FRIEND HAROLD LLOYD FRIEND, 1105 E. 8th, Ada, civil engineer, died Saturday in an Ada hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Criswell Chapel. Mr. Friend was born Aug. 14, 1896 in St. Elmo, Illinois, son of GEORGE THOMAS FRIEND and RACHEL EDNA SNIDER. He attended Fayette County, Ill., elementary schools and was graduated from high school in Herman, Missouri. He earned a BS-CE degree from the University of Arkansas. He and HELEN ANNA HAMMOND were married in Blackwell June 6, 1920. Mr. Friend was a member of the Methodist Church, was affiliated with the American Society of Civil Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, El Katif Chapter of the Shrine, Masonic organization, a 50 year member of the American Legion and was named to Who's Who in Columbia River Section, and was a former president and mayor of the Village Council, Richland, Washington. Mr. Friend served in the U. S. Army during World War I. Rev. J. E. DORMAN will conduct the services and burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Blackwell. Committal services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Survivors include his wife, HELEN; a sister, FLORENCE E. INGRAHAM of Fort Scott, Kansas and a brother C. L. FRIEND of Carbondale, Ill.
