All rights reserved. http://www.usgenweb. org ===================================================================== The Ada News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Sunday, December 2, 2012 ANN KELLEY WEAVER SHAWNEE — Ann Kelley Weaver provided no-nonsense journalism with a smile. Weaver of Shawnee died Nov. 28, 2012, after a courageously fought, lengthy battle with cancer. She was 41. She had a charming way of fighting to tell a thorough, well-balanced story, and that never wavered. “Ann was a tough reporter who never let a story get past her. She was always professional, respectful and pleasant,” said Diana Baldwin, colleague and friend. “She was a tougher individual as she battled breast cancer for the last 3 1/2 years. I will always admire her smile and positive attitude she displayed during her illness. “Ann’s family was very important to her. She was a rock for them. She will be missed by many.” Weaver had been an Oklahoma journalist for more than 12 years. She was a reporter for the Ada Evening News and The Shawnee News-Star before joining The Oklahoman in 2002. Weaver received numerous awards for breaking news, investigative and government reporting. In 1999, she was an Associated Press sweepstakes winner for her stories about two wrongfully convicted men. Her work is featured in John Grisham’s best-selling book “The Innocent Man” and used as a source in “Actual Innocence,” co-authored by attorney Berry Sheck, founder of the Innocence Project. Weaver is a graduate of Fresno State University and East Central University. Prior to her career in journalism, she worked as a social worker and as a legal assistant. Weaver produced quality work and an abundance of it. “We are saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Ann,” said Kelly Dryer Fry, editor of The Oklahoman and vice president of news for OPUBCO Communications Group. “She was a dedicated reporter and true professional. Ann had a way of coaxing people to open up to her. Her writing talents made our readers feel as if they were present for the interview.” Weaver was among a team of writers from The Oklahoman and The Tulsa World who worked together on a project about group homes. In 2011, this won a Great Plains Journalism Awards, a journalism competition with entrants from multiple states. The project also won awards from the Associated Press/Oklahoma News Executives and the Society of Professional Journalists. Fry said, “We are grateful she shared her talents with us all.” Ann was born to parents Victor Barron II and Georgia Uremovic in Dos Palos, Calif. Pickard Mortuary and Crematory, Stratford ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ada News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Friday, December 14, 2012 ***PAID OBITUARY*** LINDA KAY MURRAY ADA — Sweet Linda Kay Murray has departed from our world, but not before providing us a small hint of how much God loves us. Linda was a beautiful, intelligent woman who treated everybody with equal respect and kindness. She touched the lives of many, and those who truly knew her understood what a loving soul she really was. They knew of her gentle demeanor, her humility, her fierce loyalty to family, her distaste for petty things. They were inspired by her music, warmed by her smile, and soothed by her soft voice. They were entertained by her adventurous spirit and by her ability to turn silliness into an art form. They knew they could trust her, and they laughed hysterically when she brought out that unique sense of humor. Her loving manner not only made them feel better, but it inspired them to be better people. They knew of her toughness, both in life and in her 15-year battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. They know now that these moments and feelings, deep sadness mixed with intense joy, only reinforce what it means to be human, to be real, to be alive. They understand that Linda’s passage from the physical world should ultimately be celebrated as a triumph of how to be, ho w to live, and how to love. They knew how she loved her little sis, Brenda, brother Mikey, and all of her nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, her parents, and her beloved granddaughter, precious Isa. They knew that Linda was nothing if not a devoted wife and mother, one of the greatest to ever walk this earth. Her love for her three sons, Sean, Zac, and Scott is only rivalled by her devotion to the love of her life, Duane. This is a love story that is both rare and eternal. She unconditionally and ceaselessly loved human beings in general. She was pure white light. Now, she soars into the heavens, tearing through eternity at the speed of light; knowing that what is left behind is only physical. Now more than ever, she occupies a place deep inside all who knew and loved her. Beside her is a presence that has always been with us even if we didn’t realize it - a light within that is too bright to observe directly, cannot be known, and can only be felt; a light that touched me when I looked into my Mom’s eyes: God. How much does God loves us? Anyone who looked into my Mom’s eyes caught a glimpse. ============================================================================================================== The Ada News, Ada, OK, Pontotoc County Sunday, December 16, 2012 STEVE LARRY "BUGSY" HUFFMAN ADA — There are no services planned at this time for Steve Larry “Bugsy” Huffman, 65, Ada.
