Ms. Mulliniks died March 26, 2012, at her home. She was born March 24, 1952, at Fort Campbell, Ky. She grew up in a military family lifestyle at Anchorage, Alaska. She worked for Alaskan Airlines and Alaskan Pipeline in Juneau, Alaska, for many years. In 1980, she moved to Stratford, Okla., and worked for CM Mays Lumber in Stratford for many years. Her current employer was with Circle B Convience Store in Asher as a cook. She was preceeded in death by her parents Clarence Mager and Ida Mae Mulliniks. He was born March 27, 1929, to J.D. and Gladys McWhirter Johnson at Vanoss. He graduated from Ada High school in 1948 and was involved in several trades, including owning an oil field service company and a home building company. He was later employed by Rock and Waterscape Inc. that took him to Texas, California, Nevada, Aruba and South Africa. He retired in 1995. Mr. Johnson was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He and Geneva Roddy Johnson were married Aug. 7, 1950, at Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Geneva, of the home; four children, Nikki and Jerry Rupe of Dallas Texas, Kaye and Steve Ely of Ada, Leisa Austin of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Richy and Kathy Johnson of Ada; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Griggs of Alabama; a special brother-in-law, Phillip Roddy of Houston, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. DOC BENNETT PONTOTOC — Funeral Services for Mahlon P. “Doc” Bennett, 91, Pontotoc, are 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Tishomingo, the Rev. Don Delaplain officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roberto Escamilla. Interment follows at Colley Cemetery, 1 mile north of Pontotoc on state Highway 99/377. Mr. Bennett died March 30, 2012, at his home. He was born on Dec. 12, 1920, Hampshire, Tenn., to Horace Claybourn Bennett and Claudia Olive Hudson Bennett. After high school graduation, Mr. Bennett attended and graduated from Murray State College in Tishomingo. He then served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1945 receiving a Honorable Discharge. After his military service, Mr. Bennett attended and graduated from East Central University in Ada. He married Carol Delaplain on May 26, 1946, in Ada. Years later, he completed his master’s degree from East Central. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion in his younger days and into his senior years competed in the Senior Olympics, receiving many awards from both activities. Mr. Bennett was a teacher, coach and rancher for many years. He lived in Pontotoc County from 1969 until the present. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Bennett and Frank ennett; and three sisters, Cleo Huff, Hazel Williams and Vera Niemiec. Survivors include his wife Carol, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Roger Stinchcomb, Fittstown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Donneva Bennett and Larry and Zanda Bennett, all of Oolagah; 10 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and a sister, Wynona Marie Phillips, Pasadena, Texas. He married Martha Mann on Dec. 4, 1985, in Midland, Texas. Mr. Hall worked in construction as a general foreman for numerous years. He moved to Ada from Houston, Texas, in 2001. He served in the United States Army and was Catholic. Mr. Cassell moved to the Allen area from Elmore City in 1957, worked as a rancher for many years, and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army and served as Scout Master at Elmore City. He enjoyed different types of hunting such as bear, deer, wolf, and raccoon. He also enjoyed ranching. Burial will be at Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard. Mrs. Bottoms passed away April 2, 2012, at Norman. She was born May 6, 1928, in Ada, the second of 10 children born to Charlie Franklin Hopkins and Myrtie Hobbs Hopkins. She attended school at the Egypt School, a one room school house in the Walnut Creek Community. She grew up helping her parents on the family farm and later married William Kincaid “Bill” Bottoms Oct. 28, 1946, in Ada. They moved to Oklahoma City where they made their home and raised two children; daughter Barbara and son, Gerald Wayne. She and William sponsored many foster children over the years through Child Fund and she actively contributed to Feed the Children and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She was a process checker for AT & T and in 1961 they moved to Blanchard where they remained living for 36 years. They moved to Wayne in 1997 and then to Norman in 2010. Mrs. Bottoms is survived by a daughter, Barbara Carol Lowrance and husband Jack of Phoenix, Ariz; four