All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rose Hills FH--Whittier CA Foxx, Luthor Luther Leamon Foxx, 93, of Rancho Mirage, died Sept. 1, 2006. He was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Sulphur, Okla. Luther was raised by his mother, Nancy Blevins Foxx and his Father James Arthur Foxx. He has three brothers, James Allan Foxx (deceased), Lee Roy Foxx, Tony C. Foxx; and two Sisters, Leona Foxx (deceased) and Leota Little. Luther leaves five children, Barbara Loy, James Foxx, Linda Holmes, Robert Foxx and Daniel Foxx; 12 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Luther was preceded in death by two wives, Lillian and Charlescy. He grew up outside of Ada, Okla., went to Oatman Grade School and Byng High School and graduated from East Central State Teachers College in Okla. with a degree in Industrial Arts & Science. He then began teaching in Ponca City, (Burbank), Okla. During that time Luther also played semi-professional baseball. He then moved to Wichita, Kan., where he worked in the aircraft industry and taught at Plainview High School. In 1943, he went into the U. S. Navy as a 1st Class Metalsmith and was stationed at the North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego. After the War, he resumed teaching at Plainview High School and received his Masters Degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. Luther then began teaching at South East High School in Wichita, Kan. In 1965, Luther moved to California and taught for nine years at John Glenn High School in Norwalk. He retired in 1976 to travel the world and enjoy life with his family. Luther moved to Rancho Mirage in 2004. Luther has been interred at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier. Luther Leamon Foxx was the home base for us all. We will miss him dearly.
