Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:00 - 8:30, Wednesday, April 4 at Criswell. Memorial gifts may be given to The DonEtta Cothren Medical Fund, BancFirst, P.O. Box 509, Stratford, OK 74872. Julia was born March 18, 1917 in Shiloh, Arkansas. She was the sixth, and last surviving, of eight children born to Adeline Fulbright and John Henry Cothren. Even though born in Arkansas, Julia grew up in Oklahoma around the Stratford and Vanoss area. She attended 1st-5th grade in Cottonwood, 6th-8th grade in Hart and started the 9th grade in Stratford but was never able to complete her high school education because of helping a family member who was ill. She met Jack Kifer in 1938 and they married September 7, 1940 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Jack and Julia made their home in several places before moving to Pleasant Hill in 1955 where they operated a dairy and farmed for many decades. Following Jack's death in 1996, Julia continued to live on the farm until she moved to Ada in 1999. Although it has been some time since she has been able to participate at First Baptist Church of Stonewall, Julia was an active member there for many years. Julia consistently centered her life on God and found ways to serve. Her quiet faith never faltered to the end. She demonstrated grace in both word and deed. Julia loved her family. She made clothes for her daughters and grand daughters. Another way she displayed her love was in making everyone's favorite pie for him or her every Thanksgiving and Christmas, even if that required baking 13 different kinds of pie. Julia's selfless service as caregiver to her husband Jack, during the last years of his life, allowed him to live out his life in the comfort of their home. Her unwavering commitment was an inspiration to those around her. Raising four daughters, Julia welcomed her sons-in-law into the family. She was as far from the stereotypical mother-in-law as it was possible to get. With her entire family she never meddled, didn't pry, but always showed interest and gave encouragement. She was a joy to be around. Julia's favorite pastime was watching the OU Girls and the Dallas Mavericks play basketball. She was their number one fan whether they knew it or not. Julia enjoyed many hobbies including volunteering at Stonegate Nursing Center in Stonewall, and being a member of the women's home demonstration club in Clarita; but probably none more than sewing and quilting. She made prize-winning entries in the Coal County Fair for many years. She made a quilt for each of her daughters and their children. The clothing and quilts she stitched through the years would fill a room and every stitch made was made with love. Julia is survived by four daughters, Joann Roan and husband, Jess Roan, Amarillo, Texas, June Farmer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary Jane Causey and husband, Mike Causey, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Jackie Robinson and husband, Jack Robinson, Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Carolyn Franks and husband Jay, Sheila Sims and husband Richard, Mark Roan and wife Kristin, Stephen Farmer and wife Amanda, Julie Pierce and husband John, Chris Causey and wife Sarah, and Katie Robinson; eleven great grandchildren, Taylor Franks, Madison Franks, Julia Sims, Olivia Sims, Ryan Roan, McKay Roan, Jacen Farmer, Alyssa Pierce, Abby Pierce, Payton Causey, and Alli Jo Causey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Wheeler graduated from Ada High School and later joined the National Guard from which he was Honorably Discharged in August of 1969. Ed Wheeler married his life-long love, Linda Davis, on February 13, 1965 and is today reunited with her. They had 1 daughter. Throughout his life, Mr. Wheeler was an avid businessman. His endeavors included a hot-rod shop, pawnshop, and the "Movie World" video store; however, having been an archery shooter since childhood, Mr. Wheeler was at his finest when he was standing with a Bow in hand. He won his first state championship at the age of 13. He has served area archers for over 35 years at his shop, Outlaw Distributing. His traditional titles in professional archery are numerous with his most recent accomplishments being ASA Shooter of the Year for the past 2 years and Oklahoma Triple Crown Shooter for the Year, a State Champion ASA shooter, T.H.E. 3-D 1st Place State Champion and T.H.E. 3-D 2nd Place World Championship, all in 2006. Among his proudest achievements were the mentoring of 7 Archery State Champions, as