He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1997. Mrs. Wear was a housekeeper at Ada Retirement and Care Center and later a former owner of a daycare center in Ada for several years. Mrs. Cordell worked as a certified CMA for numerous years. She was a longtime resident of Ada, a member of United Pentecostal Church of Atoka. She is preceded in death by her husband Wesley Cordell; daughter Carolyn Wilson; parents Julius and Loriene Bearden; and three brothers, Billy and Joe Bearden and Donnie Frazier. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in March 1993 after 41 years of service. He also served as a warrant officer in the Army National Guard. Mr. Davis married Mary Davis in Shawnee June 4, 1955. She died July 12, 2009. He married Latrelle Ellis on Feb. 14, 2010. He was a leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, coached little league baseball and basketball, helped start a woodcarver’s club at Shawnee Senior Center. He gave lessons in woodcarving for several years and delivered meals on wheels and coordinated Operation Christmas for several years. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Shawnee and Tecumseh. He was a charter member of the Evangelistic Center and later attended Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee. Most recently he attended services with his wife Latrelle at the Church of Christ of Konawa. He later received a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1963 from the University of Louisville. Dr. Read did his internship from 1963 until 1964 at Tampa General Hospital and residency in diagnostic radiology from 1969 until 1972. Dr. Read was chief of radiology at Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada from January 1981 until Dec. 31, 1993. He retired Jan. 1, 1994, from United States Public Health Service as a commissioned officer after 29 1?2 years of service. Mr. Milner was a self-employed truck driver, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as American Legion Post chaplain. Mr. Milner served in the U.S. Army from May 18, 1944, until Nov. 18, 1945. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Evangelistic Temple and attended Life Community Church in Ada. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1990, he was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for his work with Pontotoc County District 3 by the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma. He married Lenora Jo “Red” Winton on Dec. 28, 1953. She died March 16, 2002. From 1971 to 1993 she remained at home and cared for her family. After her children graduated from high school and went to college, she worked at Valley View Regional Hospital as an RN in the heart cath lab. She retired in January, 2005. After her retirement she became active in the volunteer group at Valley View Regional Hospital. She was a member and at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the Ada Music Club and participated in the isometric swimming class at ECU for several years. He served as a DeMolay dad, Rainbow dad and worked with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. He assisted with the first hospice (Hospice of Pontotoc, a volunteer hospice) in Ada. Mr. Jaquess and his family moved five miles west of Ada where he attended Pickett Grade School and graduated from Ada High School. After graduation, he married his childhood sweetheart, Sue Norvill on Dec. 26, 1950. He graduated from East Central State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts. Next followed a two year stint as a teacher in Union Valley High School (south of Waurika) after which he returned to Pickett and joined Jaquess Brothers Construction Company which was instrumental in developing the Pickett area. Mr. Jaquess was a long-time member of Diamond “K” Kiwanis Club and served as its president for one year. As a Kiwanis member, he drove the train and operated the merry-go-round at Wintersmith Park and delivered Meals-On-Wheels. He and his wife, Su, were members of Ada Hereford Whirlers Square Dance Club for more than 20 years. He was active in Pickett Methodist Church where they were married more than 60 years ago. They later joined First United Methodist Church in Ada. He was a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class. David Daniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. George Ann Ables, longtime Ada resident, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Mrs. Ables was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma to George McKoy and Vallie Brown McKoy on February 25, 1921. She graduated from Stonewall High School and began college at East Central State College but then attended school in Chilacuthie, Missouri. When Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the U. S. Army, Signal Corps division. It was while working for the Chief of the Signal Corps that she met Joseph J. Amato, her first love. They were married in Philadelphia in 1944. After the end of the War, George Ann and Joe Amato moved back to Oklahoma where their daughter, Jo Angela was born in 1950. In 1951, Joe Amato passed away leaving her a widow at age 29. George Ann went to work at East Central State College, initially in the Public Relations Office. In 1960, George Ann was reacquainted with a childhood friend, A. J. Ables; they were married in 1961 and built a home in Ada. In 1962, their daughter Cindy Ann Ables was born. Their family now complete, George Ann continued to work at East Central State College as the Executive Secretary for two Presidents. She continued to work at East Central for 32 years until her retirement in 1983. Her retirement was spent enjoying her grandchildren and traveling. Her husband A. J. Ables predeceased her in 1988. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Maurice McKoy, Brown McKoy and sister-in-law Grace, and Reverend Clifton McKoy and sister-in-law Maudine. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Ables of Oklahoma City and Cindy Brady and husband Larry Brady of Ada, three grandchildren, Zac Brady and his fiancée, Ashley Forehand of Ada, Cameron Brady of Tecumseh and Holly Brady of Gunnison, Colorado; a nephew and niece George and Carolyn McKoy of Broomfield, CO and niece Marjorie Callahan of Oklahoma City and three wonderful and loving caregivers, Kim Smith, Betty King and Roberta Greenwood.
