She married Claud Samuel Stanfield on Jan. 6, 1941, in Allen. Mr. Stanfield died March 13, 2004. Ms. Stanfield moved to the Ada area in 1966 from the West Coast. She moved with her family to Roff and then later to Ada. She graduated from Ada High School. Mrs. Teel was a homemaker and was affiliated with First Baptist Church in Stonewall. She and Charles Truman Teel were married Dec. 20, 1952. She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from East Central University. Ms. Sneed was the registrar at Ada High School for 38 years, retiring in 1984. She was born Oct. 13, 1913 southwest of Bagwell, Texas to Irvy Knox and Gillie Delilah Pryor Gentry. She walked with her family and siblings behind a covered wagon to Oklahoma at the age of 6. She married Aubrey Raymond West on June 23, 1934 at Free Will Baptist Church in the community of Bryant, Okla. He died June 4, 1983 in Ada. Mrs. West was a homemaker, nurse and known as “Grandma West” for being a childcare giver for literally hundreds of children at her home and church nurseries in Ada and California. She graduated as a registered nurse in Wichita Falls, Texas. While serving as a nurse at Talley-Walker Hospital in Marlow, Okla., she met her future husband, T.J. Golson. They lived in Velma where she was a Stephens County Health Nurse. The family relocated many times due to Mr. Golson’s job with Getty Oil, including Cunningham, Kan., Cushing, Okla. and Eldorado, Kan. After retirement, she lived in Tuscon, Ariz., Muskogee, Okla. and Ada. She was an active member of the Muskogee Church of Christ. Ms. Golson was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Eula Hall; three sisters, Betty Grider, Lena Drum and Beula Mae Hall; and brother Clyde Hall. Mr. Bursey served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. After completing boot camp, he attended radio and electrical school. After his tour of duty, he returned to Las Cruces and attended New Mexico State University studying electrical engineering. In June of 1956, he began work at El Paso Electric in the transmission department. In 1967, Mr. Bursey moved his family to Alaska where he worked for the Anchorage Municipal Power Authority as an associate engineer. He later worked in Centralia, Wash., and then moved to Ada in 1972 to work at People’s Electric as its chief engineer. He worked as the general manager for Carbon Power & Light in Saratoga, Wyo., and for Copper Valley Electic in Glennallen, Alaska. He also managed the Transmission Department at Western Farmers Generation and Transmission Cooperative (WFEC) at Anadarko. He worked for a short time as a consultant for an electrical cooperative in Roatan, Honduras, and most recently had been an independent contractor for People’s Electric Cooperative at Ada. In Wyoming he served on the Governor’s Taskforce on Rates. Served as chairman of the statewide safety Program for Electrical Cooperatives. Served as Wyoming delegate to the Ruralite Board and Northwest Public Power Association. Served as chairman and vice chairman of the Wyoming Managers Association. Served on the Tristate Generation and Transmission Managers Association as secretary and vice chairman. In Alaska, he served on the Four Dam Pool Board. In Oklahoma he served as an advisor on committees for the University and Oklahoma State University electrical engineering programs. Mr. Bursey also served on various committees at the state level to further the cause of the Mentally Retarded. He was appointed by Governor Keating to the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council and the Olmstead Council. He was an active member of West Side Christian Church. Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and a member of the Stonewall First Baptist Church. She married William Herbert Myers on Jan. 7, 1933, at Chandler. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Frieda Carter, Ada; four grandchildren, Marvin Carter, Ada, Jimmy Lakin, Guyman, David Lakin, Satanta, Kan., and Carolyn Cuff, Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, Matt Carter and Mandy Waters, Ada, Megan Carter, Oklahoma City, Heath Lakin, Hobbs, N.M., Brandon Lakin and Katelyn Lakin, Stillwater, Curtis Cuff and Alicia Cuff, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five great- great-grandchildren, Cameron, Katie and Kylie Carter and Laney and Lexie Waters, all of Ada; and a son-in-law, Roy Lakin, Satanta, Kan. Mrs. Davis was a nurse's aide at Valley View Regional Hospital until her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith. She married Homer Davis on Jan. 13, 1933, in Sulphur, Okla. He died March 28, 1981, in Roff. Officiating were the Revs. Michaeal Calhoun Ken Gazaway. Burial followed at Sherrill Mausoleum at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sherrill died Nov. 19, 2009, at McAlester. He was born Dec. 17, 1963, in Oklahoma City, to Kenneth Wayne and Linda Curliss Sherrill. He moved, with his parents, to the McAlester area and attended Frink Grade School and then graduated from Savanna High School in the class of 1982. He attended Oklahoma State University, receiving his Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine in 1989. He married Twylia Baker Jan. 9, 1982, in McAlester. Mr. Sherrill worked from 1989 until 1991 at Windsor Animal Clinic in Coalgate and then moved to McAlester where he with his two sisters ran market operations at the McAlester Stockyards. He also from 1995- 2000 handled the market operations for the Ada Stockyards. He was also a rancher and did order buying of cattle. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester, a 32nd degree Masonic member of the South McAlester Blue Lodge 96 and the McAlester Scottish Rite Consistory. He was a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and past President of the Pittsburg County Cattlemen's Association.
