Mrs. Barron died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at a local hospice, following a short illness. She was born June 29, 1935, in Flat River, Mo. She graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia, where she was a member of the University Singers choral group. In 1971, Mrs. Barron relocated with her husband and children to Lawton, Okla., where much of her professional career was spent as manager of an oral surgery practice. During her time in Lawton, she was choir director of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. A career transition to the Federal Aviation Administration Center for Management Development in the late 1980s led to her final relocation to Palm Coast. There she became a charter member of the Choral Arts Society. In addition to her many CAS performances, she also participated in the choir at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Contributions to her church community included past and recent service as senior warden. She was also a member of the vestry. Mrs. Barron is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. She died April 24, 1997, in Ada. Mr. Presley was a mechanic at Service Chevrolet until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years. Mr. Walden was a feed mill operator in California for many years until his retirement. He died July 1, 2009. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1936. He received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., in 1940; a master's in mathematics at the University of Oklahoma in 1948; and his Doctor of Education degree in educational administration and mathematics from Oklahoma University in 1958. With 51 years of educational experience, he taught and served in administration at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Holdenville Public Schools and Junior College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Russell high School in Durant, Oklahoma and Grayson County College. He also taught four years in the Federal Aviation Agency Academy in Oklahoma City. He was the second president of Grayson County College serving from 1972 to 1982. He was named president emeritus of Grayson County College and in 2000 was named a distinguished alumnus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Dr. Wester was active in civic and church affairs for more than 70 years. In many of these organizations he served as president. These include the following: Public School Board of Edmond, Oklahoma; Kiwanis Club of Edmond, Oklahoma; Lions Club of Denison, Texas; Library Board of Denison, Texas; United Way of Grayson County; Texoma Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America; Texoma Regional Blood Center; Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas; United Way of Denison, Texas; and Grayson County Retired School Personnel Association. In 1996-1997, he served as Lions District Governor of District 2-E2. He was the founding president of the Texoma Regional Blood Center and was named Director Emeritus after 25 years of service. He served as scoutmaster, cubmaster, explorer leader, troop committee chairman, field scout executive, district Chairman and council chairman for Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award. He also received the God and County Award through the First Baptist Church of Denison, Texas. Dr. Wester served in the US Navy during World War II and was in the Naval Reserve for 23 years. He was a radar officer on the carrier, USS Bunker Hill, and received his radar training from Harvard University and MIT in Boston. After the war he served in the reserves including 11 years teaching in the Naval Reserve Officers' School in Oklahoma City. He retired as a lieutenant commander. He was active in church as Sunday School teacher and superintendent of both Sunday and Training Union. He served on the Christian Education Coordinating Board of Texas and on the executive board of the Texas Baptist General Convention. He also served as faculty advisor of Baptist Student Union and as a deacon in three different Baptist churches. At the time of his death, he was a member of the first Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Orren and Angie Wester, and his brother Jim. He married Edna Earle Roling on Oct. 30, 1937. She died April 10, 2001. On Dec. 28, 2001, he married Ruth L. Krattiger of Durant, Okla. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughters and their husbands, Walter and Glenna Causey of Ada, Okla., Steve and Nancy Alley of Denison, Jerry and Jana Crew of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Sondra Bonds, Yukon, Okla.; grandchildren Scott and Shelley Myers of Moore, Okla., Kerry Causey of Duncan, Lacey Alley of Denison, Texas, Carol Causey of Ada, Jeff Causey of Grapevine, Texas; great- grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Myers of Moore, Okla., and Peyton Connor Smith of Denison, Texas. He attended East Central University. Mr. Pitts joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1971 and retired in 1999. From 2002 until the present, he was director of security for Chickasaw Enterprises. He married Debbie Adams in 1994. He graduated from Osage City, Kan., High School in 1941 and received a B. B. A degree in 1950 from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. He married Virginia Sue Anderson on Dec. 25, 1946, at Emporia, Kan.. Mr. Asklund was a manager for Dunlop Tire Store in Topeka, and a cost accountant at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka. He and his family moved to Ada in 1953 and he became a partner with his uncle, Ray Harp at the Ada Army Store, later the Ada Men's Store. He was the owner and operator from 1962 until 1974. He was also the co-owner of Harp and Asklund Department Store from 1955 until 1969. Mr. Asklund was an active member of the First Baptist Church. He was the treasurer for Cub Scout Pack 88 and the Boy Scout Troop 13. He was a member of Ada Rotary Club, where he helped with the first annual Rotary Pancake Fry, he served as the audio technician for the First Baptist Church for nine years and was the chairman of the Ada Retail Merchants Committee the year the Annual Sidewalk Sale was organized. Mr. Asklund served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 106th Infantry Division, 423rd Regiment. He spent 18 months in the European Theatre in Germany. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal and the American Theatre Ribbon. He was honorably discharged with the rank of tech sergeant. He spent several years as the statistician of the KADA Sports Team with Keith Grimes and Jerry Spencer. He attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in petroleum geology. He married Arlene Rae Hoth on Dec. 18, 1949 in Arlington Heights, Ill. Mr. Fleet was an Independent Oil Operator and an active member of the First Baptist Church. He served on the council of the city of Ada from May, 1975 until May, 1979. In May, 1977, he was elected the vice-mayor and in May, 1978 became the mayor of Ada. Mr. Fleet was a member and former president of the Ada Lion's Club and served in the U.S. Army with the 45th Division in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Mickey Fleet, of the home; one son, Robert Fleet and wife Debbie, Ada; a daughter, RaeAnn Gossett and husband Alan, Shawnee; a daughter-in-law, Kristi Fleet,; nine grandchildren, Angela Fleet, Erica Fleet, Alyssa Fleet, Matthew Fleet, Tanner and Callie Rush, Chase and Gage Gossett, Ashlie Fleet, Summer Fleet, and Blake Fleet; and five great grandchildren. He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, men's minister leader, leader of discipleship training, backup Sunday school teacher, and served on various other committees. He also attended Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church and Thursday night Faith Builders. Mr. Hawkins joined Gideons in June 2002. He has served on the Gideons State Cabinet for the past two years while serving as director for Area Four which covered Southwest Oklahoma and was currently serving as state membership chairman. He was a speaker for the local Duncan Gideon Camp and had presented the Gideon message at several area churches. Since joining the Gideons, he has served as local Camp president, vice president and chaplin. He and his wife directed bass fishing tournaments from 1985 to 2003. They were directors for U.S. Bass and for Angler's Choice Team and Couples in Southern Oklahoma. Mr. Hawkins formerly served as a assistant Scout leader for Troop 434. He retired from Southwestern Bell on March 31, 2006 after 32 years of service. When he retired he was a manager in engineering design. He started out as a unlocated cable splicer before being promoted to the engineering group. He worked out of Ardmore, Muskogee, McAlester and Duncan. At the present, he was working as a construction inspector of the state of Oklahoma Highway Department. She was born July 12, 1956, at Ada to Virgil and Geraldine Factor Greenwood. She attended Latta schools and graduated from Latta High School. She attended Bacone College for two years. She married Kenneth Frazier on Sept. 1, 2000. Mrs. Frazier was employed with the media relations with the Chickasaw Nation until her retirement. She was a member of the Ada First Indian Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Frazier was involved with pow wows and was a Southern Cloth Dancer. Among her accomplishments was her selection as a judge at the Gatherings of Nations PowWow in Albuquerque, N.M. in 2004. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Frazier, of the home; two brothers, Leon Greenwood, Ada, and Dewayne Greenwood, Blanchard; six sisters, Pat Greenwood Cox, Ada, Evelyn Batiste, Newcastle, Carolyn Mendoza, Oklahoma City, Lou Greenwood Boston, Ada, Linda Greenwood, Pine Ridge, S.D., and Diane Catron, Tishomingo; 26 nieces and nephews; 37 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces.
