Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee. Mr Warren was born Nov. 22, 1988, to William Burris and Donna Beth Nichols. He was a resident of Shawnee, but was stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2012 for his third tour of duty where he made the ultimate sacrifice on May 26, 2012. When He was eleven years old, his mother married Marvin Warren Jr., who subsequently adopted him. He attended school at Dale, Grove, Shawnee, and graduated from McLoud High School in 2008. As a child, he was active in Cub Scouts, numerous little league sports, and earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Later he was active in his church youth group, football, wrestling, and drama. Mr. Warren enlisted in the U.S. Navy, graduated from corpsman school, completed Fleet Marine Force training as a combat corpsman, and he was henceforth considered a marine. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division (Forward), 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his great grandma and grandpa Starkey, uncle James Burris, and his precious granny Sebena Burris. He is survived by his mother and father Donna and Marvin Warren, Jr.; his birth father, William and his wife Patti, sister Paris, brothers Chance Houston and Torn Burris; maternal grandmother Carole Nichols, maternal grandfather Senior Chief W.D. Nichols USN (Ret.) and wife Paulette, aunt Lori Nichols, uncle Darin Nichols, his wife Terra and son Kai; grandparents Yuvone and Charles Eoff, Marvin, Sr. and Libbey Warren; his aunt Michelle and husband Jeff Edmonson, his uncles Melvin Burris and Philip Burris and his wife Paula; and numerous cousins, family, and friends who all grieve his absence. He was born Dec. 30, 1924, at Alco, Ark., to James Orville and Edith Marie Minick Barnes. He attended grade school in Arkansas and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1943. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from East Central University in Ada, a Master’s Degree in Education from East Central University and a Master’s Degree in School Administration from The University of Oklahoma. He also acquired 16 hours toward his doctorate from the University of Oklahoma and East Central University. He married Christine Norma Jean Hoover Jan. 29, 1946. She preceded him in death Sept. 3, 1998. He later married Madeline Jackson Holman Nov. 27, 1999. Mr. Barnes was a teacher and Superintendent for the Vanoss School System from 1950 until 1975. He was the Principal at Pickett Center from 1975 until retiring in 1986. Mr. Barnes was a Charter Member of Center Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and the church bus/van driver. He was member of the Gideon’s International and the Odd Fellows. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Battalion Sergeant. She was born Dec. 3, 1957, in Lawton to Marcus and Florence Campos. Ms. Ivey graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton and had worked as a respiratory therapist for numerous years before becoming self-employed as a farmer and selling at the farmers markets. She moved to the Ada area from Stratford in 1989 and was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, beadmaking, sewing, going to the casino, attending the State Fair and the holidays with family. After graduation she married Paul Riggs and raised three children. She spent most of those years in Moore, Oklahoma. During that time she worked at Griffin Memorial Hospital and Tinker AFB. Norma loved to read and garden and expressed her creativity with her sewing. She spent the last six years of her life on dialysis, living in Castle Rock, Colorado with her oldest daughter and family. Norma was the youngest of seven children. Her parents Samuel and Effie Laughlin preceded Norma in death. Norma was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Ryan Starr and Shawn Riggs, and three siblings: Jack and Robert Laughlin, and Clara Shults. Norma is survived by one sister, Sammy Beck, brothers Tom and Joe Laughlin daughters Paula Holcomb (Wayne), Pam Riggs (Kent) and son, R. Lane Riggs (Tashya). She is also survived by grandchildren Megan Bates, Shannon Creason, Samuel and William Riggs and great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ryan and Isabella. Father Leonard Higgins will officiate. She was a resident of McAlester and died Saturday, June 2, 2012. She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Levy, Ark., to Edward L. and Lottie May (Snyder) Banko. She was raised and received her early education in Levy and graduated from high school at North Little Rock High School. After high school she attended the University of Iowa where she studied speech and drama for two years. Mrs. Johnson left college to move to Ft. Chaffee in Ft. Smith, Ark., to work as a stenographer to help in the war effort. It was there she met 1st Lt. Tom Johnston. They married Dec. 21, 1941. In 1957, the family moved to McAlester and operated Johnston Transfer and Storage Co. Mrs. Johnston was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in McAlester where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She volunteered for a number of years for St. Marys’ Auxiliary. She was a 37-year member of the Fortnightly Club and was director from 1981-82. She was a member of Pittsburg County Extension Homemakers. Mrs. Johnston was active in Cub Scouts serving as Den mother and was a Girl Scout leader. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. Johnston and wife Jane of McAlester; three daughters, Lynette Sewell of Ada; Debbie Rodden of Florida, and Nancy Owens of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She skipped a year in grade school and graduated from Vanoss High at the age of 17. She graduated from East Central Teachers College with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish finishing in 3 years. After teaching a year at Wilson elementary west of Ada, she moved to Wichita, Kansas to work for Cessna and live with her brother Arliss. In 1941, Jean followed her parents to Oakland, California to work in the ship years where she met Bill Gregory also from Ada. Jean and Bill were married in Oakland in 1943. After the war, they moved back to Ada where she restarted her teaching career in Latta. She received her Master’s Degree from East Central in 1955. She taught 4th grade for 15 years until one afternoon Mac Stegall, school superintendent walked into her class room and told her she would be teaching Spanish the next year. The government had just mandated all high schools in the country to offer a foreign language and Jean was the only qualified teacher. Jean had not uttered a word of Spanish in over 18 years. She worked all that summer traveling to OU studying Spanish to learn enough to teach Spanish 1. She returned to OU the following summer to learn enough to teach Spanish II. When Jean retired in 1983 to take care of her mother she was Junior High Principal. She taught high school Spanish I and 2, and Junior High Math and Science. Her former students still remember to ask about her whenever they see a member of the family. She influenced many lives in a positive way and she will be sorely missed by many. His final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends that Wink had touched throughout his very memorable life. He was born on May 1, 1932, in Sunray, Texas, to loving parents. After graduating high school in Madill, Wink proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954. He then attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating summa cum laude in Petroleum Engineering. While at OU, he was also a member of LKOT (Loyal Knights of Old Trusty). Following graduation, he was employed by Technical Air Drilling Services. He later founded Texoma Air Drilling Services, which was a nationwide drilling company. As an engineer, he was credited with developing stiff foam drilling. This method of drilling large-diameter holes was used by the U.S. government to test atomic devices in Nevada and Amchitka, located in the Aleutian Islands. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Etolia Viola “Tody” Kopczynski, and three children: Dianne K. He was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Rufe, Okla., to J.T. and Ida Choate Fennell. He and his family moved to Roff in 1928. He married Geneva Dilbeck on August 14, 1954 in Roff. Mr. Fennell was employed with Mid Continent Sand Plant and later with Blue Valley Ranch in Roff. He served with Roff Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years.
