The Rev. James Robinson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Durant, will officiate. Dr. Mark Shook, pastor of Community of Faith Church, Houston, Texas, will deliver the message. Mrs. Dunham was a long time resident of Durant having moved to there in 1956. She was born in Electra, Texas, on Aug. 21, 1911, to Charles and Alma Wallace. She died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, n Durant. In 1917, the family moved to a farm near Cliff, Okla., where Mrs. Dunham spent her early childhood. In 1924, the family moved to Aylesworth, Okla., where Mrs. Dunham attended high school. She married Archie Franklin Dunham on her birthday in 1932 and lived in several southern Oklahoma towns before moving to Ada in 1943. During World War II, Mrs. Dunham achieved her childhood dream of becoming a nurse when she volunteered to be a “Gray Lady” working as a caregiver at Valley View Hospital in Ada. When she moved to Durant in 1956, she became a nurse’s aide at Bryan Memorial Hospital. After the death of her husband in August 1963, she received an “over age 50” exemption to attend Nursing School in Sherman, Texas, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued working as a LPN at Bryan Memorial Hospital for another 25 year before “retiring” in the late 1980s. In Ada, Mrs. Dunham taught Sunday School, Training Union, Sunbeams and Vacation Bible School. In Durant, she taught a Ladies Bible Class at First Baptist Church until she was nearly 95 years old. Mrs. Dunham was preceded in death by her husband Archie F. Dunham and her first child, John H. Dunham, who died at birth. Survivors include two sons, Archie W. Dunham and wife Linda of Houston, Texas, and Phillip E. Dunham and wife Brenda of Independence, Mo.; grandchildren Steve Dunham and wife Ronda of Long Beach, Calif., Laura Shook and husband Mark of Houston, Texas, Cary Dunham and wife Denise of Houston, Texas, John Dunham and wife Susan of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Mary Harris and husband David of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mark Dunham and wife Meredith of Whitehouse, Tenn.; great- grandchildren Christopher and wife Jaime, David and wife Sydneyann, Sarah, Eric, Ashley, Sydney, Chandler, Bryce, Cole, Dawson, Jenson, Elliana and Grace; sister Bonnie Green of Madill; sister Kathy Sandefur of Madison, Wis.; brother Worley Wallace of Madill; brother David Wallace of Yukon; brother-in-law Orval Dunham of College Station, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great- nieces, and friends. He died June 20, 1987, at Ada. Mrs. Phillips was a retail clerk at Dillon’s Department Store and previously, she and her husband owned and operated a grocery store and auto repair shop. She was affiliated with the Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of Rebekah Lodge, an auxiliary of Odd Fellows. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Phillips Tinsley and husband Robert W. Tinsley, Boles, Ark.; three grandsons, Dibrell Phillips II, Crowley, Texas, Robert W. Tinsley II, Clearwater, Fla., and Bruce T. He was born Oct. 2, 1923 in Ada to Charley Jonathan and Emma May (Hutchings) Lillard and attended Pecan Grove School. Mr. Lillard was united in marriage to Lindle “Toots” Brandon on October 30, 1943 at the home of the Justice of the Peace in Ada They made their first home in Roff and they were blessed with five children, Netha, Charles, Lonnie, Dewight, and Kirby. They lived in Ada, Seminole, Oklahoma City, and Pauls Valley, before moving to Woodward in 1959. In his younger years, Mr. Lillard delivered groceries and he also worked as a butcher for a meat packing plant. He worked in the oilfield most of his life. He was the owner of Lillard Casing Pulling until his retirement in 1982. He then raised, trained and raced quarter horses and thoroughbreds. He also served as a deputy sheriff for a period of time. Mr. Lillard was a member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church, where he served on various committees. Lowell served on several civic committees, the ambulance board and served as chairman of Kids Inc. during the time his sons were active in sports. He was born April 15, 1918 at Gerty to Tom and Carrie Wallace Watson. He was raised in the Beulah/Calvin area during his school days and graduated from Atwood High School. He attended Tishomingo Jr. College and East Central State College in Ada. Before going into the military, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force from March 1943 to March 1946 serving one of those years in India. He married Imogene Bunnell of Omaha, Neb. June 29, 1946 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. In August 1946, he obtained employment with People’s Electric Cooperative and retired after 37 years of employment. After retirement in 1983, he went back and worked as one of their dispatchers for a few years. Mr. Watson was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Imogene “Jean” Watson, of the home; daughter, Marleene Watson Cupps and husband Fred, Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Effie Cupps. DAVID WILLIAMS SPARTA, Tenn. — Graveside services with military rites by the Veterans Honor Guard for David McCoy Williams, 85, Sparta, Tenn., formerly of Ada, Okla., were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 9, 2009, at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, Tennessee. Harold Thornton officiated. Mr. Williams died Sept. