She attended Clarita schools. She married John William "Bill" May on March 11, 1946 in Salinas, California. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1966 in Salinas. Mrs. May was the owner along with her daughter, Sharon Pickens of the Kountry Store in Tupelo for over 30 years. She worked at the Kountry Store everyday until the last three years. He attended McLish schools and graduated from McLish High School, and received a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree. He married Emogene Hobgood on Jan. 24, 1949 at Sunshine. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1994. Mr. Bigham was an Industrial Arts and Vocational Shop teacher at Latta High School until his retirement. He was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and was an original board member of the Pontotoc Technology Center for 20 years. She worked a short time at the Naval Ammunition Depot in the Ordnance department and then worked for the private security contractor at the base for several years. He married Rose Nell Thompson on Oct. 4, 1941. Mr. Bain was a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent in the Sulphur Springs, Texas area. When he and his family moved to Ada in 1960, Mr. Bain sold text books for Lippincott Publishers and Houghton-Mifflin Company. He also ranched and raised black angus cattle. Mr. Bain was a member of the First Baptist Church. They also lived in Gainesville and Paris, Texas, Wichita, Kan., McCook, Neb., Chickasha and Okmulgee where he worked building Army and Navy bases. He was inducted into the Navy July 1943. After finishing boot camp at San Diego, Calif., he went aboard the U.S.S. Gunston Hall and later was stationed at Los Alamitos Naval Air Base until Dec. 25, 1945. He and Pauline remained in Southern California where he became a building contractor in 1951. Mr. Winters was a member of Southwest Church of Christ and had worked with the prison ministry at Stringtown, Okla., for several years. Ms. Welch was a homemaker and a member of Sunshine Missionary Baptist Church in Roff. She was a secretary for her husband's business, Welch and Welch Pump Service in Ada. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Effie (Cotner) Grove; grandson Justin Wayne Lemons; husband Benjamin "Mack" Welch; sister Barbara Ann Fletcher. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Ms. Gibson died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at a local hospital. She was born July 31, 1938, at Ada to Clifford and Stella A. Landrith Johns. She lived in this area all her life and graduated from Ada High School in 1956. She graduated from East Central University with a degree in education. She was an elementary school teacher having taught at Cottonwood, Vanoss, Latta, and retired from Homer Elementary. She was a longtime active member of Southwest Church of Christ and a member of Pontotoc County Retired Teachers. Survivors include two daughters, Sheri Hayes, Ada, and Shelly Johnson, Ada; one sister, Jan Rowsey and husband Byron, Ada; a brother, Bobby Johns and wife Gayle, Ada; and her grandchildren, Kyndra Nemecek, Shayna Gibson, Britney Gibson, Jade Hayes, Dylan Hayes, Presley Hayes and Amber Johnson; and three great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Shayne "Bronc" Gibson on Nov. 27, 2006. Bearers will be David Hendricks, Eugene Cannon, Don Hoover, Tommy Landrith, Lanny Glasscock and Johnny McDonald. She lived most of her life in the Ada area. She was a homemaker. She married Frank Dalton Bennett on Dec. 23, 1938. He died Jan. 9, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Bennett, Pickett; four sons, Richard Bennett, of the home; Johnny Bennett, Ada; Danny Bennett, Denton, Texas; and Mike Bennett, Stratford; a brother, Bill Henry, Euless, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. A celebration memorializing Bobby's life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20th at First Baptist Church, 521 S. Broadway, Ada. All are invited to attend. Bobby was born to Daisy June and Lee Roy Wall on August 5, 1950 in Fort Worth, TX. He graduated from Diamond Hill Jarvis High School in 1968, married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Sue Curlee, in 1970. Bobby celebrated the birth of his first daughter in 1972, Dawnice Bobbette, and his second daughter Wendi Anne in 1974. Bobby became a licensed minister in 1976 and went on to obtain his bachelor's degree at Dallas Baptist University in 1977, before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. Bobby moved his family to Virginia in 1980 to work for the Christian Broadcasting Network where he stayed for four years. After leaving CBN Bobby began his career in computer software marketing and in 1989 Bobby became Vice-President of Sterling Software. In 1995, he left the corporate world to retire on a ranch in Oklahoma vowing he would never again wear a tie. Bobby expanded his family again in 1999 with the adoption of Barbra Ann. Bobby was a loving husband, a proud father, a devoted grandfather, and a beloved friend and he will be deeply missed in this world. Bobby left his mark everywhere he went by doing good for others and befriending strangers. He gave of himself freely and never asked for anything in return. He was a kind and passionate man who embraced life with every breath; he laughed, he loved, he played, and he touched the lives of everyone he met. For those who knew him, Bobby's hugs were unforgettable. When he hugged you, the power of his love, the warmth and gentleness of his spirit left an indelible mark on all who experienced it. She was born August 13, 1916 on her parent's farm near Carlton, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Roedolph (H.R) Short, her parents Ed and Lottie LeFevre, brothers Clyde LeFevre of Cleburne, Texas and Clayton LeFevre of Lufkin,Texas. Estha Lee is survived by her children and their spouses: LaNell and Ken Webb of Austin, Texas, James (Jim) and Jenice Short of Hooker, Oklahoma, Elizabeth and Loran Segsworth of Austin, Texas and Laurel and Sid Vanderland of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She graduated from Carlton High School in 1934 and married Roedolph Short in 1940. They lived in the Carlton area until 1947 when her husband's work with registered Hereford cattle took them to live on ranches in the Panhandle of Texas. Estha Lee was an active member of Stratford First Baptist and worked on the Pronger Brother Ranch from 1965 to 1972. In 1972 they retired to Cleburne where Estha Lee continued living after Roedolph's death. In 2002 she moved to Midland and then to Austin in 2009. Estha Lee was an example of faith and dependence upon the Lord in all areas of her life. She was often seen reading her Bible and praying. Estha Lee enjoyed life, loved her family, and was a wonderful homemaker. She liked sewing, cooking, gardening and collecting bird figurines. Our mother, grandmother will be missed here on earth, but we are comforted to know that she has a beautiful, eternal life in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Carlton Baptist Church, 2750 W FM 219. Interment will follow at Carlton Cemetery.
