All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Golden Gate National Cemetery--San Francisco CA Ruby Dennis Swanson Ruby Dennis Swanson Jan. 28, 1924 Dec. 22, 2005 Ruby D. Swanson, age 81, passed away on December 22 at her home in Clayton, CA. She was born in Allen, OK to parents Olen and Mintie Dennis. She graduated from Dill High School in 1942. She entered into active service in the U.S. Navy in 1945, at the end of World War II. There she served as a Pharmacist Mate until June of 1947. She was eligible for the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. She married Thomas E. Swanson, Jr. in May of 1947, while they were both serving in the Navy while stationed in Dublin, GA. She was honorably discharged from the Service in June 1947. Over the years she remained in contact with a number of the Waves stationed with her in Georgia. She later received her LVN license and worked at John Muir Hospital for a number of years. She remained active with the American Legion Post 171 until her death. She was known as "Sugie" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of who loved her dearly and will miss her great stories and her sense of humor. She was preceded in death January 19, 1992 by Thomas Swanson, Jr., her loving husband of 44 years, and September 1, 1952 by her son, Robert Dennis Swanson. She is survived by her four living children, daughter, Connie Bumann and sons, Colby Swanson, Thomas E. Swanson, III and James Swanson, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on January 21, 2pm at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 399 Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek, CA.
