Billy J. and Bette Millis (USAF ret) and passed away March 13 2009 at Ada OK. As a child with Down’s syndrome, she far surpassed the dire predictions of the doctors. Yes, she did talk, in fact learned Japanese during her years living with her military family in Japan. She rode a bike and a horse and read and wrote and was a whiz at math. She had a witty sense of humor. She loved all the places she lived and brought joy to her family and friends. As they graduated from high school, she watched her sisters go to college and insisted that she needed to go, too. She then spent over 35 enjoyable years at McCall’s Chapel School in Ada, Oklahoma, first in the cottages of that special school then later as a resident of the group home where she had life long friends. She went to work every day, enjoyed movies and gospel music and especially the Happy Land Baptist Church Jo Linda is survived by her parents, sisters and brothers in law of Austin, Texas, Dr. Carol Millis McKenzie (Bob) and Patricia Millis Bernstein (Allan). She will be sorely missed by them, her four dachshunds and her McCall’s family. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8 A special thanks from the family to all the staff at McCall’s School in Ada, Oklahoma for their years of love in providing Linda a special home. Deep appreciation for their love and support of Linda and her family is also extended to the Ballard’s Nursing Home and the wonderful Halo Hospice staff with special hugs to Carl and Stephanie. A memorial service to scatter her ashes at Remembrance Garden at Riverbend Church, Austin , TX will be held at a future date.
