Miss Farmer died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her home. She was born July 25, 1961, at Ada to Floyd Wayne and Mary Jane Bottoms Farmer. She attended grade school in Shawnee and graduated from Vanoss High School in 1979. Miss Farmer was a UPC Clerk at Wal-Mart for more than 19 years. She was the Wal-Mart Team Captain for Relay for Life for the past 10 years and she was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her mother, Mary Jane Farmer, of the home; three sisters, Rhonda Sutton and her husband Kerry, Tupelo, Wendy Farmer, Ada, and Holly Wheeler, Ada; two nephews, Michael Keys and his wife Jennifer, Ada and Trevor Sutton, Tupelo; two nieces, Meagan Wheeler, Francis and Jourdan Wheeler, Ada; a great niece, Marlee Keys, Ada; and other loving relatives and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Farmer; her maternal grandparents, J.W. and Opal Bottoms; paternal grandparents, Lee and Emma Farmer; an aunt, Alma Bottoms; and an uncle, Homer Farmer. She married Lester Jobe in 1933. He preceded her in death in July 7, 1995. Mrs. Jobe was a homemaker and a professional seamstress. She was a longtime member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Harris died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at his home. He was born May 1, 1926, at Wister, to Claib and Lehmon Baldwin Harris. He graduated from Wister High School in 1944 where he was senior class president. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres from 1944 until 1946 during World War II. He later served in the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1952. He graduated from East Central College in 1949. He was on the college debate team and the Student Council. He later attended the University of Oklahoma School of Law and graduated in 1955. Mr. Harris practiced law in Ada from 1955 until he retired in 1991. He served as Ada City Attorney for several years. He married Janis Willey on July 5, 1949 in Clarksville, Arkansas. Mr. Harris was associated Kerr, Lambert, Conn and Roberts Law Firm here until the early 1960’s. He practiced law in Ada from 1955 until retiring in 1991. Mr. Harris was active in Dale Carnegie where he taught several classes. He served as master of ceremonies of the Pontotoc County Junior Livestock Show, and in 1969 he had a grand champion steer and he was active in Vanoss F.F.A. He was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church, and with Vernon Roberts organized the First United Methodist Church Foundation. Mr. Harris was a longtime member of the Ada Rotary club and served as president. He was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Home Federal Savings and Loan. He was a member of the Pontotoc County Bar Association where he served as president, and the Oklahoma Bar Association where he served on the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission. He was a member of the Ada Lodg 119 AF & AM. He along with Dr. Stanley Wagner, Dr. James Thomas, Harvey Faust, Oscar Parker and Hugh Warren organized the ECU Foundation which has provided scholarships for hundreds of students since 1970. He served on the Board of County Health Department for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Jan Harris, of the home; a daughter, Dawn-Carole Harris, Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, James Harris and his wife Nancy, Spring Hill, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Letia Butler, Ada; and several nieces and nephews. He was born Sept. 14, 1935, at Ada to Aubrey Ruel and Madelon Anderson Rutherford. He attended Summers Chapel grade school and graduated from Vanoss High School where he played basketball and baseball. He attended East Central University. He married Nancy Price June 13, 1953, in Coalgate. They were married for 57 years. They resided in the Ada area until 1961 when they moved to Duncan. In 1962, Jim was employed with O.G & E. as a meter reader. He was later promoted to different titled jobs in the accounting department in Norman. He retired from O.G.&E. as the supervisor of fieldmen and meter readers. He worked part-time in the accounting department for O.G.&E. and later was a medical transportation driver for Roadrunner Transit in Ada. Mr. Rutherford was a calf-roper and won the title of “All Round Cowboy” at the Sulphur High School Rodeo in 1953. He was one of the first members of the International Finals Rodeo Association. He was elected calf-roping director and also competed in bulldogging. He was a team-roper with his son, Rick Rutherford and also his daughter, Twyla Rutherford. He was World Champion Team Roper three different times. He was also a horse trainer for many years. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Rutherford, of the home; a son, Rick Rutherford and his wife Zenda, Roland; a granddaughter, Casie Hull, Roland; two great-grandchildren, Camryn Hull and Cambrey Hull; a brother, Ted Rutherford and his wife Bobbie, Stonewall; and a sister, Carol Ann Treat and her husband Leroy, Ada; and several nieces and nephews. He passed away suddenly after spending the Christmas holiday with family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born on November 27, 1937 in Ada, OK to the late Carlton Ray and Daisy Cantrell. After graduating from Ada High School in 1955, C.R. went on to college at East Central University in Ada. He graduated from the university in 1959. That same year he married his hometown sweetheart, Ellen Loman. In 1959, the couple moved to Oklahoma City where C.R. began his long career with OG&E. In 1965, they moved to Norman where C.R. and Ellen raised their two children, Mark and Rhonda. He was the Manager of Accounting and then the Auditor of AdValorem Tax. After his retirement in 1994, C.R. served as a consultant to OG&E for several years. Hunting, fishing, and golf were some of C.R.’s favorite hobbies. He and his wife enjoyed spending time attending their grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He was supportive of all of their endeavors. