Lucille was born September 28, 1914 in Bugtussele, Oklahoma to James and Ester Foster. Lucille was raised in McAlister, Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma she worked in the family business alongside her husband, Burl Thompson who preceded her in death. During her spare time she would dabble in singing and acting locally. Lucille relocated to Temple, Texas and was active with The First Presbyterian Church on First St. She was a member of PEO, Temple Country Club where she spent much time playing golf and several Bridge Clubs. Lucille loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Madeline Ewing and Frieda Steele. She is survived by her son, James Thompson and wife Elisa; daughter, Janet Malone and husband Jim; grandchildren, Heath Malone and wife Simmone, Dr.’s Scott Malone and wife Diana, Wade Malone and wife Jackie, Brandi Taylor and husband Rodger, Elisa Smith, Ira Smith; Eleven great grandchildren and many other loving family and friends. Mrs. Lucas died July 7, 2010, in Annapolis, Md. She was born Sept. 14, 1920, to Edmond and Anna Belle Smith at Fitzhugh, Pontotoc County, Okla. She married Lt. John D.. Lucas in 1941. He died in 2004. Mrs. Lucas graduated from Ada High School and East Central University in Ada. Her life as the wife of an army officer made it necessary to establish homes in states ranging from Texas to Oregon, Georgia, Kansas and Louisiana, as well as Paris and Orleans, France. At intervals during World War II and the Korean War, Mrs. Lucas returned to Ada. She taught in various Oklahoma high schools and while living in France she taught at a school for children of military personnel. After receiving a master’s degree in counseling at the University of Ohio at Athens, Mrs. Lucas held counselor positions in high school and Ohio State University. In 1965, Mrs. Lucas was one of 20 women in the United States chosen to participate in an eight-week seminar sponsored by the AAUW at the University of Maryland and at George Washington University. She also served on the board of National Association of Uniformed Services. She was also a member of the Naval Medical Health Care Consumer Council in Annapolis, Md. Survivors include two sons, John Edmond Lucas, Harrisburg, Pa., and Steven Mitchell Lucas, Annapolis; four grandchildren; one sister, Jeannette Mitchell, El Reno, Okla; and nieces and nephews including Mack A. She was a member of Sandy Hill Baptist Church, served as secretary for the Chi- Ka-Sha Baptist Association and an original member of the Native Praise Women’s Choir, singing for 11 years. Mrs. Scott was also a cook at The Dragon Chinese restaurant, Dutch Robbins Grocery and many years at Falls Creek. She married Chester Lee Scott in May 1961. He died Nov. 11, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Tim Scott and wife Rhonda, Ada; and Bryce Scott and wife Cindy, Moore; seven grandchildren, Dawnelle Scott, Lane Scott, Blake Scott, T.J. He received a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in public administration. Mr. Wallace served in the U.S. Army where he performed audits for the Army and Army contractors. He married Teresa G. Maddox Rue on March 17, 2000. Mr. Wallace was a certified internal auditor for Mustang Fuel Corporation and currently the owner and C.E.O. of Jetty Counseling Center. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1994 in Ada. She moved to Ada on April 22, 1971, and worked as a food services supervisor at East Central University for five years. Mrs. Jones worked as a dinner/pastry cook at Valley View Regional Hospital Cafeteria for seven years and she was a longtime member of the Stonewall First Baptist Church since 1948. He worked for Texaco and Champlin before starting his own business in Clinton in 1968 and retired in 2009. He also wrote for the Daily Oklahoman covering high school football and served as a baseball scout for the Florida Marlins and the Detroit Tigers. He was elected mayor of Clinton in 1970 where he opened the miniature golf course and recommended renovations to McClain Rogers Park, served on Board of Directors of the Route 66 Museum, co-chaired Clinton’s Centennial 100 years of celebration and emceed more than 100 events over the years. Her beloved daughter, Janet, was at her side. Clara was born September 29, 1921, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Julia May and George Elliott Smith. She married the great love of her life, Carl Ray “Boots” Ward December 6, 1943, in Arizona, and they became proud parents on September 11, 1952, in Dallas, when they adopted their only child, Janet Raye. Clara loved God, a good laugh, nature, hard work and honest people. Clara was a member of America’s Greatest Generation, and after graduating from Hills Business College in Oklahoma City in 1941, she was recruited to Washington, D.C., as the executive assistant to Edward R. Stettinius, the head of the U.S. Office of Lend Lease Administration, a critical component of the eventual success of the Allies in World War II. After Ray’s death in 1970, Clara assumed the presidency of the family business in Dallas, Tower Premium Servicing, Inc., which was the first auto insurance premium financing company in Texas. She retired in 1986. Clara was a successful businesswoman, a fiercely independent soul, and a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Louise, Pauline and Thressa; and brother Walter. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Bradford; sisters Alice Warren and Frances Halstead; brother Fred Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She married Ervin Duncan Jan. 15, 1940, and was a homemaker. After moving to the Ada area in 1959 she worked at the Blue Bell Jean Company in Ada. She and her husband moved to Moore in 1964 when Ervin was transferred with Thomas Concrete Products. They lived there until Ervin retired in 1982 and then moved back to the Ada area, living in Connerville where she was once again a homemaker.
