John Haynes will officiate. The private burial will preceed the funeral service. Mr. Free died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born June 25, 1907, in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, to John H. and Etter Riley Free. He came to this area in March 1946 from McAlester. He received a G.E.D. and also attended business college in McAlester and Southeastern State University in Durant and East Central University in Ada for three years. He married Edna Williams Oct. 25, 1942, in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Free was a barber in Ada and later an insurance agent with Paul Revere Life Insurance Company from 1950 until 1988. He was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1948, a member of Ada Lodge 119 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, member of the Masonic Fraternity, Past Master of Ada Lodge, and a 33 degree Mason, and a member of the McAlester Scottish Rite 330. He was also a volunteer at Valley View Regional Hospital with 2,700 hours of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II with the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific. Survivors include his wife, Edna Free, of the home; two daughters, Peggy Wilson, Kansas City, Kan., and Delores Theis, Bartlesville; two sons, John Free, Pawhuska, and Philip Free, Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Orella Harden and Mary Emma Bristow, both of McAlester; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Free. Mrs. Ingram died Jan. 31, 2005, at a Shawnee care facility. She was born Nov. 22, 1907, in Pontotoc County to William T. and Mary Oliver King. She attended Eubanks School. She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of the Ada area. She attended First Free Will Baptist Church. She married Jack Ingram Oct. 24, 1925, at Stonewall. He died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Edith Ingram; her parents, William and Mary King; three brothers and three sisters. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Kessler died Monday, January 31, 2005, at a Cleveland nursing home. She was born August 18, 1921, at Wapanucka, Oklahoma, to A. J. Harper and Maud Shumard Harper. She attended school at Wapanucka, and graduated from Wewoka High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma, in 1939. She attended East Central State College in Ada for two years. She stayed at home with their son and also helped her husband with his home building business. She was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She married Cecil Leroy Kessler on June 13, 1942, in Wellington, Kansas, and they moved to Ada in 1956 from Chandler, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She was a long time resident of Ada until she moved to an assisted living facility in Sand Springs, Oklahoma in July 2003 to be closer to her son. She is survived by her son, Dr. James C. Kessler and his wife Dee, Cleveland; two grandchildren, Sarah Wolfe and her husband Chad, Overland Park, Kansas; Adam Kessler, Tulsa; 2 step- grandchildren, Kali and Matthew Holland, Cleveland; one brother, John Calvin Harper, Park Hill, Oklahoma; one sister, Nannie Lee Culver, Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Leroy Kessler, parents Adolphus J. Harper and Maud Shumard Harper, three sisters, Cecil, Linnie and Blanch, and two brothers, Earl and Leon. She married John Rottengaber. He preceded her in death. She later married Ray Winward, who also preceded her in death. He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Ada to John and Nora Reecer Grissom. He graduated from Ada High School. Mr. Grissom married Barbara JoAnn Matteson in 1963. She died Feb. 24, 2000. He was a mechanic for Remington Arms Company in Ada, retiring in 1990. Mr. Grissom was a member of the River of Life Church and he served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and also in the Merchant Marines. Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Burnett and husband Ron, Francis and Lois Edgin, Marshfield, Mass.; a brother, Harley Grissom, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael Burnett, Seminole, Ryan Edgin, Marshfield, Mass., Ian Edgin, Marshfield, Mass, John Burnett, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Aaron Edgin, Marshfield, Mass; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Harris was employed with Ada Heating and Air for 10 years, self-employed for eight years as a plumber, Bemax Supply Company for 10 years and three years with the Byng school maintenance department. Hanks, 77, Archer City, Texas, will be held at a later date under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home, Archer City. He died Feb. 1, 2005, at a Wichita Falls, Texas hospital. Mr. Hanks was born April 20, 1927, to Wince M. and Sybil Harris Hanks in Calvin, Okla. He attended school in Calvin until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a scuba diver and mine sweeper. After his tour of duty, he returned to Oklahoma where he met and married Marjorie Lee on June 1, 1947, in Holdenville, Okla. He owned and operated Hanks Bit Service in Holdenville and Ada, Okla, from 1959 until moving the business to Archer City in the late 1980s. He was a member of Ada First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Ira Jones Post 198 of the American Legion in Archer City and a 32nd degree Mason. He moved to Ada in 1991 from Sasakwa, where he attended Sasakwa Assembly of God Church. Mr. Holtman owned and operated Holtman Tank Trucks for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He married Loretta Rae Barnes Nov. 24, 1964, at Pampa. She died May 14, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his father, Luther Holtman. He married Joan Bailey Dec. 4, 1954, at Ardmore. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Harris Clark, C.C. Clark, Leslie Clark and Maurice Clark. He was of the Mormon faith and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the U. S. Army and was also a carpenter, farmer and laborer. She later married John B. Newman Dec. 22, 1985. He died March 12, 1999. She worked in retail sales and retired from The Clothes Corner in 1987. Previously, she was employed by Mister J’s and Stevens. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, John W. Young, Jr., Tampa, Fla., and Jerry D. Young, Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Janet A. Mr. Matthews was a carpenter and for the last three years, was employed with the Housing Department of the Chickasaw Nation. He was of the Pentecostal faith. She was born Dec. 15, 1923, at Beebe, Okla., to Ira and Louisa Thomas Pinley. She lived in this area all her life and attended school at Worstell and Vanoss. She also attended East Central University. Miss Pinley was employed at Valley View Hospital, was a bookkeeper for Don Owen Trucking for 26 years, Arrow Pump and Supply, Robert S. Kerr Research Lab and the Department of Human Services in Ada. She was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy, serving as church clerk and Sunday school teacher for many years, and also served in many other positions at the church. She was active with the Texhoma Christian Camp, assisted in securing housing for low income senior citizens and was appointed to the Counsel for Aging by President Lyndon Johnson. After service with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950, where he was president of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and a member of Square and Compass. He was a life member of the “Eyes of Texas Club,” the Ex-Student’s Association and “A Friend of Alec.” He was also a member of the Littlefield Society, UT Presidents Association, the College of Engineering Foundation Advisory Council, Executive Committee of the Chancellor’s Council and representative of the Engineering Foundation Advisory Council of the Ex-Student’s Association. Mr. Herring was honored as a Distinguished Engineering Graduate of the University of Texas College of Engineering, and was granted an honorary membership into the Kappa Chapter of Pi Epsilon Tau. He is the donor of the J.H. Herring Centennial Professorship in Engineering and part donor of the David Ford-Jack Herring Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Engineering. Mr. Herring joined Marathon Oil Company in 1950 as a junior petroleum engineer at Bay City, Texas, where he progressed through positions as field engineer, district engineer, production foreman, superintendent, and district superintendent. In 1962, he became assistant division superintendent of pperations at Houston, and the following year, he was transferred to the general office in Findlay, Ohio, as senior production advisor. He returned to Houston in 1965 as operations manager of the Houston Production Division, and in 1967, was transferred back the general office in Ohio where he advanced to coordinating manager of production operations, United States and Canada. He was elected vice president in 1969. After a brief period of responsibility for employee relations in 1969, he returned to production later that year as vice president, production operations, United States and Canada. In 1972, he assumed the position of vice president, marketing, United States. He was elected to the board of directors in 1974, and in 1977, he was elected senior vice president, Production, United States and Canada and a member of the executive committee of Marathon Oil Company. During the course of his distinguished career, he graduated from the Advanced Management Program of Harvard University Business School and later served on its advisory council. Mr. Herring was a member of the 25 Year Club of the American Petroleum Institute, the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and Society of Petroleum Engineers. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association, Southwestern Legal Foundation, Independent Producers Association of America and an associate member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He was born Feb. 26, 1945, at Carnegie to Joe Otis and Colleen Highwalker Coltz. He received his General Equivalency Degree from Byng High School in 1976. He moved to this area from Anadarko in 1967. He worked in environmental maintenance for many years, and was affiliated with and helped established Dixon Chaple. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Colleen Coltz; and a son, Damion Coltz, Connerville. He married Dollie Sanner Morris on May 31, 1980. He was born June 30, 1911 at Roff, Oklahoma to Edward P. and Ida Hughes Tingle. He graduated from Roff High School and attended East Central University for three years and Oklahoma A. & M. for one year. He moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1941. Mr. Tingle married Alma L. Price on December 11, 1929. She died September 13, 2002. He was employed in aircraft production for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas, retiring July 6, 1973. He moved back to Roff after his retirement. Mr. Tingle was a member of the Roff United Methodist Church, a member of the Roff Masonic Lodge and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include one son, Ed Tingle and his wife Maxine, Roff; two grandchildren, Edward Price Tingle, Jr., Grand Prairie, Texas and Lezlie T. He was born March 5, 1935 in Allen to Edgar and Edna Fuller Trivitt. He lived most of his life in the Allen and Ada area and attended school at Allen. He married Vonda Reeves in 1987. Mr. Trivitt was a Supervisor for Idle Time Campers in Allen and for the last 20 years was owner and operator of Trivitt Custom Cases. Mr. Trivitt was also a steel guitar musician with the Country Lancers Band. Survivors include his wife, Vonda Trivitt, of the home; two sons, Curtis Trivitt and wife Karen, Lake Dallas, Texas and Donnie Trivitt and wife Mary of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Hugh Trivitt and wife Ann, Meridian, Mississippi and Dennis Trivitt, Oil Center, OK; one sister, Helen Myers and husband Sam, Las Molinas, California; and three grandchildren, Holly Trivitt, Katie Trivitt and Kelsey Trivitt. Barringer, 91, Richmond, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilson & Kratzer Mortuary - Chapel of the Mission Bells, San Pablo, Calif. A graveside service follows at Rolling Hills Memorial Park. Mr. Barringer died Feb. 19, 2005, at Beaverton, Ore. He was born Aug. 22, 1913, at Ada, Okla. Mr. Barringer helped charter Ada Boy Scout Troop 13 in 1938. With his brothers Bill and John, he owned and operated B & G Grocery at 14th and Rennie. He joined Ada Masonic Lodge in 1940. During his 65-year career, he served as master of the San Pablo Lodge in 1958. Mr. BARRINGER played football and wrestled at Ada High. He also earned All- State honors in football at Amarillo High School and was an All-Conference guard at Murray Junior College in Tishomingo. He served in the Navy Seabees at Guam during World War II. After his discharge, he moved to Richmond and owned several meat markets in the area. He started the first Boy Scout troop in San Pablo in the late 1940s. He also had been a member of Scottish Rite since 1950, and taught Sunday school at San Pablo MacArthur Villa Baptist Church. He was married to Bonnie Bird Baskett Barringer for 64 years. She died in 2004. Survivors include a son, Dan A. Barringer and his wife Bonnie Lynn, Oregon; two grandchildren, Nikki Castoe and Jamie Monday; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Tessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She married Tom Price Dec. 15, 1935. He died March 27, 1986. Mrs. Price was a homemaker and later, she worked in the housekeeping department at Valley View Regional Hospital. Her job included making air line panels and helping build space shuttles. She was a licensed beauty operator for four years. She lived in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1943-1973. She was affiliated with the Trinity Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star and Rebecca's. A memorial service performed by Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, "Billy Don" William Slaven; a brother, David Wauson; and a sister, Annie Arnett.
