Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Havenbrook Funeral in Norman. Mrs. Hayes died Aug. 12, 2007, at Norman. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, to Homer and Beatrice Abernathy Glover. She attended school in Grand Saline, and graduated from North Texas University in Denton. She was an elementary school teacher in Texas and Oklahoma. She married Donald Thomas Hayes on July 2, 1942, at San Diego, Calif., where he was serving in the Navy. In 1966 the couple moved to Ada, where they owned the Hayes Oldsmobile-Cadillac-Nissan dealership. They moved to Norman In 2004. Mrs. Hayes was a lifelong Baptist. She was an active member of Ada First Baptist Church and was a member of the Lydia Sunday school class. She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Fortnightly Study Club Music Department and the Fine Arts Department of Tanti Study Clubs. Survivors include her husband Don Hayes; her son Tom Hayes and his wife Mary; her grandson Jon Hayes and his wife Kari; her great- grandson Hunter Hayes, all of Norman; and a sister-in-law Pat Hayes, Plano, Texas. She passed to heaven on August 12, 2007 in Norman, OK. She was born to Homer and Beatrice Abernathy Glover. She attended school in Grand Saline, TX, and graduated college from North Texas University in Denton. She went on to teach elementary school in Texas and Oklahoma. She married Donald Thomas Hayes on July 2, 1942 in San Diego, CA where he was serving in the Navy. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Their son Thomas Hayes was born on her 24th birthday and she always said he was the best present she ever received. Don and Margaret moved to Ada, OK in 1966 where they owned the Hayes Oldsmobile-Cadillac-Nissan dealership. During their retirement years, they had many opportunities to travel around the world. In 2004, they moved to Norman, OK to live near their children after Margaret suffered from a stroke. Margaret was a life long Baptist. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ada and was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Fortnightly Study Club Music Department and the Fine Arts Department of Tanti Study Clubs. Margaret always had a genuine smile and a gracious manner. She was a loving wife, devoted mother , adored grandmother and a generous friend. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and traveling but she especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husba nd Don Hayes , her son Tom Hayes and his wife Mary, her grandson Jon Hayes and his wife Kari, her great grandson Hunter Hayes, all of Norman, OK, and her sister-in-law Pat Hayes of Plano, TX. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, in Grand Saline, TX. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, August 14, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman, OK.