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan. Many memories are cherished among the grandchildren of Grandpa “Paw Paw”. There were no rules when their grandpa was in charge - - no bedtime was set and plenty of ice cream to eat day or night. C.R. was a wonderful grandfather, mentor and friend to his four grandchildren. C.R. is survived by his wife, Ellen; his son and his wife, Mark and Kelli; his daughter and her husband, Rhonda and Terry Cothran; and his grandchildren, Kevin and Austin Cantrell and Spencer and Sarah Cothran. David McCann will officiate. Mr. Watson died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at a nursing home at Azusa, Calif. He was born May 2, 1917, at Maxwell, Okla., to Albert Thomas and Ethel Amelia Riddle Watson. He attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School, East Central State College and the University of Oklahoma School of Law. He received his law degree and was elected to Order of the Coif in 1939. After practicing law in Oklahoma for several years, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as an officer on two ships during World War II, including the destroyer, U.S.S. Eberle, in both the European and Pacific Theaters. After the war, Mr. Watson and his wife, Dorothy, settled in Los Angeles, where he remained for the rest of his life. In 1952, he formed a partnership with Robert G. Beverly, the Watson and Beverly Law Firm. Later, in 1954 it became the Richards, Watson, Smith and VanPetten Law Offices. He served as the first city attorney for Rosemead and Victorville, and at various times also served as city attorney for Seal Beach, South El Monte and Artesia. He served as city attorney of Carson for nearly 30 years. Mr. Watson endowed the Glenn R. Watson Centennial Chair in Law at the University of Oklahoma Law School. Survivors include his daughter, Carol W. Lynch, son-in-law, Gregory M. Kunert, granddaughters Katie and Amy Kunert, and grandson, Jeff Kunert, all of La Canada-Flintridge, Calif.; a sister, Lois of Ada; and 10 nieces and nephews throughout the country. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris McCoy; and three brothers, Lewis Watson, A.T. Watson Jr., and Kenneth Watson. She was born June 6, 1937 in Lightning Ridge, the daughter of Noley and Viola Jones Holman, and was raised and educated in Francis, graduating from Francis High School with the class of 1955. She worked as a custodian for McLish Schools for many years. She worked as a custodian and nursery worker for Oak Avenue Baptist Church from the 1980s into the early 1990s. Mrs. West lived most of her life in and around Ada, but also lived in Juneau, Alaska for several years before returning to Ada. She was affiliated with College Heights Baptist Church prior to her illness in late 2009. Survivors include, her son, Larry of Tuttle; one grandson, Sgt. Logan West, U.S. Army, of Colorado, one granddaughter, Nicole West of Ft. Worth, Texas; five sisters, Lorene Kennedy and husband Bob of Harrah; Betty Victor and husband Allen of Seaside, Ore.; Thelma Bridges and husband Louis of Macon, Ga.; Leona and Mary Holman, both of Ada; one brother, Floyd and his wife Ann Holman of Ada; Aunt Matt Barnes and husband Lonnie of Ada; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Greg grew up in Augusta, Georgia, and in Beggs and Ada, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 27, 2011, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Greg was married to Pamela Newton in 1978. To this union were born two children, Joshua Alan and Amber Diane. In 2005 he was married to Angela Phillips in Galveston, Texas. He worked as a cabinet maker in both Ada, Oklahoma, and Dallas, Texas. Some of the projects he worked on were featured in Architectural Digest and also won architecture awards. At the time of his death he was employed by Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. He enjoyed working there and was proud to be associated with such a worthy organization. Greg had a wonderful sense of humor, and like Will Rogers, he never met a person he didn’t like. Perhaps that was why everyone he met soon liked him, too. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Abalos, by a brother, Alan Swearingen, and by a cousin and close friend, Steve Davis. She grew up in Stratford, Oklahoma where she was known as “Tistie” and graduated from Stratford High School. Mary moved to Ada, Oklahoma where she lived for over twenty-five years. She later moved to Plano, Texas and was employed with Nortel Communications where she retired as the executive assistant to the Director of Operations after twelve years. Mary played beautiful music for her friends and family. She loved traveling around the world. Cruises, however, were her favorite pastime. Mary had a golden touch when playing those slots, always winning a good pot. She had fun with friends and family and always had her beautiful smile and laughter. Her grandchildren considered her the best grandmother in the world because she loved without judgment. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Bourk and her husband, Robert and Judith Martinez and her husband, Arthur; son, John Pitts and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Gus Boaz and his wife, LaNell, Michelle Adams, and Drew Pitts; great-grandchildren, Clint Lee, Crystal Lee, Charidy Lee, and Peyton Boaz.
