Mrs. Thrasher died June 30, 2007 at Fort Worth, Texas. She was born Aug. 24, 1911 in Maxwell to Annie and G.M.F. Blevins. She married Ernest Thrasher March 19, 1930 and was a homemaker. Mrs. Thrasher lived in Arizona before moving to Stratford where she has lived for many years. She recently moved to Texas where she lived the last few years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1981; one daughter; and one grandson. She was born September 5, 1920 near Sasakwa, to Joseph Eli and Mary Irene Graham Ryan. She attended Kite school near Sasakwa and graduated from Sasakwa High School. She lived in this area all her life. She married Harold Shaw on September 23, 1942. He died December 7, 1981 in Ada. Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker and a beautician for several years, later she was a professional seamstress, and also a sales clerk for Sun-N-Fun Clothing Store. She was a member of Latta Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and helped with vacation bible school. She was affiliated with Abundant Life Tabernacle. Survivors include two sons, Rick Shaw and wife Kay, Ada, and Mick Shaw and wife Sharon, Seminole; one sister, Alpha Dee Lance, Westminster, South Carolina; grandchildren, Ryan Shaw and wife Melissa, Ada, Brandi Shaw, Athens, Georgia, Derek Shaw and wife Rachel, McAlester, Brandon Shaw and wife Amy, Seminole, Angela Shaw, Seminole, and Stephen Chambers, Virginia. He was born February 9, 1922 at Ada, to Henry and Florence Corbin Brandon. He lived most of his life in the Ada area. He married Ruby Wilson on October 30, 1943 at Oakman, Oklahoma. She died June 8, 1997 at Ada. Mr. Brandon was previously employed with Hornet Gas Station and Knotts Bread Company. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Deloise Anderson, Pauls Valley; two sons, Eldon Brandon, Arkansas and Gilbert Brandon, Washington; and eight grandchildren. He was a mechanic at Bowie Ballard Ford in Ada until his retirement, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ada, where he served as a deacon and also supervised the building maintenance and the church grounds. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He married Frances Elizabeth Crabtree April 12, 1946, at Paris, Texas. Mrs. Farmer was a member of Galey Baptist Church in Galey. She married Billy James “Buzz” Farmer Sr. on July 10, 1962, in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kan. He died June 15, 2005, at Ada. She was an educator for 41 years and taught at Laxton, Frisco and Roff Public Schools throughout the time she was earning a bachelor’s degree in education at East Centeral University. After earning a bachelor’s degree in 1936, she earned a master’s degree from ECU in 1954 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1956. State records indicate Mrs. Clifton was one of the first female public school principals in Oklahoma. She was involved in many local and state organizations, including Oklahoma Retired Educators’ Association, Delta Kappa Gamma International Teachers’ Organization, where she served as past president, and Eastern Star Chapter 103, where she was past matron. Survivors include two sisters, Lovella Williams, Roff, and Jo Harris, Pell City, Ala.; two brothers, Melvin Johnson, Roff, and Corbin “Jim” Johnson, Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. The service will be conducted by Bud Ross. She died July 5, 2007, at a local hospital. Mrs. Danley-Plunk was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Chickasha, to Clarence and Mattie Mae Dinwiddie. After the death of Clarence, Mattie married C.E. Brady, who later adopted Wanita. Mrs. Danley-Plunk attended high school in Wewoka and Ada. She graduated from Ada High School in 1950. She graduated from East Central University, Ada, with both bachelors' and master's degrees. She taught fourth and sixth grades at Byng, honors English at Ada High School, and freshman and sophomore English at East Central University. She was also the director of ECU Ardmore Higher Education Center in Ardmore. She retired from ECU in 1994. She was an active member of the Central Church of Christ, and was also a member of Oklahoma Retired Educators' Association, Fine Arts Department of Tanti Study Club, ECU Women's Club, Pontotoc County Democratic Party and various other community organizations. She was a musician, playing the piano at numerous functions since the age of 5. She married Dr. James O. Danley in 1950. He died in 1980 and she married Bob Plunk in 1996. He graduated from Vanoss High School, received bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central Teacher's College, and an administration certificate, studying at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. Mr. Tilley started his teaching career at Vanoss and McLish schools and was a superintendent of schools at Manter, Kan. He moved to