The Rev. Ken Wolf will officiate. Mr. Luper died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1942 in Wanette to Tag and Inez Brown Luper. He attended Byng schools and graduated from Wewoka High School. Mr. Luper was the owner and operator of Dee’s Trim Shop from 1978 until the present. Formerly, he was employed at Ada Top Shop. Survivors include a son, Kevin Luper and wife, Lela, of Ada; a grandson, Jakob Luper of Ada; and his brothers and sisters, Alvin, Billy Ray, Arrlene, Bonnie Sue, Quanah and Terry. Emmit was one of five sons born to Emmit and Emma Lynch of Centrahoma. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edith B. Serving multiple tours in Vietnam, Emmit flew a Cobra attack helicopter for the Army followed by a long career in government service. Emmit was loved by many and will be missed by his family and friends. He was born Oct. 16, 1932, at Lightning Ridge, Okla., to Joseph Samuel and Mary Alice (Oliver) Gurley. Mr. Gurley graduated in 1951 from Fitzhugh High School in Fitzhugh, Okla. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years in active duty and four years in the reserves. In 1960, he and his wife, Ruth, moved to Belmont. Mr. Gurley joined the Belmont Fire Department in 1960 and held various positions, such as battalion chief and fire inspector. After 23 years with Belmont Fire /South County Fire Department, he retired. A year later, he began his second career of more than 15 years in the security field, working for Woodlake Apartments in San Mateo, Calif., and College of Notre Dame in Belmont. In addition, Mr. Gurley spent five years coaching girls’ softball with the Belmont Bobby Sox Softball Association. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gurley was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (married 48 years), as well as two sisters, Sylvia Breeden and Mary Ellen Williams and one brother, Joseph Clifford Gurley. Survivors include two children, Ken D. Mr. Moon was president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity while at East Central University. He married Shannon Lazarski on Sept. 10, 1999, in Killeen, Texas. Mr. Moon was a Food and Drug Administration scientist at Pine Bluff Research Center through the U.S. Health Services. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 29, 1998, and received a medical discharge Jan. 21, 2002. Mr. Sales began his 42 years in education at Vanoss, Okla., as a coach and industrial arts teacher. He was a coach, principal and superintendent at Harrold Independent School District. He then was a junior high school principal for one year and a high school principal at Electra ISD until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Sales was a 60-year 32nd degree Mason, a member of both Texas and Wichita Archer Retired Teachers Association and Robb Scholarship Board. He served on Wichita County Child Welfare Board, Lion’s Club and Rotary Club. He was a member of National and Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. He is listed in the “Who’s Who in American Education” and the Oustanding Ex-Teacher Association. Mr. Sales has been honored many times for his various achievements. Mr. Seaton died Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Norman. He was born June 25, 1921, near Elmore City to James Owen and Etta Wilson Seaton. He graduated from Clarendon High School (Texas) and Clarendon Jr. College. Mr. Seaton also earned his bachelor’s degree in education from East Central State College (1946) and a master’s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma (1953). Mr. Seaton enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. His support group participated in the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach and then went to the Pacific to prepare for the invasion of Japan. He was discharged to inactive duty in 1946 with a rank of lieutenant (j.g.). After discharge from the Navy, he returned to East Central to complete his college education and he met his future wife, Elva Hardage, there. They were married on July 12, 1946. Mr. Seaton was a teacher, elementary school principal and superintendent at Elmore City from 1946 to 1957. He then worked for the Vocational Rehabilitation division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services from 1957 until his retirement in 1986, with offices in Ardmore and Ada. Mr. Seaton was active at First Baptist Church of Ada, serving as a deacon and as the Adult Men’s Sunday School teacher for 37 years. He was also active in Ada Kiwanis Club and Ada Prime Timers. Mr. Childers was a real estate developer, was named an Outstanding Young Oklahoman in 1972 and was a licensed pilot. He was also a member of the ECU Alumni Association. Survivors include his wife, Betty Childers, of the home; two daughters, Cara Childers and her fiancé, Jeff Waters, of Ada, and Amy Elliott and her husband, Tim, of Ada; a brother, Don Childers and his wife, Annette, of Ada; a sister, Linda Wells of Ada; and five grandchildren, Maximillian Elliott, Dexter Elliott, Evangeline Elliott, Mekenzie Rockey and Zoe Rockey and their father, Richard Rockey.