sisters, Verlene McGuire, Oklahopma City, Ellen Hopkins, Dibble, Joyce Robbins and husband Ralph, Oklahoma City and Sylvia Yvonne Jones, Blanchard; two brothers, Charles Wayne Hopkins and wife Linda, Dibble and Gerald Lynn Hopkins, Yukon; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. The Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate. Mr. Cloud passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Sulphur. Mr. Cloud was born April 2, 1931, in Konawa to John Hardy Cloud and Della Mae (Grant) Cloud. He was a 1949 Konawa High School graduate and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Clarice Scroggins June 28, 1953, in Holdenville, and he owned and operated Bill’s Grocery Store in Konawa for thirty-five years. Bill also retired after twenty years of service as a Konawa volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Konawa School Board and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Cloud of the home; two sons, Willie Cloud and wife, Brenda, Konawa, and Gary Cloud, Konawa; one daughter, Dee Stoup and husband, Mark, Konawa; one brother, John Cloud, Jr. and wife, Stormy, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Wilson and husband, Al, Texas, and Sharon Tucker and husband, Milburn, Broken Bow; seven grandchildren, Josh and Carrie Cloud, Sasakwa, Jon and Cheryl Cloud, Cromwell, Brea Cloud, Konawa, Gary Cloud, Bowlegs, Daniel and Amanda Cloud, Konawa, Sydney Stoup, Ada, and Dalton Stoup, Konawa; and 10 great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Ada for mroe than 60 years where she taught adult and children’s Sunday school classes. Mrs. Cooper was currently a member of Lovelady Baptist Church. She was involved in activities at Hayes Elementary from 1948 until 1994 helping to raise funds for the Community Chest and was a Cub Scout Den Leader. She worked for the Pontotoc Election Board for more than 50 years and was a population census taker. In the 1950s and '60s she folded cancer dressings. He was on the Maysville City Council, active in Kiwanis Club where he planned the Maysville walking trail. He served on the Maysville Education Foundation and was a founding member of Maysville Alumni Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maysville, joining by moving his letter from Story Baptist Church on April 12, 1957. He served on various committees, served as an usher, and taught Sunday School for many years. Mr. Landrith died on April 21, 2012, at his home. He was born April 28, 1919, to E.T. Landrith and Atha “Kitt” Blackburn Landrith in rural Coal County. He moved to Pontotoc County as an infant. Mr. Landrith married Charlotte Elaine Sneed in Ada on July 15, 1942. She died June 18, 2011. His basketball foundation was laid at Byng where he played and graduated. Mr. Landrith later went on to play for Mickey McBride at East Central University. After graduating from ECU, Mr. Landrith enlisted in the Army Air Corp and spent three years in active duty during World War II. Upon his return, he became a teacher and coach at Glenwood Grade School and later at Ada Junior High School. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. In 1949, Mr. Landrith became the head basketball coach at Ada High School and finished in 1962 with an overall record of 232-99. His teams won either regional or conference titles a total of 11 times and appeared in the state tournament seven times. His last year to coach was in 1962. He finished the season going 26-2 and winning the State Championship. In 1954, he began Ada Cougar Golf Team. Mr. Landrith was chosen as Oklahoma Coach of the Year in 1962. He was selected for Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Coaches All-Star Hall of Fame, and East Central University’s Hall of Fame. After coaching, he transitioned into school administration. During this period, he also served the community as mayor of Ada and a city councilman for many years. He retired in 1985 after being an Ada Cougar for 37 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Elaine Roberts and her husband Larry, his parents, great-grandchildren Will and Joy Roberts, brothers Herman Landrith and Leon “Skeeter” Landrith, and sisters Thelman Roberts, Stella Johnson and Alma Sales. He is survived by his brother Robert Moyer of Weslaco, TX , sons Monty Moyer (Ranae) of Chandler, OK; Steve Moyer (Kim) of Edmond, OK and four grandchildren; Bryan, Alex, Chase and Caitlyn. