Officiating will be the Rev. Brent Smith. Mr. Gambrell died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Stonewall. He was born July 31, 1937, in Ada to Tony Gambrell and Tennie Lafevers Gambrell. He married Netha Stringer on Sept. 19, 1959, at the Stonewall Baptist Church. Mr. Gambrell graduated from Tupelo High School in Tupelo in 1956. He was a lifelong resident of the Stonewall area and had worked as a ranch foreman for many years. Survivors include his wife, Netha Gambrell of the home; two sons, Kevin Gambrell and his wife Lonnell of Stonewall and Ronnie Gambrell of Union Valley; one daughter, Elaine Palmer and her husband Mike of Ada; three sisters, Geneva Marsh, Bend, Ore., Ethel Elliott, Latta, and LeNola Marsh, Choctaw,; six grandchildren, Christopher Palmer and his wife Merrie, Chad Palmer and his Fiancé Jaeli Johnson, Garrett Gambrell, Kailie Gambrell, Chason Palmer, and Candice Molander; and five great-grandchildren, Jayne Palmer, Caydin Palmer, Ski Sanford, Jayden Palmer, and Ember Palmer. Ms. Pogue was formerly employed with Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store, Ada Physical Therapy and the Chickasaw Nation. He was born July 30, 1922, at Ashdown, Ark., to William Warren and Ida Katherine Davis Potts. He graduated from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He married Nayoma Webb on Dec. 10, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She died Nov. 25, 1998. Mr. Potts was a school teacher, coach and administrator for several school systems and retired from the Savanna School Public System. He was later a greeter at Wal-Mart. Mr. Potts had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include a son, Jim Potts and his wife Beth, Springdale, Ark.; three daughters, Tisha Todd and her husband Harold, Ada, Billie Hendrix, Ada, and Angie Smeltz and her husband Jason, Ada; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Potts; and a sister, Helen Walsh. She married George James MacRobert on Jan. 27, 1979, in Ada. Mrs. MacRobert was employed as a seamstress for the Wrangler Company for 10 years and had later worked in the Homer School Cafeteria. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Annette Hudson was born June 4, 1942 in Ada, Oklahoma the daughter of Roy and Juanita (Caldwell) Williamson. She died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 68 years of age. The former Miss Annette Williamson was a graduate of Southwestern Bible High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from East Central State University. She was married to Marlon Hudson who preceded her in death in 1994. Annette was an elementary school music teacher having taught at Cromwell, Vanoss and Homer schools. She moved to Tulsa in 2001 from Ada. She played the piano for numerous weddings and funerals, volunteering at Nursing Homes to play for them, as well as her family and friends where all were welcome into her home. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, being with her granddaughters and she loved her church family. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. He was born Sept. 9, 1922 in Cushing, Okla. to Fred W. Nims, Sr. and Lee Woodul Carmichael Nims. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret (Peggy) Gilreath on January 8, 1943 in Ardmore. He graduated from East Central University and was associated with Dierks Lumber and Weyerhaeuser Company as a sales representative. Mr. Nims was a single-engine pilot and instructor during World War II. He was a member of First Presbyerterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Nims, of the home; and his daughter, Marilyn Nims, Ada. He was preceded in death by his son, Fred William Nims III. He married Darma Catherine Broadway on Aug. 12, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 26, 2005. Mr. Shackleford was a crane and wench truck operator for Ideal Cement, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, a member of the Ada Bassmasters and had served in the U.S. Army. He also played third base at East Central University in Ada where he graduated with a degree in sociology. He was a Navy lieutenant aboard the USS Annapolis during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for San Joaquin County, Calif., for 31 years as a social worker. He retired in 1998 as public conservator. He was a member of Horizon Christian Fellowship Church of the Nazarene for 35 years. She preceded him in death Nov. 18, 1995. Mr. Neal was a track maintenance worker for Frisco Railroad until his retirement. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church and a member of the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. She was surrounded by loving family members as she ascended to Heaven’s gates. She was as strong Christian woman who never wavered in her faith. Wanda was born in Plummerville, Arkansas on September 25, 1924 to Samuel Milford and Alma Roach. She spent her early years in Konowa, Oklahoma and worked at Tinker Field AFB during WW2. When she moved to Texas, she met and married the love of her life, Floyd Eugene Covill in 1954. Wanda was full of life and was a very loving and gifted person. She enjoyed sewing, painting, baking, and being involved in her children’s activities, as well as church activities. She was involved with Scouting for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three siblings. She is survived by her six children, Willy Bond and wife LaQueta of McCamey, Eugene Covill and wife Lori of San Angelo, Charlie Covill and wife Nancy of Seguin, Norma Jean Shellenberger of Odessa, Luanne Bentley of San Angelo and Lois North and husband John of Sydney, Australia. Her grandchildren include Eugene, DuRonda, J, Josh, Jenny, Trey, Jennifer, Greyson, Barbara, Nick, Travis, David, Caroline, Owen, and Jade. These children brought her great joy as did her great grandchildren, Mandy, Zoie, Dustin, Dilon, Devin, Leslie, Tyler and Oren. John Norvell officating. Mr. Billings died on May 7th, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Bob was born on June 26, 1922 in Pittsburgh, KS to Earl and Bess Billings. The family moved to Tulsa when he was an infant. He graduated from Central High School and enrolled at Purdue University. After one year he transferred to OU and soon entered military service in World War II. An ROTC graduate, he entered Officer Candidate School at Ft. Sill, OK. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 450th Field Artillery. He later began flight training at Sheppard Field as a liaison pilot, flying L-5TMfs for the 97th Division in 1945. When the war ended, he served in the 11th Airborne Division as a 1st Lieutenant in Sendai, Japan. He returned to OU and graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1948. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. At OU, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, social fraternity. After graduation from OU he worked in Nowata designing and supervising manufacture of industrial cooling equipment and later working at the Lee C. Moore and Dresser Engineering Companies in Tulsa. In 1970 he moved to Dallas to design petroleum and chemical refining plants for Ford, Bacon & Davis. He retired in 1972 and hit the road in an Airstream trailer, which he pretty much wore out over the years. Shortly after retirement, he moved to the country south of Ada and worked as a freelance architect, among other projects building a home of his own design. He was solely responsible for the re-design of the Ada Evening News building and production facilities when the paper shifted from letter press printing to offset production. Bob enjoyed astronomy, cooking, photography, woodworking, gardening, bird watching and fly fishing for panfish along Jack Fork creek. A trusted dog, cat or current book was never far from his side. He enjoyed telling tales to friends, children and grandchildren, never letting the facts stand in the way of a good story. She attended Byng school starting in the first grade with Bertha Frank Teague as her teacher. Mrs. Teague was later her high school basketball coach. While playing Byng basketball, she was selected as an All-State Player in a time that only one All-State team was selected from the entire state. She later was selected to receive the Jim Thorpe Players of the Century Award, representing the 1940’s decade. She attended East Central State College, where she was on the president’s or dean’s honor roll each semester and was admitted to membership in the Alpha Chi Honor Society. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, she began teaching in the elementary school at Byng. After receiving a master’s degree, she began post graduate studies in preparation to become a speech pathologist. She attended Central State College in Edmond (now UCO); Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. Mrs. Taylor established the first Speech and Language Program at Byng Schools for Byng, Homer and Francis. She retired after 22 years in the Byng School System. She married Silas Peter “Si” Taylor on Aug. 30, 1946, at Lovelady, Okla. She was a member of Central Church of Christ, Alpha Chi Honors Society, National Education Association, Oklahoma Education Association and Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. He attended the Walnut Grove elementary school and graduated from Vanoss High School in 1940. He married Betty Jo Kite on Aug. 8, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1988. He later married Beatrice Dudley on June 2, 1989 in Ada. His early employment was with Stafford Wholesale Distributor as a salesman and then as a life insurance agent with Home Security Life. He retired as an employee of the city of Ada. His association with the church began in early adulthood as a member of the Camp Ground Free Will Baptist Church and then for the last 51 years as an active member of the Ada First Free Will Baptist Church. He taught an adult Sunday School class for most of those years and was a deacon in the church for 60 years.
