Services for Elmer Lee Keys, 77, of Shawnee, formerly of Ada, are 10 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; the Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Mr. Keys died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Lindsay to Owen Thomas and Della Thompson Keys. He attended Ada schools. He married Norma Sue Hood July 5, 1955. She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2005. Mr. Keys was a self-employed carpenter and had been a truck driver for Flowers Oil Company. Mr. Keys had also been employed with Pontotoc County District #1. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Blue. He participated in the Underwater Atomic Test ?Operation Wigwam? in 1955. He was honorably discharged in November 1957. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Jones and husband Darrell of Shawnee and Michelle Williams of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Justin Robertson, Thomas Keys and Keegan Williams; and five great grandchildren, Jesse and Justin Robertson, Nate and Nolan Keys, and Paisley Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Sue Keys; and a son, Mickey Lee Keys; two sisters, Ruth Keys and Dorothy Hughes; and a brother, Leroy Keys. Services for Johnny Terry Dean Bryan, 65, of Ada are 3 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; the Rev. Danny Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Five-Mile Cemetery, east of Ada. Mr. Bryan died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born in Ada to Audie and Geraldine Melton Bryan. John attended the early elementary grades at Happyland. He later enrolled in Byng School and graduated from Byng High School in 1967. He attended East Central University and completed two degrees by 1985. During high school, he worked as a mechanic to earn money for college tuition. John joined the U. S. Army Reserve Unit and fulfilled his service time. He began working part-time at the local auto supply stores and later became fulltime at the B & M Parts on Main Street before accepting a position of store manager for the A & K in Holdenville. John married Judy in 1973. He began a teaching career with the Southwest Region School District in Alaska that lasted from 1979 to 2001. During the 22 years in the Yu'pik Eskimo village of Manokotak, Alaska, his job duties included teaching high school industrial arts and some elementary classes, counseling at ten itinerate schools within the Southwest Region School District, sponsored student training travel and administered the ASVAB and ACT testing. He retired and returned to his home in Happyland. Survivors include his wife, Judy Bryan, of the home; two daughters, Katrina Allen and husband Steve and granddaughters, Tabitha and Courtney, all of Holdenville, and future great grandson, Preston Thomas Brewer, and Amanda Nave and husband Howard of Blackwell; one brother, Glen Bryan and wife Doris of Vamoosa; an aunt, Alene Morris of Clinton, TN; uncle, Walter Melton, Jr. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a brother, Melvin Dewayne Bryan. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God since 1958. She lived in Ada from 1972, moving to Fitzhugh eight years ago. She married Sylvester Gipson May 22, 1982, in Ada. Mr. Lillard died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at a local nursing home. He was born Nov. 1, 1921, at Lula to Paul F. Lewis Lillard and Jessie Mable Baker Lillard. He attended Tupelo grade school and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps July 28, 1942, and served as an aircraft line chief, squadron first sgt. and group sgt/major. He was honorably discharged Dec. 31, 1945. He married Alma Newell Feb. 3, 1946, in Stonewall, and they have been married for 68 years. They lived in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado, where he served as area manager for Lane Wells Company. He and his family moved back to Oklahoma in 1958, where he was employed with Arkla Gas Company, retiring in 1982, and was also a former member of the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Lillard was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Alma Lillard, of the home; a son, Jim Lillard and wife, Linda, of Ada; one granddaughter, Jaylea Lillard of Ada; a niece ,Martha O'Rear of Allen, Texas; and a nephew, Lloyd Trease and wife, Nelda, of Edmond. She was born July 21, 1929, in Madera, California. Dixie married Ken Yerger and together they had two sons, Robert and Ronald Yerger. Dixie was pre-deceased by her first husband Ken, and her second husband Judson Flickinger. She was also pre-deceased by her youngest son Ron. In April of 1960, Dixie married Judson Flickinger and their combined family totaled 5 children. Judson and Dixie lived in many states throughout their married life, but the greatest home of all was the ranch they bought in Ada, Oklahoma. Dixie loved Oklahoma with a passion, refusing to give up her friends (who Dixie regarded as her Oklahoma family) to move back to California where all of her family reside. Dixie is survived by her son, Bob Yerger (Deborah); Step children: Jim Flickinger (Marty), Norman Flickinger (Audrey), Sandra Todd (Jerry); Grand children: Vmeent, Rhonda and Andrew Yerger; Step grand children: Jeni, Sarah, Emily and Eric Flickinger; one great granddaughter, one great grandson and eight great step grand children. Before Jud passed, Dixie bought a little 7 acre place where she could have her beloved horses. After her old horses died, she asked her best friend Londa Foster, to bring a couple of her horses over, just so she could look out and see horses on the property. Dixie was a very strong-willed character. She loved to laugh, run and breed her