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born March 5, 1924, to Charlie M. and Minnie Lee Weaver Williams. He was a retired minister and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He finished three years of theological training at Lee College in Cleveland, Tenn., in June 1952 and graduated with honors from Lee College with an Associate of Arts Degree in May 1955. He was president of Youth for Christ Ministries while attending Lee College. During this time, he built and pastored the Culhutta, Ga., Church of God for three and one half years. Mr. Williams served as evangelist for the state of Tennessee for 16 months in 1955 and 1956. He pastored Rocky Hill Church of God from January 1958 to August 1962, and while there, built a complete new church plant. He built and pastored Leavell Woods Church of God for 14 1/2 years in Jackson, Miss. He chartered and built the Congregational Church of God in Jackson, Miss., and pastored there from May 1971 until 1976. In May 1976, he joined the International Pentecostal Holiness Church headquartered in Oklahoma City. He pastored the first Pentecostal Holiness Church of Ada from July 1976 until June 1994. Mr. Williams retired from pastoral duties in June 1994 but continued in ministry holding revivals and nursing home visitations. Mr. Williams married Wilma Inize Forsyth Williams on July 20, 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James Leon Williams, Joseph Dillard Williams, Gene Raymond Williams, Faison Weaver Williams, and sisters, Mildred Marie Bailey, Geneva Dare Partin and Mary Ruth Reeves. Mrs. Chapman died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at an Atchison nursing center. She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Engals, Okla., the daughter of Dan and Letha May Davis Matthews. She attended grade school in Harden, Okla., graduated from McLish High School in Fittstown, Okla., and attended the East Central University in Ada, Okla. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker after her marriage in 1949, raising five children, while also working a variety of medical administration jobs in both Ada and later in Orlando, Okla. She served as a nurse’s aide at Valley View Hospital in Ada, (1960 - 1966) and at the Alverno Heights Hospital in Guthrie, Okla. (1966 - 1969). After Mrs. Chapman and her family moved to Atchison in 1969, she was employed by the Atchison Hospital (1969 -1982) years, and subsequently for the Medicalodge of Atchison before retiring in 1990. For the next eight years, she volunteered as a caretaker, doing “senior sitting” for a variety of Atchison residents. Mrs. Chapman moved to Guthrie in 1998 and returned to Atchison in 2005. Mrs. Chapman attended First Christian Church in Atchison, Kans., and in Guthrie, Okla. In the 1970s, he was stricken with cancer and thereafter unable to pursue his chosen employment. On March 4, 1975, he married Myrtle Caudle. She died in October 2002 at Ardmore. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Jewel Jones and one brother, Burl Jones. He was born in Holdenville July 9, 1937 to William Chester and Eva May (Hawthorne) Horne. He graduated from Holdenville High School and attended the University of Oklahoma on a football and basketball scholarship. He transferred to East Central State College and continued to play football for East Central until he received his undergraduate degree. He was married to Judy Ruble in Ada on June 3, 1962. He was football coach at Pawnee, Oklahoma from 1962 to 1964 and then continued his coaching career at Cameron University from 1964 to 1970. He earned his master’s degree in 1966. In 1970 he moved to Ada and became a New York Life Insurance Agent. He remained an active and well-respected agent until his death. He had served in the Oklahoma National Guard, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada and was well-known for being a driving force for both Ada High School and East Central University Athletics. Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Chester Horne. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Horne of the home, two sons, Steve Horne and wife Allison, Ada, Jay and wife Kenda Horne, Ada; brother Bill Horne Sr. and wife Twylah Horne, Ada; three grandchildren, Cameron Horne, Ada, and Zachary and Joshua Horne, Ada; nephew Bill Horne Jr., Ada, nieces Jennetta Bagwell, Ada, and Jeonone Kessler, Edmond. Mr. Auld attended Langston University on a full scholarship and was one of the first white football players. While he was the director of Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counselor’s Association, he played a key role in the passage of law to regulate drug and alcohol treatment in Oklahoma. During the last few months, Mr. Auld established a small business in Konawa. She was born in Gage, Okla. to Ethel and Charles Adams. They moved to Friona, Texas in 1925 where she attended school. She graduated in 1936 and completed one year of college. She married Oscar Stokes Sept. 17, 1938. He died in a farming accident Oct. 19, 1940. She married Virgil Lindsey May 26, 1945. They lived in Friona and Bovina, Texas, until December 1951 when they moved to Porterville, Calif. and then to Strothmore, Calif. in 1962. She worked for the State of California for 18 years. After her retirement she moved back to Oklahoma. She lived in Fairland, Okla. for several years. Due to illness she moved to Atwood where she lived with her daughter and son in law Brenda and Bob Chapman. Mrs. Lindsey was a member of Racine Christian Church in Racine, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mrs. Sutton died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at a Tishomingo hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1929 at Las Cruces, N.M. to James A. and Margaret Rogers Dickerson. She graduated from Milburn High School in 1951. She moved to Francis in the early 1950s from New Mexico. She married Herbert “Buster” Sutton Nov. 13, 1954 at McAlester, Okla. He preceded her in death July 28, 2008. Mrs. Sutton was a teacher’s aide at Francis schools for 13 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two grandsons, Wayne Sampson, Duncan and Shane Sampson, Oakman; a step-son, Dennis Sutton, Ada; four great- grandchildren, Katelin Sampson, Rusti Barnes, Randi Conn and Ryane Conn; three great-great-grandchildren, Anna Belle Barnes, Trenton Barnes and Ashlynn Barnes; two brothers, Fate Dickerson, Milburn and Frank Dickerson, Milburn; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert “Buster” Sutton and a son, Jimmy Sampson in 1994. Bearers will be Shane Sampson, Wayne Sampson, Hershel Stewart, Jamie Perry, Steven Martinez, and Jamie Abbott.
