All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Denver Cemetery--Norman OK Ada Evening News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Thursday, September 3, 2009 AUSTIN BLACKWELL William Austin Blackwell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the age of 76. Austin was the oldest son born to Earnest Wiley (Bill) and Eula Elizabeth (Smith) Blackwell on February 28, 1933 in the Capshaw Community, east of Norman. He lived most of his life in the Ada area. He graduated from Latta High School in 1953 and attended East Central State College in Ada. Austin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was a teenager and was a lifelong member of the Southwest Church of Christ. Austin loved the simple things in life. He enjoyed the outdoors – gardening, flowers, watching the animals and playing with his nieces, nephews, and other children. He loved March Madness Basketball and was Oklahoma State University’s number one fan. He enjoyed his daily walks through the pastures with the dogs at his heels, and he enjoyed doing leatherwork and mowing yards. Visits from relatives and friends were always welcomed. Austin was a loving brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by many. Austin is survived by two brothers, Robert and wife Phyllis Blackwell, Norman, OK, and Tommy and wife Sharon Blackwell, Ada, OK, a sister, Betty and husband Jimmy Ferguson, Comanche, OK, four nieces, three nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. Austin was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Danny Stewart and Floyd Kaiser will officiate. A committal service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Denver Cemetery, east of Norman. Bearers will be Alvin Jamar, Gene Albright, Elmer Gerth, Wayne King, Roy Long, Eugene Cannon and Robert Blackwell.
