He graduated from Indiana School for the Blind and continued his education at Indiana State University. He played trombone in high school and was in student council and journalism. He was a member Crestwood Baptist Church and ordained as a deacon in March at Shields Boulevard Baptist Church. He was a member of Handicap for Christ, Bethany Helping Hands Lion Club, Heartlaand Council of the Blind, Oklahoma City Beep Baseball Bombers, Okalhoma Fans for Elvis and Okies for Elvis Fan clubs and Oklahomans for Special Library Services Board. He was a member of the National Beep Baseball Association Board of Directors from 1992-1996. He was on the NBBA World Series All Star Offensive team twice and wa the recipient of the prestigious NBBA Jim Quinn Sportsmanship award. He retired from Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped after 21 years as a library assistant. He was employed by Oklahoma League for the Blind as a production worker. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, of the home; a brother, Dale, and wife Marcena, Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Marilyn Sue Eccles, Bloomfield, Ind.; father-in-law, Bob Johnston, Lula; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Whaley, and mother, Lena Richardson. He graduated from Latta High School in 1974 and East Central University in May, 1997 with a bachelor of education degree in history. He married Sherry Montgomery on June 29, 1975 at Colbert Baptist Church in Ada. Mr. Rogers had been employed with Ada Coca-Cola Company, Ada Paper Company, and with the Latta Public Schools, working in many areas of the school. He also served as a minister with several area churches including Union Hill Baptist Church, Hickory Baptist Church, Francis Baptist Church, Morris Memorial, Fitzhugh Baptist Church, Allen Baptist Church, and retired from the ministry at High Hill Baptist Church. He also served as a hospice chaplain and was a member of High Hill Baptist Church. Bob Langston will officiate. Mr. Holman died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at a Tulsa hospital. He was born April 25, 1956, at Ada to Paskel Trent "Pat" and Bonny Bell Willoughy Holman. He attended school at Bernard Elementary in St. Louis, Mo., and graduated from high school in 1974. He received a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice in two years at Northeastern State University, where he was on the president's honor roll. After graduation from high school, Mr. Holman took the civil service examination and worked for the U. S. Post Office for a year then took a lateral transfer to the Department of the Army in St. Louis at the Reserve Components Personnel Center in the casualty branch, ensuring that the men and women who served this nation during it's war's including the Civil War received the proper paper work entitling them to benefits. After a few years in the public sector, Mr. Holman went back to work for the federal government as a trustee in Los Angeles, Calif., for five years in the bankruptcy courts until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association as well as the Muscular Sclerosis Society. Survivors include two brothers, his identical twin, Tim Holman, Broken Arrow, and Trent Holman and wife Barbara, Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Shannon. He attended elementary school at Stonewall and graduated from Horace Mann High School in Ada in 1942. He received a bachelor of science degree from East Central University and a master's degree from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Chambers lived in New Mexico for 55 years before moving back to Ada in October 2005. While he lived in Albuquerque, he taught biology, chemistry, and general science, retiring from the Albuquerque school system. Mr. Chambers was a member of Central Church of Christ in Ada, and a member of the Netherwood Church of Christ in Albuquerque, N.M. Previously, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and he served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He lived in the Ada area most of his life and graduated from Byng High School in 1982. He received a bachelor's of science degree in biology from East Central University in May 1986. While at East Central University, he was a member of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, Alpha Chi National Honor Society, a Francisco Hatchett Scholarship recipient, an Outstanding Graduate in Biology, and High Honors Graduate.He received a master's of science degree in zoology from the University of Oklahoma in May 1992, where he received the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology Student Award, the James Thompson Award for Teaching Excellence and the George Miksch Sutton Scholarship recipient. And he received a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Oklahoma in May 1998. He received the UT Tyler President's Scholarly Achievement Award in 2006-2007. Dr. Pogue was an associate professor of biology at the University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Pogue was a member of the American Ornithologist's Union, Cooper Ornithological Society, Wilson Ornithological Society, Oklahoma Ornithological Society, International Association for Landscape Ecology, Southwestern Association of Naturalists, Texas Ornithological Society and the Northeast Texas Field Ornithologists. Later, she earned a teaching certificate from Northeastern State College. She taught at schools in Moodys, Big Foot and Rocky Ford. She married James Henry McJunkin March 19, 1932, at Eufaula. He died Nov. 30, 1985. The couple operated an automotive store in Tishomingo. After retirement, they moved from Tishomingo to Tahlequah in 1964. Mrs. McJunkin moved to Ada about eight years ago. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Eurah Wilson; and two sisters, Othel Neal and Mae Parris.
