All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Resthaven Memorial Park--Lubbock TX Adelaide Whatley LUBBOCK - Adelaide Whatley, 81, a former Lubbock resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, in Paducah. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elgin Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Buckland officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Whatley was born in Ada, Okla. She married Gerald Whatley in 1933 at Altus, Okla. He died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Geralda Bishop, in 1983. She moved to Lubbock in 1960. She was a homemaker and a past member of Elgin Avenue Baptist Church and the Ruth Class. She moved to Paducah, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Carroll Whatley of Wolfforth; a daughter, Gayle Long of Paducah; a sister, Peggy Smith of Clovis, N.M. nine grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
