Batsch July 8, 1919 - May 22, 2007 Iva went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2007. Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road. Iva was born in Allen, Oklahoma to Virgil and Nova Dobbs. She was the oldest of 8 siblings. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She graduated from East Central State University with honors. Upon graduating from college, she was offered a teaching job in New Mexico but she declined that job. Instead, she took a job working at the Federal Reserve Bank in Texas. She later moved to Bakersfield after she met and married her husband, John Batsch on May 25, 1948. After raising her four sons, Iva went to work for Kern County Welfare Department as an account clerk for 11 years. Iva was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord deeply. She was also a faithful caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She learned to cook from her mother and was a very good cook. She will be missed greatly. Her second son, David and her husband, John preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Bencil Dobbs, Loyd Dobbs; and sister, Jewel Searle; her son, John and his wife, Lynn; son, Donald and his wife, Song; and son, Gary. Iva has 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
