He married Sherry Lynn Thurmanat the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church, Shawnee, June 26, 1965. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada. Mrs. Collier died Oct. 1, 2005, at Tulsa. She was born Oct. 5, 1920, at Stonewall, to C. F. and Minnie Burnett Billings. She lived in the Stonewall and Ada area all her life, graduating from Ada High School in 1938. She also attended East Central University. She married Carroll Collier Jan. 17, 1942. He died Aug. 25, 2000. Mrs. Collier was a homemaker, and an active member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and she worked in the children's department and Bible School. She was also a Den Mother in Cub Scouts and worked with the Campfire Girls. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Collier, Tulsa; two sons, Don Collier, Caney, Kan., and Terry Collier, Tulsa; a sister, Betty Zanola, Norman; and five grandchildren, Lynn Kavulich, Richard Taliaferro, Kathy Collier, Amber Collier and Ashton Collier. Clagg Funeral Home ============================================================================== Wednesday, October 05, 2005 BILL ROBERTS TECUMSEH - Services for Bill Roberts, 73, Tecumseh, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Church of Christ, Brett McKnight and Bob Anderson officiating. Burial follows at Tecumseh Cemetery. Mr. Roberts was born April 15, 1932, at Adell, to Pryde Merritt and Rollo Mae (Burlison) Roberts. He started first grade at Tecumseh, and was a 1950 graduate of Tecumseh High School. While in high school, he participated in football, track, boxing and FFA. He then attended Poteau Junior College for one year and transferred to East Central State College in 1951 on a football scholarship. Following his military service, he resumed his education at East Central in January of 1955, where he played football for the East Central Tigers once again and graduated in January of 1957. He served with the U.S. Army at Korea from November of 1952, until September of 1954, where he received a Purple Heart. Following his military service, he entered the Army National Guard. He received his Lt. Commission in 1962 and retired in 1992 as a Captain in the Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry Division. He married Jody Whitsett in October of 1952. He taught and coached at Tecumseh High School for several years and in 1961, he taught at South Rock Creek one semester after the new building was completed. At the beginning of the 1964-1965 school year, he became principal and served in that position until his retirement Dec. 31, 1987. He also preached for the Church of Christ for 28 years and served as the pulpit minister in Tribbey for seven years and then in Earlsboro from 1966-1994. Mr. Roberts was a past president and active member of the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association; the American Legion; a founding member of the Tecumseh Roundup Club; Oklahoma Educators Association; Pottawatomie County Retired Teachers Association; and actively involved as a surrogate parent at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center, where he also served as a mentor and a Citizen Advisory Board member. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Cade Lozano; and two sisters, Theresa Shirey and Alma Logsdon. Mr. Turpin was a rancher, an oilfield pumper and was employed with Brockway Glass Company for 28 years. He served in the U. S. Army from 1959 until 1963. He attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from East Central University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was president of Gifford Monument, Ada. Mr. Gifford was a certified memorialist, a member of the Monument Builders of North America, past president of Monument Builders Mid- America, a member of American Institute of Commemorative Art, a past member of the Ada Chamber Board, and a member of the Ada Lions Club. He was also a member of First Christian Church, Ada. He married Debi McGalliard June 11, 1976, at Ada. From 1963- 1975 he was professor of education, registrar and provost at Wayne State College, Wayne, Neb. In 1975 he moved to Victoria, Texas, to help open the University of Houston-Victoria campus and was professor of education there until his retirement in 2000. He married Ruth Osborne May 30, 1947. They moved to Ada in July, 2005. In 1954, Mr. Watts purchased a well servicing machine and operated it for many years. He later purchased oil wells and operated them for himself. In 1983, Mr. Watts retired from pumping oil wells.