quarter horses and to WIN! To Dixie life wasn?t worth living without a horse. He was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Konawa to Simp and Pearl (Manuel) Poston.At a young age, Mr. Poston began working in the local grocery stores. He worked at the Piggly Wiggly, Redbud Grocery and Bill's Grocery. After they closed, he later worked in the kitchen at the Tucker Nursing Home in Konawa. He married Mildred Myatt on June 15, 1961, in Konawa. She preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1999. Mr. Poston is survived by two daughters, Jeanetta Poston of the home and Janice King and her husband Randy of Waldron, Arkansas; one sister, Juanita Dunlap of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Grant and husband Bobby Motley of Konawa, Charles Grant, Jr. of Ada and Dakota House of Waldron, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Chase Motley, Rachael Motley and Jaden Grant; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. He was born July 27, 1940, to Harold and Alberta White at Idaho Springs, Colorado. The family later moved to Silverton, Colorado, and then to Montrose, Colorado, where Billy attended high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1958 until 1961. He married Mary Ruth Smith in 1958. Together they had three sons: Harold William II (Willie), Kenneth Gordon (K.G.), and Gregory Lynn. He divorced and later married Rita Joy Shinn Dec. 14, 1966. They had a son, Clinton Wesley and a daughter Dawn Elizabeth. After moving to Grants, New Mexico, upon his discharge from the Navy, Billy was employed as a miner in the uranium industry. After a serious mining accident in 1969, he went to school to become a business machine technician and was employed by Remington Rand at Gallup, New Mexico. He returned to mining and the family moved to Bluewater Lake, Thoreau, New Mexico, in 1976. Their final move was to Oklahoma in 1981 where they purchased a small farm near Fittstown and raised cattle. He was a lifetime member of Grants-Milan Elks Lodge #2053 where he had been a member of over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his infant son Gregory, his parents, a sister Carol Griffey of Sacramento, California, and a grandson Shadoe William White of Fittstown as well as his dog Jake. He worked at M & P Grocer to put himself through college. Mr. Reed had been employed at the Holcim cement plant in Ada from 1972 until his retirement in 1986. Prior to Holcim, he was district manager for National Life Insurance Company until 1972. He served as a scoutmaster and assistant scoutmaster, guiding many local scouts. He was a hunter and fisherman. He spent the majority of his earlier years attending basketball games and Cub Scout outings, ceremonies and special events and then spent his later years taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fishing and camping. Mr. Reed died after a lengthy battle with emphysema. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one daughter, Terri Love. He was a retired concrete finisher and was also in the Army National Guard and the military police. While attending River of Life Church earlier in his life, Mr. Byrd was very active in a nursing home ministry. He also served as a deacon of the church. He became pastor of the Hope Full Gospel Church in Seminole. He retired from full-time ministry in early 2014. However, he returned to River of Life and served in preaching part-time and also resumed nursing home ministry. Father John D. Norvell will officiate. Roy died Sunday, October 26, 2014, at an Oklahoma City hospital surrounded by his wife and family. He was born November 24, 1978, in Ada to Hipolito and Teresa Rodriguez Vazquez. Roy attended Ada schools and graduated from East Central University. He worked for the family business as the general manager at Polo's and as a co-owner of the Whip Dip. Survivors include his wife, Penny Vazquez, of the home; his parents, Hipolito and Teresa Vazquez of Ada; brother, Rick Vazquez and wife, Ginger of Ada; his sisters, Rosa Stout and husband, James of Ada and Yoli Vazquez of Ada; his mother-in-law, Becky Ebanks; his father-in-law, Chester Ebanks; sister-in-law, Toni Ebanks; brother-in-law, Shea Ebanks and wife, Kim of the Grand Cayman Islands; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Cesar, Nick, Alyssa, Faith, Stephen, David, Bubba, Emma, Sadie, Wilson and Esmae; and his four-legged son, Spur the cat. Roy's undying loyalty for his favorite sports teams ? OU, the Cubbies, Spurs and Bills ? will certainly be remembered by those who knew him. Roy now has a front row seat to all the games and is probably working on pulling strings to get his Cubbies in next year's World Series. Roy had a loving and gentle soul who loved all creatures and which showed when he played with his nieces and nephews. He left us too soon and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He graduated from Coalinga High School in Coalinga, California, in 1964. He married LaDonna Gale Welch on June 10, 1966, and they spent 47 years together working and raising their family in Ada. She preceded him in death May 9, 2013. For over 30 years Mike owned his own backhoe service and moved dirt across Oklahoma. He won several awards for the 1937 Chevy pickup he restored. Mr. Gilliam was also a stockcar driver for 16 years at tracks across Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kory and Cameron Lewis of Oklahoma City; his son, Kurt Gilliam of Ada; his son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Maggie Gilliam of Dallas; his sisters Elaine Shelton of Ada and Brenda Tatum of Moore; his brother Terry Forehand of Slaughterville; and his mother, Mildred Forehand of Ada.
