Mrs. Wills died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her home. She was born April 21, 1926, in Lamar, Colo., to A.F. and Pearl Osborne. She graduated from Hooper High School in Hooper, Colo., and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Adams State College and Masters Degree in Counseling from Wayne State College. She was a high school teacher, librarian and counselor. She came to this area in the fall of 2005 from Victoria, Texas. She married Dr. Stanley E. Wills on May 30, 1947, in Alamosa, Colo. He died Oct. 13, 2005. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include three daughters, Martha Pennington, Ada, Karen Kelton and husband Phil of Austin, Texas, and Kristi Kennedy and husband Kevin of Radcliff, Ky.; two sons, Kyle Wills, Huntsville, Texas, and Sean Wills and wife Anna of Kearney, Neb.; eight grandchildren, John Pedersen and wife Kaity, Steven Pedersen, Kevin Kelton, Erica Harris and husband Drew, Seth Wills, Christina Webber and husband Charles, Aaron Nosich Kennedy and Katherine Kennedy; one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Harris; one sister, Ruby Cole, Grand Junction, Colo. She was born Dec. 7, 1931, to Rex and Thelma Travis in Allen, Okla. Services were Saturday at Yukon. She graduated from Foster Hill High School. She married Charles R. Janssen in 1950 in Oklahoma City, and together they had four children. They moved to Ada in 1969, where she opened and ran Lillian’s Fabric and Bridal for several years before becoming a Realtor. Mrs. Janssen is preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Lee. Bavis in Langhorn, Pa., on Aug. 31, 1934. He died May 19, 1962. In 1957, she attended Chiloco Boarding School where she met her future husband, Harvey. They were married March 1, 1965, in Oklahoma City. She was in the medical field most of her life, spending 19 years working at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City. She is preceeded in death by her husband, both parents, two sisters, three brothers, one son, three daughters, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She grew up in the Oil Center community and graduated from Vanoss High School in 1964 at the age of 16. She immediately pursued a college degree in education. She received a bachelor of science in education in 1968, a master of science in education in 1977, and a master of science in human services in 1985. She was a member of Mensa, a high-IQ society. She married George Michael Gilliam on June 10, 1966. Mrs. Gilliam was an educator, counselor and mentor. She taught second grade at Justice Elementary School and then kindergarten at Vanoss. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1985, and then she began a career that lasted 27 years at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she retired June 30, 2011. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Mike Gilliam, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Maggie Gilliam and their two children, Aaron and Natalie of Dallas, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Misty Gilliam and their four children, Kase, Kyler, Noah and Tanner of Ada; her daughter and son-in-law, Kory and Cameron Lewis of Oklahoma City; and her brother, George Welch, Oil Center. He was born March 31, 1999, in Ada to Tommy Ralph and Nicki Annette (Jett) Griffin. A Tupelo student, he attended Coalgate school in kindergarten and first grade, then attended Tupelo School for second through eighth grades. Survivors include his mother, Nicki Griffin of Ada; his father, Tommy Griffin of Coalgate; four brothers, Jared Griffin of Coalgate, Tyler Griffin of Coalgate, Cary Griffin of Carrolton, Texas, and Dusty Griffin of Carrolton; his grandparents, Jim and Jerry Jett of Holdenville; his grandmother Janice Griffin of Coalgate; his great-grandmother, Zelda Ridley of Coalgate; and numerous other relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Shortly after Mr. Morris and his twin sister were born, their mother, Emma, died and then so did his little twin sister. He grew up in the Stratford area. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served during World War II. A Navy buddy of Mr. Morris' from Alabama introduced him to his sister, Pearlie Mae Pelfrey. They were married Feb. 25, 1946, in a furniture store in Oneonta, Ala. The following year, after the birth of their first daughter, they moved to Oklahoma. In the following years, they had six more daughters and one son. They moved to Stratford in 1954 and raised their family on Red Bird Hill farm north of Stratford. Mr. Morris made a living building houses and founded Stratford Diamond Star Homes. He also opened a hardware store. Later he went to school and recieved his realtor license. He then owned Stratford Sunshine Real Estate. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Stratford Masonic Lodge and Stratford American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearl; one grandson, Cody Smith; and one brother, Elvis Morris. He married Rachel Beam on Dec. 14, 2001. Mr. Turner taught special education at Latta Schools for nine years and was a lifetime member of Crosspointe Church. He was an umpire and referee for baseball, softball and basketball through OSSAA. He was a member of Troop 13 of the Boy Scouts of America and an Eagle Scout. He was born April 20, 1925, in Vanoss to A.H. and Mary Alice Mullins White. He attended grade school at McLish and Vanoss and graduated from Vanoss High School. His family is in the History of Vanoss as the White family with all six children’s names starting with the letter “V”. Mr. White served in the United States Navy from Feb. 7, 1945, until being honorably discharged as a fireman, second class, on Nov. 26, 1945. He worked at Denco Bus Lines while attending East Central State College. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He then worked at Montgomery Ward in the furniture department for 27 years. He owned and operated White Furniture for four years before being appointed as the Pontotoc County Treasurer from 1981 until 1992. He married Ila Faye Jones on Feb. 24, 1952. She died Dec. 1, 2010. Mr. White was active in the Democratic Party on the local level in the Homer precinct and state level as a delegate. He was recently awarded the Heritage medal from the Pontotoc County Democratic party for all the work and support he had given over the years. He served as the Pontotoc County treasurer and held the office of president of the regional and state levels of the County Treasurer’s Association. He received the “Most Valued Democratic Elected Official” in 1985. Mr. White was a longtime active member of Trinity Baptist Church. He organized the Vanoss Education Foundation and was a charter member of the Dolberg Cemetery Association. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Lynn White-Burris, Ada; grandson, Jeremy Alan Burris and his wife Lisa of Ada; granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Heath and her husband T. His first poem, “A Letter from Heaven,” was written the day of the Oklahoma City bombing. Mr. Horton was a member of Lightning Ridge Baptist Church.
