Wilson, Sr., 70, of Ada, OK, died August 4, 2005, in Dubach, LA. Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 28, 1934, in Hampton, AR to Idus and Bessie Martin Wilson. He was a retired school superintendent and decorated veteran. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Ada. Doyle graduated from Fairview High School of Camden, AR in 1952. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and saw action in Korea. After receiving his B.S. Degree from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, AR, he began his career as an assistant coach in Pine Bluff, AR, where he met his wife Shirley, a teacher at Pine Bluff High School. They were married August 29, 1959. In 1960 The Wilsons moved to Natalia, TX where he was Athletic Director, head coach and Principal grades 1 through 8. After he completed his Master of Education at East Texas State College in Commerce, TX in 1963, he returned to Arkansas as Superintendent of Norman Public Schools. In 1966, he received his Degree of Advance Study from the University of Arkansas. In 1967 he was commissioned first lieutenant in Adjutant General Corps. U. S. Army, he was assigned to headquarters for U. S. Army in Hawaii, Schofield Barracks in 1967. He was Budget Director of non-appropriated Funds for U. S. Army Hawaii. Captain Wilson volunteered for Vietnam and served as 1st Cavalry Division Personnel Officer. Returning to school administration, he was Superintendent of Maud I.S.D. in Maud, TX thirteen years before moving to Wheeler, TX as Superintendent of Wheeler, I.S. D. In 1989 he retired and moved to Oklahoma to continue his career in Arapaho and Allen. He retired again in 1995 to spend time with his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Wilson of Ada, OK; one son, Doyle A. Wilson, Jr. of Arlington, TX; one daughter, Miriam Elizabeth Atwood of Liberal, KS; his mother, Bessie Anders of Oakridge Nursing Home in El Dorado, AR; one sister, Syble Evans of Manteca, CA; and three grandchildren, Tyler Eaton of Clinton, OK; Ryan Atwood and Kali Atwood of Liberal, KS. He was preceded in death by his Father, Idus Wilson and a brother, Ivan Wilson. Services were August 9, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Maud, TX with the Revs. Brandon Womack and Jerry Jones officiating. Interment at Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud, TX. The following served as pallbearers: Jim Seals, Robert Stinnett, George Frost, Jim Slider, Gary White, Donald Warrington, and Roy Baird. Allen Nance and Don Ruggles of Texarkana presented a flag to his wife.
