All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rosedale Cemetery--Ada OK JOE KENT ABBOTT ADA - Services for Joe Kent Abbott, 78, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Randall Christy and Kennedy Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Abbott died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1928, at Ada to Barney and Ruby Elmore Abbott. He attended Latta Schools and later was a member of the Latta School Board. He married Betty Jean Putman on Jan. 2, 1948. Mr. Abbott was the owner and operator of a dozer service here in Ada, and later owned and operated Abbott Nursery. He was also employed by the Chickasaw Nation, where he had formerly served as one of the original Chickasaw Legislators. Mr. Abbott was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Jean Abbott, of the home; three daughters, Sherry Todd, Norman, Thalia Miller, Ada, and Darla Porter, Ada; one son, David Abbott, Ada; a brother, James Abbott and wife Birdie, Ada; six grandchildren, Dewayne Norvill, Shanda Nelson, Zac Abbott, Julie Russell, Colbi Howard and Sydney Abbott; two great- grandchildren, Payton Nelson and Parker Nelson; and three aunts, Carolyn Aday, Ada, and Myrtle Cooper, Ada, and Mary Camden, Yuma, Ariz. Bearers will be Dewayne Norvill, Zac Abbott, Ervin Walton, Kent Abbott, T. C. Monroe and Darren Clinton. Honorary bearers will be Elmo Fulton, Jerry Dyer, James Doyle Marion, Dr. Jack Howard, Riley Young, Gov. Bill Anoatubby and Brian Campbell.