Mr. Wheeler was always much more eager to speak of his beloved understudies than to talk of his own accomplishments. In the Archery World, Mr. Wheeler is truly a legend, loved and respected by so many, his name recognized at every tournament for miles around. He will be missed, but his legend will remain alive in the stories told by those whom he influenced most. In his earlier years, Ed loved to drag race. The American Hot Rod Association awarded him the 1/4 mile World Racing Record in 1975. Many would recognize the name, "Mr. 57" before they would know him by his real name. Always a family man, Mr. Wheeler was called "Pop" by his family and friends. He was a father to many more than his daughter, with a special bond being with his beloved grandsons and son-in-law. Mr. Wheeler is survived by a daughter, Lori M. Morris and her husband Danny, of the home; 2 grandsons, Justin Seth Morris of Mount Joy, PA and Logan Daniel Morris of the home; and a brother, Fred Wheeler from Cheyenne, WY. A Wake service will be held Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada. Pastor Jerry Studebaker, Hickory Hill Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Hickory Hill Cemetery. Lorene was born November 30, 1923 in Fairview community on a farm west and south of Sulphur, Oklahoma. Her parents were Joe and Serena Fulsom Pettigrew. Lorene and Buster Keaton Greenwood were married on September 11, 1947. Lorene attended Fairview and Valley View Schools and graduated from Davis High School. She lettered in basketball and baseball and won several medals in sports. She won a scholarship to East Central University in basketball. She played the tuba in the high school band and sang in the girl's sextet and glee club. For four years, Lorene was a high school cheerleader and was also involved in oratorical contests. In her own words, she was "the clown of the class and was always in trouble." An icon in the Chickasaw community, Lorene served in the Legislature for the Chickasaw Tribe for seven years. She served as a teacher's aide in the McLish School System and was honored in 2001 by the McLish Alumni Association at the biennial reunion. Lorene was active in the Booster Club at Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur for her granddaughter, Rebecca. For many years, Lorene was active in Hickory Hill Baptist Church. A godly woman, she was the daughter of a deacon and always played with the preacher's children. As she told it, "that's why I was so mischievous!" Her husband, Buster, was a Baptist deacon, so service in the Lord's work had always been a special love for Lorene. She was saved at the age of 13 during the week of Vacation Bible School at Sandy Baptist Church between Sulphur and Davis. She was baptized the old-fashioned way - in a creek. Lorene was noted for her special talent in Indian crafts, her love for nature and animals, her passion for kindness and her ministry for anyone in need. Lorene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking. She was skilled in a rare craft: making jewelry from rattlesnake bones. The process of cleaning, bleaching and stringing the bones could take a year. For one of her neighbors, she was "the Indian mother." She was an advocate of "waste not, want not" and was always willing to share, whether it was long-ago recipes, stories of her childhood or Biblical principles. She loved people and was committed to church work and the community. She was always willing to sing hymns in her native language. Survivors include her daughter, Juhree Greenwood, Fittstown; her son, Buster Greenwood, Jr., Fittstown; her granddaughter, Rebecca Greenwood, Fittstown; one sister, Irene Digby, Davis and Andy Imotichey, Long Beach, CA, whom Lorene and Buster reared as their third son. She is also survived by her nephews Dean Digby and wife Barbara; Ronnie Digby and wife Dixie; and Tony Looney. Surviving nieces include Beverly Reynen and husband Bob; Rhonda McCann and husband Ron. