Houston Tiger officiating, interment will followed at Rosewood Cemetery, Achille, Oklahoma. Wake services were held Friday Evening at Sand Creek Eufaula. Mr. Henry died Nov. 26, 2007 at the age of 18 in Oklahoma City. He was born May 12, 1989 to Daniel Spencer and Catherine Denise Henry Gosvener. He attended Ada High School and was saved at the Ada Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Henry was employed as shop foreman for Oklahoma Core Supply Co. He enjoyed motorcycles and spending time with his fiancé, step- daughter, and his family. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Debby Huynh. Survivors include by his parents Altus and Catherine D. Gosvener, OKC; his father Daniel Spencer, Shawnee; three brothers - Tommy G. Beaver, Thompson L. Beaver, and Tyson D. He was born July 3, 1930 at Marlow, Oklahoma to Ed and Maggie Hunt Price. He attended Cedar Grove and Francis schools and graduated from Francis High School. He married Barbara Chism on March 10, 1951. Mr. Price retired from Remington Arms as the lead mechanic with over 21 years of service. He was a longtime active member of the Byng Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Price served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid gardener, a stock car enthusiast, and a Christmas Light Decoration winner for several years. Mr. Whiten died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at a Grapevine, Texas hospital. He was born May 30, 1926 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Walter and Clara Freeman Whiten. He moved to this area in the late 1940's when he was discharged from the U. S. Army. He served for four years during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, the EAME Theatre Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany). He married Shirley Goodwin in 1975 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Whiten was in sales most of his business career. Criswell Funeral Home, Ada ===================================================================== Ada Evening News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Friday, December 7, 2007 JANE LAWTON CHEVY CHASE, Md. - Memorial service for Jane England Lawton, 63, Chevy Chase, MD, was Dec. 2 at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in Kensington, Md., followed Dec. 4 by a mass of Christian burial at St. Paul's Church in Washington, D.C. with a burial at Rock Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Lawton died Nov. 29, 2007, Born and raised in Ada, Okla., Mrs. Lawton attended the University of Oklahoma where she was the recipient of many honors including Phi Beta Kappa, Mortarboard, president of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and the Dad's Day Award for Outstanding Senior Woman. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she began her lifelong public service career by working for Speaker of the House Carl Albert. Mrs. Lawton was serving in the Maryland House of Delegates. She served as PTA president at Rosemary Hills Elementary School and as vice president and Cluster Representative at Chevy Chase Elementary. She served for 12 years on the Chevy Chase Town Council, including four terms as mayor. In 1992, Mrs. Lawton became County Executive Neal Potter's special assistant. At the time of her death she was working for the County Department of Technology Services where she headed the Cable and Communications Office. She served as the national president of National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisers (NATOA) and on the National Board of the Women in Wireless Leadership Forum. In 2005, Mrs. Lawton was appointed to the Maryland State House of Delegates. In 2006, she was elected served as Delegate while simultaneously holding the position of Telecommunications Administrator for Montgomery County. He was born Dec. 5, 1927, at Wanette to Valton Lawrence Keltner and Grace Elizabeth Dike Keltner. He married Leona Frederick in 1952 at Tishomingo. She died Dec. 18, 1996. Mr. Keltner graduated from Ada High School and graduated from East Central University. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 19 years as a postman. He was a lifelong resident of the Ada area nad a member of Asbury Methodist Church. He also served in the United States Army. She was born Aug. 29, 1915, at Portem, Mo., to Samuel Jack Shaw and Mossie Marie Turley Shaw. She was raised at Beggs and Bristow and graduated from Bristow High School in 1934. She worked for Duke and Ayers Five and Dime Store for many years. She lived most of her adult life in the Ada area and was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She married Jack Summers in Ada at the First Baptist Church. He died in 1964. She married Atkeson in 1957 in Pauls Valley. He died in 1985. She was chosen as outstanding alumni at Pittsburg State University in 1999 and St. Pius X Catholic School in 2007. She was an active member of the Church of St. Mary. She and Dr. Steve Scott were married in December 1986. He was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Seminole County, Oklahoma to George and Mary Woods Johnson. He lived most of his life in the Lula area. Mr. Johnson was a farmer and rancher, and did custom hay baling for many in the area. