Mrs. Grady died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at a Sulphur health care facility. A Colorado native, she was born Dec. 30, 1916, to Edward and Ethel Poland Snider. She had been a resident of Roff for the past five years coming from Westminster, Colo., where she had been the cafeteria manager for the National Biscuit Company, NABISCO. Her husband, Joseph Grady preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Bernice Moore and granddaughter, Denise Raley of Roff; a grandson, Joe Moore, Bucklin, Kan.; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. The Rev. Ed Johnson will officiate. Mr. May died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Calvin. He was born June 29, 1937, in Oklahoma City to Clifford F. and Henrietta Jane Carter May. On April 9, 1956 Frank married Bonnie Belle Latham in Yuma Ariz. Mr. May worked as a heavy equipment operator in California in the late 1950s. He returned to Oklahoma to help his father farm. He ranched on the Horace Hamilton ranch in the 1960s and returned to driving a dozer and backhoe for most of his working life. Frank retired from Hughes County after 10 years of service. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff May and Retta May Hatter; and two sisters: Cora Cox and Linda Howard; niece, Della Knighten; nephew, Donny Cox; and one brother-in-law, William Cash. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of the home; daughters, Debby and Odell Rippee of Calvin; and Diana and Kenny Moore of Atwood; six grandchildren: Shelby and Paul Robertson of Edmond; Ashley and Josh Merritt of Ada; Chad Moore of Oklahoma City; Aaron Rippee of Edmond; Nathan and Jacob Rippee of Calvin; four great grandchildren: Damien, Trenton, and Emilee Robertson of Edmond; and Isaiah Merritt of Ada, Oklahoma. She later attended East Central University. She served in the United States Navy from Dec. 19, 1988, to Dec. 18, 1992. During her time of service in the military she became a medical technician in the medical field. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her mother, RozAn Frazer and stepfather, Jerry Walston, Ada; a brother, Garland Fraser and wife Dusty of Plano, Texas; a stepsister Kerri Farmer and husband Eric of Dickson, and eight nieces and nephews. David McCann will officiate. Mrs. Conn died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at her home. She was born Dec. 20, 1910, at Elk City, Okla., to Claude and Iva Claire Richard Ellegood. She and her family moved to Lawton, Okla., in 1916 where she attended local schools including Cameron College. She married James J. Statler in May 1937 in El Reno, Okla. They moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where she worked in and headed many charitable organizations including Easter Seals and the Symphony Guild. After Jim retired, they returned to Ada, where they were members of the First Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1980. She later married Jack T. Conn in 1985 and moved to Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death. At his death, she moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to her daughter. Survivors include a daughter, Jimmy Sue Guggenhime; a sister, Francis Griffin; granddaughter, Kristin Wellens and husband Brian; grandson, David Guggenhime; great-grandchildren, Jacob Guggenhime and Garrett Statler Wellens; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, James J. Statler, her second husband, Jack T. Conn, a sister, Florence Wade, and brothers, Richard Ellegood and Don Ellegood. She lived in this area all her life and attended Ada schools, Murray State College and graduated from Lela’s Beauty College. She married Homer T. Hulsey on January 18, 1951 in Konawa. He died January 21, 1987. Mrs. Hulsey worked as a teacher’s assistant for many years at Connerville grade school. She was a cook for the McLish school and the Chickasaw Nation Head Start Program for many years. She was a foster grandparent at McLish School at the time of her death. Mrs. Hulsey was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Tharp passed away on Nov. 4 at the Crawford Street Place in Denison at the age of 88. She was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Ada and attended Ada schools. She married Ona Loyd Tharp on July 7, 1939 in Ada. They moved to Sherman in 1970 and were married 52 years when Mr. Tharp died in June 1992. Mrs. Tharp was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and devoted homemaker. She will be remembered for her pecan pies, quilts, and her garden. In 1967, he began the administrative residence training program, where he became chief of building management for several Veterans Administration medical centers. After his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Humes went to work as an administrator with the Chickasaw Nation. He was active in the Chickasaw Nation and the Native American Tribes of Oklahoma. He later managed Chief Pallet Company in Roff until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Downs was a member of the Ada Skeet Club and served as vice president. He won many honors in local and state competitions. He was also a member of the Fittstown Shade Tree Club. After Bertha's death, Chris married Corene Burnett. Mr. Pedersen was only 6 years old at that time and together Chris and Corene raised Carroll on a farm and ranch near Vanoss. He married Barbara Thompson March 26, 1955. He worked for more than 20 years at Unit Parts Company in Oklahoma City. He later worked at Kobe Manufacturing in Oklahoma City for seven years. She was born Dec. 6, 1908, at Healton A.L. and Linnie Mae Wilkes Melton. She married Elmer A. Smith Oct. 13, 1926. He died in 1937. She later married the Rev. Bennie Ketchum in Coweta. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Ketchum was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and she was a licensed minister and evangelist pastoring her first church in Sweetwater, Texas in 1945. She retired from full time ministry after pastoring the Church of God of Prophecy in Oil Center. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda McCann and husband Mac, Centrahoma; two brothers, A.L.
