All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Springfield Memorial Gardens--Eugene OR Eugene Register Guard 05 May 2007 Alvie Ivy SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Molalla Christian Church for Alvie L. Ivy of Springfield, who died May 2 of age-related causes. He was 82. He was born June 24, 1924, in Ada, Okla., to Roy and Verdie Hill Ivy. He married Madeleine Stone on March 25, 1945, in Eugene. She died in June 1999. Ivy graduated from Springfield High School in 1941. He attended Southern Oregon Community College before transferring to the Oregon College of Education, where he earned a bachelors degree in education. In 1972 he received a master of arts degree in teaching from Portland State University. Ivy served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. He taught in Wilsonville, Canada, and as many small schools in Eastern Oregon, retiring from Pine Creek after 33 years of teaching. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Brist of Springfield, Robin Watts of Rockaway Beach and Sheri Ivy of Auburn, Wash.; two sons, Logan of Denver and Andrew of Dubai; a brother, Robert Hill of Springfield; a sister, Nina Davis of Springfield; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