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Ada, Oklahoma and Oceanside, Calif., congregations. He married Gladys Gift in July,1951, in Denton, Texas. She died February 1990. She was born Mary Fern Holland on August 25, 1911 at Quitman, Arkansas to Casabianca (C. A.) and Eliza Isabel (Davis) Holland. Fern was the last survivor of eleven siblings (seven girls and four boys). She graduated from Conway high school as Salutatorian in 1929. Fern completed two years at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas and later completed courses at Draughan's Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. She married Everett Wells Reid on December 25, 1938 in Mountain View, Arkansas. He died January 17, 1998 at Plano, Texas. Everett and Fern were residents of Arkansas County, Arkansas for many years. She taught school for one year at Maguire and two years at Crocketts Bluff schools (Arkansas County, AR) and worked as a secretary for Sears Roebuck and Cudahay Packing Company in Memphis, Tennessee. She later worked as a secretary / executive secretary for seventeen years with Riceland Foods, Inc. in Stuttgart, Arkansas until her retirement. After retiring, she worked with the Arkansas Housing Authority in Stuttgart. Fern participated in many activities including PTA, teaching piano, coordinating Christmas pageants, organizing and leading a new 4-H Club, teaching Sunday school and serving her church and community by playing the organ and piano. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Allen, Oklahoma. Fern was a thoughtful and dedicated person who led by her own example and positive influence. She loved playing the piano and listening to good music. As a young girl, Fern assisted by turning the music pages while her teacher played the organ at the local theater in Conway, Arkansas. Some of her activities of interest included extensive reading, writing about her experiences and gardening. Fern loved flowers, maintained a vegetable garden through her late eighties and continued to plant and harvest spinach from her flower beds into her nineties. Fern was an amateur genealogist and dedicated researcher of family roots. She loved to travel, including a trip with other relatives to Britain searching for some of her elusive Scottish ancestors. Fern was a "people person" and good communicator. She loved God, her church and those around her. Fern will be remembered for her confidence and intellect, her good nature, and the use of her talents to benefit others. Fern was an inspiration to others during her life; she will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives. Mrs. Ott was a manager at Subway Restaurant for 13 years and was of Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Sam Ott, of the home; a son, Christian Ott and his wife, Sunni, Texarkana, AR; her mother, Jean Worcester, Ada; her father, Johnny Burnes, Ada; two sisters, Brenda Sliger and Norma Worcester, both of Ada; one brother, Woody Burnes, OKC; four nephews, Shannon Gore, OH, Jayme Gore, Ada, Jonathon and Ryan Burnes, Ada; three nieces, Keri Jones, Kandi Worcester and Brittany Burnes, all of Ada; four aunts; and five uncles. Mr. Evans died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1919 at Prim, Arkansas to Walter Scott and Cynthia Anne Harris Evans. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He married Vonda Rogers in 1940 at Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She died in December 1993 in California. Mr. Evans was a pipefitter and steamfitter for Local Union #250 until his retirement. He was a Baptist, and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in California. Mr. Evans served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. DIGHTON ARDMORE-Services for J. W. Dighton, 74, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Maranatha Freewill Baptist Church, Ardmore, where he was a member. Rev. Leroy Holman will officiate. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore. An Ada native, Mr. Dighton was born to Haskell Morris and Nora Erwin Dighton on March 8, 1933. He and Betty Ford Young were married Sept. 6, 1985, in Ardmore. Mr. Dighton died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at his Ardmore home. Of the things that were most important to Mr. Dighton was serving his Lord first and the love for his wife, children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his church family. Raised in Ada, Mr. Dighton graduated from Ada High School and attended East Central University. While in Ada he was a member and deacon of the Ada Free Will Baptist Church. He was associated with the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He later was owner and operator of J. W. Dighton Used Cars in Ada. After moving to Ardmore he opened and operated "Bargain City USA" for several years. He was currently a salesman for Rackhats. In addition to his wife, Betty of the family home, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Mary Dighton, Lenexa, Kan., Gary and Linda Young, Kenny and Susan, Young of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Tommy French, Ardmore, two brothers, Earl, Shawnee, and Haskell and wife, Karen, Ardmore; eight grandchildren, Chase and Derek Dighton, Heather Hunt, Chris Hunter, Wesley Young, Jill Troop, Maegan and Hunter Young; seven great-grandchildren Cooper, Allison and Johnathon Dighton, Kaitlyn and Kael Hunt, Brooklyn and Austin Hunter. Also many other extended family members. His parents, a daughter, Susan Kim McCurdy, and a nephew he raised, Royce Fischer preceded him in death.
