She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He moved back to this area in 1957 from Irving, Texas, and worked for 20 years for Sears in appliance repairs later was Service Manager. Following retirement from Sears, he was self-employed as an appliance repairman. Mr. Nuner was a longtime active member of Fittstown United Methodist Church. He was a member of Lord's Herd with area ranchers, selling calves and donating the money to go toward church activities. He married Grace Ralston Jan. 24, 1948. He was preceded in death by a brother; and a sister. Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Smith died June 5, 2006, at a Tulsa hospital. He was born June 20, 1916, at Lula, to Ruben Edward and Cora Bell Davis Smith. He grew up in the Lula/Ada area and in 1936 began teaching at Rocky Point Schools near Lula, in Coal County. He taught there for seven years and began teaching at Owl Creek in 1943. Mr. Smith married Roberta Hope Goff Oct. 3, 1940, at Stonewall. He later taught at a small school called Durant, in Okmulgee County, where he taught for six years. From 1950-1967, he was superintendent and a teacher at Hoffman and Grayson Schools. He then went to the Community Media Service Center at Okmulgee, where he served as director from 1967-1970. In 1971 he was superintendent at Wilson School in Okmulgee County, and from 1971-1981 he was the director of Deep Fork Community Action, Okmulgee, where he was responsible for implementing the meals-on-wheels program, as well as many others. Mr. Smith retired in 1981. He was a member of the Morris United Methodist Church and the Morris Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope; his parents; a son, Dennis Edward Smith; a grandson, Davie Jess Smith; a brother, Burtis Smith; and a sister, Amy Glover. Jack Kemp officiating. He was born in 1921 at Lodi, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. As a member of the swim team, he excelled in diving and breast stroke competition and held the record for the latter at the University for many years. After receiving his bachelor's degree, he served as a fighter pilot with the Marine Air Force in the Pacific War zone in WW II where he was shot down in 1944. He later returned to duty during the Korean War where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and retired as Lt. Col. After his service in World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Flickinger followed his career as a commercial pilot while he and his wife, Dixie, bred and trained quarter horses in California, Mississippi and Ada. They established the JD Ranch at Ada and in the latter years of ownership, raised brangus cattle. After serving as executive pilot for several companies, he joined the original group of pilots for Federal Express. When he reached the age of ineligibility for commercial pilots, he remained with the company to train their new pilots. He retired in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Norman Flickinger and Bertha Flickinger. Mr. Lloyd died June 1, 2006, at Midland. He was born May 14, 1940, at to Max Howard and Margarette "Snooks" Burnett Lloyd Furner. He attended school at Washington Elementary, Ada. He and his family moved to Odessa, where he graduated from Odessa High School. He attended Odessa College and East Central State Teachers College, Ada. Mr. Lloyd worked in the circulation department of the Odessa American for several years before going into broadcasting in 1961. He started his radio career at Ada at KADA. He later worked for KRIG, Odessa, prior to helping create KNFM-KNAM, until 1980 when the station was sold. At KNFM, Lloyd appeared on "Breakfast a la Carte," a morning show where he teamed with Mike McLaren as "Mike on the Left, Max on the Right" in stereo. He worked with McLaren to create award- winning musical specials on jazz and Big Band history. Lloyd also served as marketing director for Western State Bank and held other sales and on-air positions prior to his retirement. His signature sign- off to all his broadcasts was "Music is my business." Lloyd was an active volunteer for West Texas Jazz Society, Midland Community Theatre and Maverick Players. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an uncle, Buddy Burnett. She received a bachelor's degree from East Central State Teachers College and later received a master's degree in education from Northeastern University, Tahlequah. Mrs. Hickman was a school teacher from 1928 until 1972. She taught at Fobb school in Marshall County for 21 years, later at Wagoner school for 12 years and Delaware school in Nowata County for 11 years. She returned to Ada in 1974. Mrs. Hickman was a member of the Ada First Baptist Church, and a past worthy matron in the Order of Eastern Star. She married Robert Hickman in 1926. He died June 16, 1979. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam H. Singleton and Joe Singleton; and five sisters, Nettie Gararro, Minnie Sprouse, Willa Mae Dillman, Margie Farber and Clara Nell Montgomery. Survivors include a sister, Ida Wilson, Ada; a brother, Henry Singleton, Ada; and a half-brother, Bill Sneed, Ontario, Calif. Mrs. Davis graduated from Roff High School and lived in the Ada area for many years, until moving to Ravia in 1998. She worked as a detainment officer and dispatcher for the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, and also worked in the floral shop at Dicus Food, Ada, as a bartender at the Coach Light nightclub, for Wrangler Factory, Look, Inc., and Aerotech Airplane Parts, all at Ada. She attended Ravia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Wayne Snow; stepfather, James Monroe Hurley; grandfather, Ellick Cape; grandmother, Gladys Cape; and uncle, Junior Cape. Survivors include her parents, Joe Ray and Mary Lou Cape Gastineau, of the home; sons, Chris Walker, of the home, and Brian Cobb, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.; a sister, Leeann Brown, Ivanhoe, Calif.; brothers, Albert Hurley, Ada, Bobby Snow, Texas, Wayne Hurley, Fitzhugh, and Wesley Snow, Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brianna Cobb, Katelyn Cobb and Dillon Cobb; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Brashier married Warren E. Brashier March 5, 1946, at Tishomingo. She moved to Stonewall in 1999, from Paris, Texas. She served as an election judge and spent time as a substitute teacher. She was affiliated with the Methodist church. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Brashier; a sister, Martha Bet Hutchison; two brothers, Dean Lafevers and Bernard Lafevers; and her parents. She attended Kiowa schools and Hills Business College, Oklahoma City. She married William C. Ratliff in 1949. He died April 9, 1999. Mrs. Ratliff was employed with Farmer's Home Administration for 34 years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Poteet. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Boatwright and husband Dale, Ada; a son, David W. Ratliff, Bryant, Ark.; a granddaughter, Mindy Ahrend and husband T.
