three sisters, Pat Coffey, Debbie Christian, both of Ada, and Mary Reynolds, Allen; and a brother, Odell Deaton, Ada. Bearers are Tommy Deaton, John Hoff, Tim Green, Robert Sershon, Michael Johnson and Thomas Reed.
