First, Konawa. Pam Shirk will officiate. Burial follows at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 N.W. Grand Blvd. in Oklahoma City. Mr. Louthan died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1925, to Charles Dunn “Dick” Louthan and Marie Gilmer Louthan in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in August 1947. He worked for OG&E from Sept. 8, 1947, until his retirement in October 1987. His work for OG&E took him to power plants in Oklahoma City, Ponca City, Sulphur, and Konawa. He ended his career as manager of Power Production and Personnel in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa. He married Ilma Louise “Jake” Jaquier on June 25, 1946, in Oklahoma City. He married Janice Adele Brady on June 4, 1988 in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Janice Adele Brady Louthan of the home; four sons, Ray Louthan and wife, Laurie of Weatherford, Texas, Mel Jaquier Louthan and wife, Cindy of Newalla, Okla., Pat Gilmer Louthan and wife Cheryl, McKinney, Texas, and Martin Baker, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; five daughters, Martanne “Marty” Louthan, Bartlesville, Ginny Thomas and husband Glen, Blanchard, Christy Rochelle and husband Johnny, Sulphur, Lani Walker and husband Darrel, Konawa, and Angie Baker Wallace and husband Kevin, Wellston; 18 grandchildren, Sarah Earley Smith, Joe Gil Earley, Martin D. Mr. Littell died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at a Denison, Texas hospital. He was born June 3, 1930, at Elkhart, Kan., to Hardin and Wilma Lorene Veach Littell. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Rolla High School. He attended Kansas University prior to serving in the Korean War. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew F-86s in Korea. He was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. He returned to Kansas University where he completed his degree in geological engineering and later attended the University of Oklahoma for graduate work. He married Mae Berryman on March 19, 1955. Mr. Littell worked as an engineer in the oil industry for many years. He began his career with Cities Service Oil Company and later had his own engineering company and production properties. He was a computer programmer and developed engineering software which was sold to many companies. Survivors include his wife, Mae Littell, of the home; two sons, Tim Littell, Buncombe Creek, Kelly Littell and wife Ritha, Ada; three brothers, Don Littell, Kansas, Clark Littell, Kansas, and Darrell Littell, Florida; four grandchildren, Beverly Bean, T.J. Kris graduated from University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2004. He was a LCDR for the U.S. Public Health Service and was working as Chief Pharmacist for the Choctaw Nation Indian Clinic located in Stigler. OK. Kris is also survived by his parents; Vicki and Kieth Hunley of Norman, OK, one sister; Jami and her husband Scotty Riddle, of Oklahoma City, and their two daughters, Whitnee Bosley and Khloe Riddle. He is also survived by his grandparents; Mattie Hunley, and Kenneth and Anita Turner all from Ada, OK. Kris was loved and is survived by Staci’s extended family; her parents; Ted and Lonni Boone of Burns Flat, OK, her brother, Tad Boone and three nephews, Hunter, Axton, and Hayden Boone all from Burns Flat. She then entered East Central State College at the age of 16 and was the youngest student to enter ECSC at that time. She worked at several different professions in her life such as, she was a professional photographer, taught girls basketball in Ethol, Idaho, and a genealogist. She was also a member of the Victory Life Fellowship Church for many years and was a lifelong resident of Ada. She had been a member of the Ada Garden Club for 50 years and she was also a Choctaw Indian. She married Ray Ellsworth Tipton on March 26, 1940. He died in 1996. Survivors include a son, Judge Virgil Tipton and his wife Penny of Pauls Valley; a daughter, Billie Conlee and her husband Jim of Wayne; a brother, Bill V. After leaving Susanne’s, she managed and opened new stores for K-Woolens, a department store chain, until her retirement in 1985. She then moved to Houston, Texas, and lived with her son, Ross Abbott. She has lived in Ada for the past three years. Survivors include two daughters, Cloetta Guffey Hayes, Ada, and Carmen Guffey, Waco, Texas; two sons, Ross A. Abbott, Houston, Texas, and Carl T. She was born June 13, 1930, at Dolberg, Okla., to Nim Porter and Daphene Wright Jones. She attended grade school at Dolberg and graduated from Roff High School in 1948. She married Vaskon White on Feb. 24, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Ada. Mrs. White was employed with the Pontotoc County Clerk and Court Clerk’s offices from 1948 until 1955. From 1955 until 1959, she was employed with the Highway Department in Pontotoc County. Mrs. White graduated from East Central University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and she received a master’s degree with Reading Specialist Certification in 1973. She taught second grade at Byng Elementary for 17 years and four years at Homer Elementary. She retired in 1992. Mrs. White was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Oklahoma Education Association, a charter member of the Reading Specialist Association, the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association; and a founding member of the Dolberg Cemetery Association. Jackson, 78, Tupelo, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Connerville to Huber Coil Jackson and Vivian Broughton Jackson. He married Estalene Angel on July 27, 1951, in Stonewall. Mr. Jackson attended Burrow Valley Public School while growing up. He worked for Wickham Packing Company and Trader Mills as a shipping foreman for many years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. She was born Sept. 9, 1937 in Beaumont, Texas to Elnor Venghaus and Mary Grace Seale Venghaus. She married Martin L. Stokes July 3, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Stokes graduated from San Antonio High School in San Antonio, Texas. She moved to Ada in 1972 from Konawa and lived here ever since. She was affiliated with the Ada Church of the Nazarene. She was a board member for the Helping Hands Outreach Center for many years. Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband Martin L. Stokes of the home; one son, David Stokes and his wife Sonya of Ada; one daughter, Amy Baker and her husband Mike of Ada; and two grandchildren, Taylor and MaKenzie Stokes. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Stokes; her parents, Elnor and Mary Venghaus; and one brother, David Venghaus. There are no services for Mrs. Stokes. Simpson, 66, passed away on December 8, 2010 at home with her family by her side after fighting a life-long illness. Julie was born March 9, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Harry and Marguerite Cunningham- Arnold; she was the youngest of eleven children. Julie attended St. Edmonds High School and lived in Fort Dodge most of her younger life. It was there where Julie met and fell in love with Robert F. Simpson. They soon married, made their home in Iowa and had five wonderful children. In 1986 they moved to Las Cruces, NM and later to Ada, OK until their retirement upon which they returned to NM and live in Santa Teresa. Julie was known as a NM advocate for establishing laws to help the disabled. She was invited in 1992 to join Jerry Lewis and represent the state of NM at the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and later received a personal achievement award from Mr. Lewis. Although Julie fought Muscular Dystrophy most of her life, this never slowed her down and she was always known be on the go with a smile on her face while accomplishing her dreams. Julie challenged life and lived with Muscular Dystrophy for 54 years. Julie attended New Mexico State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and two Master’s degrees. Julie was a teacher and loved working with her students as well as being very involved with music, piano and loved to sing. Julie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert F. H and his wife moved to the Purcell area in 1972 and built Vaughn’s Home Furnishings. They sold the store in 1980. Mr. Vaughn then acquired his Real Estate license and began working for Klepper’s Real Estate Agency. He and his wife purchased the Gundaker Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate franchise in Purcell and worked there for many years. In 1990, Mr. Vaughn began working as the purchasing agent for the city of Purcell. He retired in 1999. Mr. Vaughn served as a Purcell City Council member for nine years and the mayor of Purcell for one year. He was also a longtime member of El Reno Jaycee’s Junior Chamber and currently the Purcell Golf Course Authority Board. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. Mr. Adams worked in maintenance at Brockway Glass Company for 25 years and later was a maintenance worker for the Stonewall school system. He retired in August 2010 after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Stonewall Free Will Baptist Church where he served as deacon, a 45-year-member of Stonewall Bright Star Lodge 113 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and had served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1964 during the Vietnam era. Mr. Lindley died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at a McAlester hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Ada to Warren Elvin and Wanda Bryant Lindley. He grew up farming in Calvin and Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School in 1971. He married Clidia Guinn Aug. 25, 1973, in Haywood. Mr. Lindley started working in the grocery business in Stuart for Sam Rambo at Sam’s Grocery. He later went to college in Ada and worked at Safeway for Garland Nichols and later became manager at the Safeway store in Midwest City. While in Midwest City, Lindley read about a grocery store for sale in Hartshorne. He and his wife bought the Hartshorne Market in 1979, later renaming it Lindley’s Grocery, and have operated the store since then. He was also a part of Misty Valley/Blue Valley Water Company, and had interest in many other business ventures in Hartshorne and the surrounding area. He was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Seminole to Earl L. and Martha Lucille Sinclair Knowles. Mr. Knowles attended and graduated from Seminole High School in 1956 and East Central State College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry/biology. He taught chemistry and biology at Shawnee High School in 1961. He worked as a chemist for Lilly-Tulip in Missouri and director of quality control for Crown-Zellerback in Oregon and California. Mr. Knowles returned to Seminole in 1977 to assume the operation of the family business. He served on the Seminole City Council from 1982-85 and was mayor of Seminole from 1985 to 1987. He was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church on July 6, 1985. He established the Tri-City Substance Abuse Center in Seminole in 1986. He became a drug/alcohol counselor certified at the state, national and international levels and received Counselor of the Year award in 2007, from the Drug/Alcohol Professional Counselors Association. In 1992, he established a social ministry with the Cheyenne/Arapaho tribes in Watonga serving there until 2007. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and the Deer Clan where he was given his tribal name of Tuska-A-Neska. Mr. Knowles was also an inductee to the Seminole High School Hall of Fame. He also started the Seminole Chapter of the Salvation Army. He also started Easter Lint Soup and Sermon at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Mr. Knowles attended Southwestern State College, School of Pharmacy, in Weatherford and while there owned and operated a restaurant called “ Europia” where he served pizza and steaks. He married Sharon Sigler in Lone Wolf Oct. 14, 1961. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, joined Pi Beta Phi sorority and received her B.A. in English. Before and during World War II she worked in Dallas, New York City, and Miami for National Geophysical Company, an oil exploration firm. Her company later employed Mr. Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Harris were married in Hillsboro, Texas, on June 4, 1943, while Mr. Harris served as a pilot for the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1945, Mr. and Mrs. Harris moved to Ada. Mrs. Harris was active in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Ada and a longtime member of the Ada Coffee Club. She spent summers in Nisswa, Minnesota, where she was a member of the Gull Lake Yacht Club. She was an avid reader and traveled widely. Mr. Cochran was drafted into the United States Armed Forces during World War II, and was honorably discharged Dec. 6, 1945. He accepted Christ at an early age, and remained faithful until death. He worked as an auto mechanic for Rigsby’s Tire and Supply, Eskel Myers, Pete Parks and sold Watkins Products. He also was later retired from his self-employed lawn service. He married Lola Bell Bruner, Dec. 27, 1947. She preceded him in death. He later married Darlene Colbert, and Georgia Nero. Both preceded him in death. He married Linda Kay Garfield June 18, 2005, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He served as a deacon for a short time at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the Rev. J.A. Colbert. Mr. Cochran was called to the ministry and preached his first sermon the third Sunday in August 1958. He built two churches and pastored several, including Scipio Baptist Church, New Lima, Bethelham Baptist Church in Konawa, Salt Creek Baptist Church in Boggie, Angel Wing Baptist Church in Stonewall First Baptist Church, Madill, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hartshorne, and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Stonewall. Mr. Cochran served as the moderator of Eastern Union District Association. He also served as the third vice of the General Missionary Convention. He was a 32nd Mason in the Consistory Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He was a member of American Legion Post 72. She was born January 10, 1916, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to parents Albert Wood Starns and Mary Leona Winfield. She was the eldest daughter of seven siblings: James Frank, Leona Lucille, Claude Albert, Jimmie Luke, Billy Eugene and Mary Jo. Kathleen graduated from Vamoosa High School with the class of 1935. Having grown up in Konowa, she spent most of her adult life in Oklahoma City where she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. One of the greatest joys of her life was the raising of her only son, David Lynn Grimes. She served as the den mother of his Cub Scout troop and was active in the PTA. Mrs. Belt was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She was a life member of the Eastern Star Nova Chapter #263. In 1989, she returned to Konowa where she lived until she moved into the assisted care facility in Ada, Oklahoma in 2005. Kathleen was a loving mother and wife. Known for her tenacity and unwillingness to compromise on her principles, she loved people and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was very social and never met a stranger. Kathleen took comfort in her friendships and was always ready to chat and lend an ear. She was an avid correspondent and enjoyed poetry and reading. While her body may have failed her, her mind never did – remaining mentally alert to the very end. Kathleen was married three times during her long life. She was preceded in death by her three spouses: Ellsworth Walter Duncan, Glenn Ross Grimes and Harold Edwin Belt. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Mrs. Stewart died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at an Arlington, Texas, hospital. She was born April 10, 1917, in Allen, Okla., to Pharis and Edna McCellan Turner. She graduated from Gerty High School and moved to the Roff area from Allen. She married Louie T. Stewart April 12, 1934, in Ada. He died Aug. 31, 1989, at Roff. Mrs. Stewart was a sales associate for Glover’s Store and J.C. Penney in Ada. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzhugh. Survivors include her grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Stewart and his wife Joy, Boerne, Texas, and Julie L. Ballenger and her husband Daniel, Rockwall, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Alex Stewart and Josh Stewart of Boerne, Texas, Tyler Ballenger and Cameron Ballenger of Rockwall, Texas; and former daughter-in-law, Nevada Fluke and her husband Carl of Granbury, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie T. Stewart, a son, Delane Stewart, and seven siblings. He was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Robert and Eva Lane. Dick married Ann Weddum April 25, 1958. He and Ann moved to Ada in 1971 to manage Brown’s Shoe Store and later became owner of The Shoe Chalet in Ada. He is survived by his wife, Ann Lane; three children, Scott of Tulsa, Todd of Wyomissing, Pa., and Gwen Lane of Moore; three grandchildren, Shara, Justin and Krysta Lane; and three siblings, Jim, Robert and Marlene. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Ted.