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buster; her son, Joe Wayne; her daughter-in-law Vicki; her sisters Lucille Looney and Caroline Stribling; and her sister-in-law Monette. Bill Anoatubby, and Gene Durant. In lieu of flowers, Lorene's family requests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hickory Hill Baptist Church, 23090 CR 1560, Stonewall, OK 74871. A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church at 14th and Broadway in Ada at 1:30 on Thursday June 28th. Reverend Bob Langston will officiate. Bill was born May 15th, 1913 in his family's two room farmhouse just outside of Roosevelt, OK. He was the third of five children born to George Grant and Mamie Gertude Hopkins Lee; he was the only boy. When Bill was thirteen (13) his family moved to Oklahoma City to find work like so many other 'Dust Bowl' families. Bill attended Capitol Hill High School the first year it was opened. His first job was digging holes for the fence to enclose the new football field. You might say that began Bill's passion for football. He graduated in 1931 and worked at a variety of grocery and packing plant jobs with time to become the State Archery champion. He next went to work for the Pittsburg Paint and Glass Company (PPG) in their warehouse located in today's Bricktown; this was to become his vocation. He advanced from the warehouse, to the paint stock room, to a draftsman position and later to the sales room. In 1936, he was offered an outside sales position; his territory was southeastern Oklahoma, including Ada. On Easter 1937, Bill met his future wife, Marlena Catherine Huntley, on a double date to the Annual Easter Pageant near Lawton, OK. They were married on August 6, 1938 at the Christian Church in Oklahoma City. They honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park. Bill and Marlena moved to Ada in 1939 so that he could spend more time with his soon to be growing family while he continued to travel for PPG. His family would grow to include four (4) children; David Kent in 1940, William Wayne in 1941, Janet Ann in 1947 and Phillip Grant in 1952. Bill traveled for PPG until 1945 when he bought an Ada glass shop and named it the Lee Company. He later opened additional Lee Company stores in Durant in 1947 and Stillwater in 1956. Bill was a good business man and built his company into one of the largest glass shops in southern Oklahoma. He sold all three (3) stores in 1973 and retired from the glass and paint business. When asked, "When did you start thinking of retirement?" Bill would respond, "Why, the first day I started working!" Bill also became a civic leader in Ada. He was a loyal member of the First Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees for 21 years during which time he was Chairman for 11 years. The Lee Company also installed the beautiful stained glass windows in the church sanctuary. He founded the local First Methodist Church Foundation which supports church programs and scholarships. He and Marlena's proudest moment as Methodists was being named the Methodist Family of the Year in 1957. He joined the Kiwanis Club in July, 1944 and later served as President of the local club and Lieutenant-Governor for Oklahoma. While President, he started the Greater Ada Kiwanis Club which is still active today. Later he helped organize the East Central Circle K Club and Ada High Key Club. He joined the Masonic Lodge which was one of his mother's goals for him; he attained the 32nd order and became Shriner. In addition, he served as the President of the Community Chest and on the Campfire Girls and Boy Scout boards. After Bill retired, he and Marlena became Ada Hobos. They traveled hundreds of thousands of miles in their travel trailer visiting every state in the union. They found recreational vehicle people to be friendly and generous, making lifelong friends. Bill and other Hobos still needed a project so they created the Ada Hobos Campground near Byrd's Mill Springs where they carved a beautiful campground out of an oak jungle. Bill and Marlena also found time to travel to 28 countries on 5 continents. In his later years, Bill liked to refer to himself as "I'm Lucky Lee because I'm the luckiest person I know." All who knew Bill were also lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Grant and Mamie Gertrude Lee; three (3) of his sisters, Lillian Stover, Vera Spurlock and Marion Ibbotson and a great-grandson, Logan Smith. He is survived by his wife, Marlena; sister, Veree Smith of Dallas, Texas; Brother- in-law, Jay Cook of Ardmore, OK; four (4) children, David Kent Lee and wife Pam of Denver, Colorado, William Wayne Lee and wife Linda of Boulder, Colorado, Janet Ann Lee of Ada, Oklahoma and Phillip Grant Lee and wife Judy of Galveston, Texas; eleven (11) grandchildren, Jeff Lee, Jennifer Lee, Carrie Lee, Sheryl Lee, Laura Lambrecht, Paul Lee, Jason Martin, Lisa Smith, Christina Lee, Elizabeth Lee, and Andrew Lee; and nine (9) great-grandchildren. The Elkins household was always cluttered with the remnants of her reading, her art, and her yard was a kaleidoscope of her mastery with growing things.