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Dutch and Bess Moyer and his brothers Paul and Max. Jim was born and raised in Weslaco, TX. He attended Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, TX and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Biology. In 1951, Jim was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and was called to active duty at Gunter AFB in Montgomery AL where he served as a clinical lab instructor. He married Patsy Joy Montgomery September 20, 1952 in Three Rivers, TX and they were married for 24 years. In 1955, Jim was reassigned to the University of Texas, Austin and was awarded a Ph.D. in microbiology and biochemistry and became a member of the National American Society of Microbiology. In 1958, Jim was promoted to the rank of Major and reassigned to the Air Force School of Aviation Medicine at Randolph AFB and later to the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks AFB in San Antonio, TX. His research projects there included the effect of radiation on body tissues; possible closed ecological systems for space exploration and the study of health problems that might develop in confined environments. In 1966, Jim transferred to the Air Force Reserve Corps and assumed a civil service position with the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration now known as the EPA where he was employed as a research scientist at the Robert S. Kerr Water Research Laboratory in Ada, OK. At Kerr Lab, Jim helped develop advanced waste water treatment technologies. While in Ada, Jim stayed active in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1976. While living in Ada, he was active with his sons in the Boy Scouts of America and was an adjunct professor at East Central University. He also served on the Ada Civil Defense Team, was a member of the Ada Elks Lodge and other civic organizations. He retired from the Kerr Water Lab in 1979 and fulfilled his retirement dream of living and fishing on the ocean when he moved to Corpus Christi in 1988. Jim loved to travel taking trips, traveling to Mexico, Central and South America, and sailboat cruises to the Windward and Leeward Islands. In the mid-1990s they moved to the Milburn/Connerville area where she became a member of Connerville First Baptist Church. She moved to Burlington in November 2010. She married Fred C. Roden Jr. on May 4, 1964, at Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Latta, Okla. He died Aug. 18, 2009. Mrs. Roden was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; parents, Floyd and Doreen Evans; one daughter, Laurie Roden; and one sister, Norma Stanley. Harry S. Truman. Funeral Services were Friday, April 27, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Granbury, TX with burial at Holly Hills Memorial Park. Immediate family members will be traveling to Norfolk, VA for a memorial service on Monday, April 30, 2012, aboard the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman. Kevin was born May 8, 1991 in Ada, OK, to Mark Alan and Kimberly Kay Smiley DeShazo. He moved to Granbury, TX in 1996 and attended school at Tolar where he graduated in 2009. He won several honors for playing the trombone and other instruments at Tolar High School. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and the keyboard, composing music and playing video games. He was a member of Granbury First Baptist Church. When he was younger, he attended Sunday School and won several honors participating in Bible drills. He was an active participant of the Youth group where he was fondly known as Kev-bot. He was described by many of his friends as gentle, kind-hearted, loved the lord, loved his family, and enthusiastic with a great smile. Kevin joined the U.S. Navy November 16, 2009 and was an E3 Operations Specialist on the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman. In 2010, the supercarrier began a seven-month deployment to the Indian Ocean in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. During the deployment, the Truman traveled more that 50,000 nautical miles and flew more than 10,000 sorties. Along with approximately 7,000 shipmates, Kevin, a radar operator, served our country faithfully and returned safely to Norfolk, VA. One of the highlights of his naval career was getting to meet and having his picture taken with Astronaut Neil Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Leonard and Amy Haught, Marlow, OK, Dock and Eula Mae DeShazo, Collinsville, OK, Charles Smiley, Aztec, NM, and Curly and Ruth Summers, Ada, OK. Kevin is survived by his Dad and Step-mom, Mark and Elsa DeShazo and brother, Miles DeShazo, Upland, CA; his Mom and Step-dad, Kim and James McAusland, and sister Karen McAusland (born on his 5th birthday) and brother, Craig McAusland, Granbury, TX; grandparents, Steve and Glenda DeShazo of Ada, OK, and Jerry and Kay Smiley of Aztec, N.M., several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends who will all greatly miss him.
