Burial follows at Lula Cemetery. Mrs. Cooper died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at an Oklahoma City nursing center. She was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Lula to Carl James and Cleo Polk Davis. She graduated from Stonewall High School. She married Isaac Cooper on Dec. 1, 1948. He died Oct. 24, 2001. Together, they raised five children. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker. She had previously worked for Safeway Grocery and at Valley View Regional Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ. Ainsworth, 90, Atoka, are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Stringtown Baptist Church, Stringtown, Dr. James Crowson officiating. Burial follows at Kiowa Cemetery, Kiowa. Mr. Ainsworth died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Atoka. He was born July 10, 1922, at Stringtown to Edward and Bell Ainsworth. Mr. Ainsworth graduated from Stringtown High School and attended numerous military job-related schools. He retired as supervisor in special weapons at the U.S. Army Ammunition Depot. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in Headquarters Company Combat Command B 10th Armored Division and was with the first ground troop to arrive at the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He was a longtime member of Kiowa United Methodist Church, but was recently affiliated with the Stringtown Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason of the Kiowa Lodge. He married Media Ann Cox on Aug. 3, 1944, at Atoka. Survivors include a son, David Ainsworth, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ainsworth, Ada; grandchildren, Lisa Ainsworth, Konawa, Landa Ainsworth, Portland, Ore., Andrea Ainsworth and Zachery Ainsworth, both of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in- law, Charley Cox and his wife Eleanor, Kiowa, and Herb Cox, Kiowa; nieces, Joyce Ainsworth of Atoka, Doris Carpenter and her husband David of Atoka, Lynda Oldham and her husband Larry of Atoka, Mary Ellen Lillard and her husband Doug of Norman, Julie Lambert of Durant and Violet Walton of Arizona; nephews, David Isbell of Nevada, Daryl Isbell of New Mexico and Gene Lambert of Durant; and many other relatives and friends. She was born Sept. 13, 1926, at Lula to Robert Nathan and Deborah Ollie Dennis Gilstrap. She was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc County, attended Roff grade school and graduated from Roff High School. She also attended East Central University. She married Charles Floyd Jr. on Jan. 18, 1946, at Roff. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2012, at Ada. Mrs. Floyd was the junior high secretary at Latta School until her retirement. She was also a self-employed cake decorator. Mrs. Floyd was a 59-year member of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) Extension Homemakers and a longtime member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Committee (OFBWC). She held various offices and worked on committees at the local, county, district and state levels. Mrs. Floyd was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Manuel and her husband, Troy, Kay Pinley and her husband, Mike, and Sue Hamilton and her husband, Gary, all of Ada; one son, Randy Floyd and his wife, Debi, of Ada; a sister-in-law, Juanita Lofland of Mustang; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifelong family friend, Ruby Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert Gilstrap and Richard Gilstrap; and one sister, Dessie Brown. Mr. Taylor died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1958, in Rockford, Ill., to Bobby Joe and Vivian Stevens Taylor. He attended Westview Middle School in Rockford, Ill. He and his family moved to Wilson in 1972, and he graduated from Wilson High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University. He married Cynthia Sykes on May 25, 1979, in Ardmore. In 1980, he and Cindy moved to San Bernardino, Calif., where he was employed by Continental Business Service until moving back to Oklahoma in 1994 to work for the Chickasaw Nation. He served as director of Chickasaw Housing and later, he served as the president of the Chickasaw Nation Industries Medical Division. His most current position was operations training manager at the Division of Commerce. He was a proud citizen and voting member of the Chickasaw Nation. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Taylor, of the home; a son, John Curtis Taylor and his wife, Jillian, of Ada, and Lindsay Taylor of Los Angeles; his father, Bobby Joe Taylor of Ardmore; and a brother, Mark Taylor and his wife, Linda, of Gainesville, Texas. She passed away Feb. 2, 2013, in McLoud at the age of 86 years, nine months and 14 days. She lived in the Ada area most of her life. She was married to Tom Martin Oct. 11, 1943. After she was widowed, she married Norrell Vandegriff on Feb. 12, 1983. Mr. Vandegriff passed away Jan. 17, 2007. She was a member of the Vanoss Demonstration Club and Pickett Community Free Will Baptist Church. She is preceded by her parents; her husband’s one daughter, Marian Wood; one son, Arlis (Al) Martin; three sisters; and one brother. He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Barnsdall, Okla., to Jessie Clement Duncan and Mary Edna Huff Duncan. He married Anna Marie Martin on Dec. 21, 1941, at Konawa. She died March 17, 2001. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Duncan retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked for 36 years from 1945 until 1981. He helped serve at Ada Nutrition Center. Mr. Duncan enlisted in the U.S. Army on Jan. 8, 1938, and served during World War II with Headquarter Co. 179th Infantry that was a part of all five amphibious landings. He was a member of Company F when it captured Comiso Airfield. He served 286 combat days until his discharge on June 26, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, five Battle Stars, American Defense Service Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st award; EAME Service Ribbon with Silver Service Star, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar, and the Good Conduct Medal. ADA — Services for Thomas Benjamin “Tom” Lamson Sr., 86, Ada, are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bob Langston officiating. Mr. Lamson died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. He was born Nov. 21, 1926, at Port Arthur, Texas, to Elbert Briggs Lamson and Clare Louise Boule Lamson. He attended school in Port Arthur and graduated from Port Arthur High School in 1944. He served two years in the U. S. Army as a military policeman in Hawaii. After returning from military service, he attended Wichita State University from September 1947 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in zoology in August 1950. He married Sylvia Modean Meek on June 4, 1950, at Wichita, Kan. Mr. Lamson finished his university studies for medical technology at the Medical College of Georgia, School of Medical Technology in Augusta, Ga., and took his first position in Ada, Okla., in 1953 where he specialized in blood banking and immunology and later earned a master’s degree in education that enabled him to help with the East Central State College medical technology program. On Jan. 31, 1990, Mr. Lamson retired after a long career at Valley View Regional Hospital. Mr. Lamson had served as past treasurer and president of Oklahoma Society for Medical Technologists, past member of the American Society for Medical Technologists and the American and South-Central Association of Blood Banks. He was the first Oklahoma medical technologist to become registered as a blood bank specialist in 1955 through the American Association of Blood Banks and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He served two times as a board member of the local Rotary club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. During his retirement, Mr. Lamson volunteered as a tax preparer for AARP and helped with Meals on Wheels. He and his wife were members of the First United Methodist Church. He had served on the Administrative Board as Chairman, served on many different committees and was active in Sunday School Class. Dr. Berger was called into active duty in 1952 during the Korean War and was stationed in Puerto Rico and was discharged in 1954. After his discharge, he attended the University of Oklahoma and did his residency in internal medicine. Dr. Berger had a medical practice in Oklahoma City at St. Anthony’s Hospital for about 30 years until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Ada in 1999. He moved to Tulsa in September 2011. Dr. Berger was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ada. Juanita served the patients and doctors at the Sugg Clinic for over 30 years as the medical technologist and where she also managed the Laboratory. She worked from 1938 until retiring in 1980. Mrs. Robertson was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Ada where she taught the senior classes for several years. Juanita was a skilled seamstress and loved quilting and making gifts for others as well as sewing for various charitable organizations. She moved to Arizona in 2005 where she split her time between Scottsdale and Sedona. She enjoyed bridge, concerts, and theatre and attracted a wide range of friends and admirers. She was gifted with enormous intellect and wit which drew all who knew her closer. She will be missed by her family and the friends she attracted in Oklahoma and Arizona. He was born in Ada to Robert F. Kelso Sr. and Georgia Faye Kelso. Bob was an All-American and All-Stater in football for the Ada Cougars, where he attended high school. Bob was recruited and went on to play football for the University of Oklahoma. He obtained his bachelor of science in business administration along with an accounting degree from East Central University in 1968. He served as Student Senate president his junior year and was a member and officer of the fraternity. It was while he was a student at ECU that he met and married Lynne Ella (Smith) Kelso. She preceded him in death in 2007. They shared 39 years of marriage together and had two daughters, Christina “Christi” Lynne and Georganne. After graduation, Bob and his family moved to Tulsa, where he was employed by Amoco. In 1976, he began working with the Internal Revenue Service. He was sent to school for computer programming and retired from the IRS after 27 years in 1999. Mr. Manuel died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at a veterans' center Sulphur. He was born July 28, 1926, in Coal County to Shelton Isaccs Manuel and Dora McCabe Manuel. Mr. Manuel attended Ada High School. He owned and operated Manuel Station and Garage in Ada for 25 years, was a lifelong resident of Ada and a member of Southwest Church of Christ. He spent the majority of his life building race cars and racing, while through racing he received many trophies. He married Mary Fennell on October 16, 1943, in Konawa. He served in World War II in the United States Army, serving in the 551st Quartermaster Grave Registration Battalion. His battalion was responsible for the care of the American military that lost their lives serving their country in Holland. Through this they created the only American military cemetery called the Netherlands Cemetery in Holland. Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Mr. Hodges was a pharmacist at Bryan’s Drug, later known as McCortney’s Drug and later at Doctors Park Pharmacy. He later was owner of several car washes in Ada and with his brothers owned and operated car washes in Oklahoma City, Norman, Ardmore and Durant. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ada and had also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Survivors include his wife, Jovan Hodges, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri Jovan and David Buckley of Chicago, Ill., and Judy and Frank Hise of Allen, Texas; a brother, Rickie Hodges of Ardmore; sister-in-law, Pat Hodges of Norman; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Tripp, and Rachel Hise, and Carmen and Teagan Buckley.
