Hughes 1925-2007 Bob G. Hughes of Santa Maria passed away Monday February 26th, 2007 at the age of 81. Bob was born on September 5th, 1925 in Ada Oklahoma. 4th of 7 children by Robert & Lela Hughes (Otis, Olen, Leon, Pauline, Geraldine, Imogene). Bob, as a draftee, served our country on the beaches of Normandy driving the Red-Ball Express where he earned a WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & the Army of Occupation Medal. After the war Bob met his beautiful bride of 69 years, Frances Hughes in the potato fields of Lamont. They were married June 21st, 1947 in Bakersfield, CA. Bob is survived by wife Frances Hughes, son & daughter Ronald Hughes & Kathy Tidwell. Grandchildren Jessica Walchli, Mark Hughes, Michele Arrieta, Ty Tidwell & Darren Tidwell. 10 Great grandchildren. Brother Leon Hughes, Sisters Pauline Thompson, Geraldine Post, Imogene Barrett. Memorial services will be held at Greenlawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA. Viewing Tuesday February 27th 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. & Services Wednesday February 28th at 10:00 a.m. Greenlawn Chapel.
