Turner, PhD., officiating. Burial follows Oaklawn Cemetery, Sulphur. Mr. Nye died Dec. 29, 2008, in Pontotoc County. He was born July 8, 1962, in Hollywood, Calif., to William Cleon and Carol Ann Gross Nye. Mr. Nye moved to Sulphur when he was in the third grade and graduated from Sulphur High School. After graduation, he attended Southeastern University in Durant and earned a degree in physical education. He coached in Purcell, Tuttle and Plainview before returning to Sulphur High School in 1992. In 2004, during Coach Jim Dixon’s illness, he took over head coaching duties and took the football team to state that year. He also served a term as the president of the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association. In 1987, he and Juanita Marie Wilson were married in Broken Bow. She and her family moved to the Stonewall area from Fort Chaffee. She graduated from Stonewall High School in 1972 and received a business management degree from Pontotoc Vo-Tech. Ms. Prather was affiliated with the Church of Christ. He moved to California in 1942 and drove a truck until returning to Ada in 1962. Mr. Perry drove a truck and dispatched trucks for Chemical Express and H R Hill Trucking until his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he worked part time for Holt Mini Storage until 2005. Mr. Perry was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. He married Shirley Ann Stilwell Aug. 4, 1962, at Ada. DeArman Funeral Home, Wynnewood ========= ::Rosedale Cemetery--Ada OK Ada Evening News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Sunday, January 04, 2009 TROY TIPTON FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — Services for Troy Edgar Tipton, 93, Fernandina Beach, Fla., formerly of Ada, Okla., will be scheduled at a later date. He will be buried at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada. Mr. Tipon died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Fernandina. He was born April 3, 1915, in Ada, to James O. and Sallie McCollum Tipton. Mr. Tipton was in the Oklahoma Oil Industry from the mid-1930s until 1970 at Atlas Bradford Supply where he worked as a salesman of production supplies and equipment to oil producing companies. In 1960, he and his family opened Tipton’s Bargain Store, in Hennessey, Okla., which he operated until he retired. As a resident of Ada, he was actively involved in city government including serving as mayor, and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Boy Scout and awarded Eagle Scout designation in 1932. As a member of the Kiwanis Club, Mr. Tipton hand built a Ferris wheel and miniature train for children to ride in 1950 at Glenwood Park, the actual train is now on display at Wintersmith Park. In 1997, Mr. Tipon and his wife, moved to Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mr. Tipton is preceded in death by his former wives, Rosalie Ellis Tipton and Okla Mae Rosamond Tipton, as well as his brothers, Ray and Mack Tipton, and his sister, Beatrice Tipton Miller. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Jacqueline Brown Tipton, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; sons, Troy Eugene Tipton, Oklahoma City, Jim Tipton (Judy), Fernandina Beach, Fla., Eddy Tipton (Doris), Elk City, Okla.; stepdaughter, Jeri Kolke, Fernandina Beach, Fla., stepsons, Don Shipley (Tami), Krebs, Okla., Tom Shipley (Jana), Yukon, Okla., J.R. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Ellis died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1920, at Sulphur to Leroy and Sadie Holloway Ellis. He attended schools at Tishomingo and Murray 23. As a youth in the 1930s, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped build Broken Bow State Park. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the 1940s during World War II. He played baseball for the Navy as a pitcher. He moved to Ada in 1946, after he served in the U.S. Navy to work for the Speck Young Motor Company. He later purchased the business and transitioned to Ellis Sinclair and Ellis Conoco Service. He served Ada motorists for 45 years. Mr. Ellis was a member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene where he served on several church boards and committees and was an usher for many years. He was also a former member of the Gideon’s International. He married Linelle Timmons Dew March 22, 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946 during World War II. John Marion and Ora Myrtle McGuire Jones. Her father was a Methodist minister and the family lived in numerous towns across Oklahoma. She graduated from Delhi High School and obtained her bachelor of science degree from East Central State College in Ada with majors in business and Spanish. She married Louis L. Morgan on July 26, 1940, and would have celebrated 69 years of marriage in July. Mrs. Morgan taught in two states and many school districts. She taught in Albany, Okla.; Odessa High School, Odessa, Texas; Permian High School, Odessa, Texas; Roff, Okla., Abilene, Texas, and retired from the Byng school district in 1979. During World War II, Mrs. Morgan was a vocational instructor for the Federal Government and early in her career she coached girls’ competitive basketball. She was a member of the Roff United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Louis L. Morgan, of the home; one sister, Elva Cole, Lincoln, Calif.; one brother, John Jones, Stillwater; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Gary Alan Morgan in 1949, her brothers, Glenn and Lowell Jones, and sisters, Ruth Davis, Willie Nell Jones and Rubye McCan. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Casper. Mr. Poe died Jan. 23, 2009, at a hospital in Casper. He was born May 9, 1918, in Winters, Texas, to Luther and Verley Mae Poe. He attended local schools and graduated from Big Spring High School in Big Spring, Texas, in 1937. He moved to California and worked in Trona, and in North Hollywood. On May 30, 194, he married Vinia Hobbs in Ada, Okla. The couple returned to California. Mr. Poe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946 on the destroyer escort USS Maurice J. Manuel in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged Jan. 15, 1946. He later moved to Stillwater, Okla., where he attended Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State University. They moved to Wyoming where he worked for Continental Oil Company in Thermopolis and Casper from 1948-1957. In 1957 he founded Automation and Electronics in Casper. Under his guidance Automation and Electronics became one of the regions’ major electrical contracting companies. As the sole owner, he supervised its growth until retirement in 1979. He was also a licensed pilot and donated his time piloting charitable medical flights to Salt Lake City for children in need. He was active in The Sheriff’s Posse, and was a sustaining member of the Central Wyoming Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was member of the First Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Upon retirement, the couple then moved to Oklahoma, operating their own small cattle ranch just outside Ada, returning to Casper in 1994. He is survived by his wife Vinia, of the home; four children, Brenda Uhlich and her husband Roger of Evanston, Sandra Poe, Chris Poe and his wife Cindy, Kay Freire and her husband Juan, all of Casper; four grandchildren, Burt Zeimens, Elizabeth Poe Wilson, Christopher Poe, and Ian Freire; and four great-grandchildren, Rileigh and Hunter Wilson, and Sienna and Quincey Poe; a sister, Maurine Reeve, Torrance, Calif.