the Byng School system and taught science, geography, biology and driver's education. Later, he was the Junior High School principal, retiring in 1980 with more than 30 years of service at Byng School. Mr. Tilley was a longtime member of Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church and a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows. He married Virginia Lee Burk on Oct. 4, 1940, in Ada. She died Feb. 28, 2007, in Ada. She was a member of St Luke's Episcopal Church. She married Lowell Penrod on March 11, 1950, in Oklahoma City. He died March 1, 1987, in Ada. Mr. Ayres died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at a Kingston nursing home. Mr. Ayres was born Nov. 5, 1929, to Earl E. Ayres and Sylvia G. Baker Ayres in Madill. He was raised in Madill where he graduated from Madill High School in 1947. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a military policeman in American occupied Japan after World War II for two years. Later he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in education. He taught history, coached football and assisted in basketball at the Waurika Public School. In the early 1960s, he moved to Madill where he worked as a rancher and a real estate broker. Mr. Ayres was a member of Madill Church of Christ, past director of Marshall County Rural Water Board and served on the board of directors for Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp. He married Jewel Maxine Ketchum Oct. 16, 1949, in DeQueen, Ark. She died July 23, 2006. She was born April 23, 1963, at Ada to Marlin Gore Sr. and Edith Alberson Gore. She married Rufus Hernandez. Mrs. Hernandez graduated from Valley High School in Tulare. She was a homemaker and had lived at Tulare for 37 years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marlin Gore Jr. and Michael Gore; and a sister, Sandra Gore. Mr. Williams died Saturday, July 21, at his home in Evansville, Ind. He was born June 23,1931, at Sasakwa. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Maggie L. Kymes, Sasakwa. In 1948, at the age of 17, Mr. Williams enlisted in the United States Army. This career lasted 20 years where he retained the rank of staff sergeant. He served in France, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from his military service, he worked as a manager with Western Sizzlin Steak House until his retirement in 1989. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Loretta Williams, Evansville, Ind.; two sons, Eugene Williams, Marysville, Wash., and Capt. Nathan Williams, Summerville, S.C; two daughters, Kimberly W. Ryan, Marietta, Ga. and Christine Bynum, Charleston, S.C; an uncle, Lester Kymes; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Mae and Bill Williams and maternal grandmother Maggie L. Kymes. Mrs. Dansby lived in this area all her life and graduated from Fitzhugh High School. She worked at several manufacturing companies in Ada and retired from Dicus Bakery in 1990. She was affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She married Willie Dansby March 24, 1956, at Fitzhugh. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Davis and the First Baptist Church of Sulphur, where she served as church librarian for many years. She was active in Eastern Star and served as officer and delegate. She married Thomas E. Mitchelmore who preceded her on April 13, 1962. She married Floyd Shipman June 10, 1965. Survivors include her husband, Floyd Shipman, of the home; two sons Garry Mitchelmore and wife mary Beth, Littleton, Colo., and Larry Shipman and wife Donna, Norman; a daughter Marilyn McCurtain and husband Lynn, Sulphur; a brother, T.L. He came to this area around 1933 from Wewoka. He graduated from Wewoka High school and attended East Central University for two years, participating in the Band Program. He married Ollie Alaire Wilcox Oct. 30, 1937. She died Feb. 24, 2006. In 1934, he began working at Ada Milling Company and later became an office manager. He also later became a chief nutritionist. Mr. Calvert then later served as general manager of Evergreen Mill Co., retiring in 1983, when the company was sold. Mr. Calvert was a long time active member of the Central Church of Christ. He was a former elder of the Church, also served as a deacon, Bible class teacher and song leader. He was former president of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and also served on the board of directors at Valley View Regional Hospital. Survivors include, one daughter, Linda Peterson and husband David, Arlington, Texas; two sons, David Calvert and wife Sue, Oklahoma City, and Rod Calvert, Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Betty Johns, Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandchildren, Keith Calvert, Robin Calvert, Chris Calvert, Sean Peterson and Mike Peterson; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
