Albert Lee Denzil Jordan went home to meet his Savior Nov. 27, 2015, in Brownfield, Texas. Denzil was born Dec. 28, 1920, to Clar?ence and Mollie Jordan in Hickory. He farmed in Meadow and Gomez before moving to Ravia and Troy, where he made a living as a great cattleman. He was a member of the Mill Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek. Denzil was never a complainer. He was a prayer warrior and loved his family and friends, and he would do anything for anyone. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mill ?Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jonathan Smith and Darryl Patrick will officiate. Burial will follow at Troy Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wives Willie Lou Jordan and Vivian Bynum Jordan; two sons, Robert Clarence Jordan and an infant son, Albert Lee Jordan; six brothers, Clarence, John, Dell, George, Everett and Elzie; and one sister, Willie Ready. Survivors include his son, Gerald Don Jordan and wife Linda of Brownfield; and two stepsons, Don and Jerry Bynum. He also had four grandchildren, Chase Jordan of Cactus, Texas, Gary Jordan and wife Traci of Andrews, Texas, Danny Jordan and wife Angela of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Shawn and wife Kristi of Lubbock, Texas. Great-grandchildren include Justin, Taylor, Jathan, Jake, Cody and wife Fallon, Brandon, Harlee, Devin, Emma, Tanner and Javen. He also had two great-great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Brock. He had lots of special nieces and nephews and a friend that called him "Dad," and he called her his daughter, Janet Crenshaw. Donald Ray (Donnie) Bonner of Stratford was born April 18, 1938, in Byars to Melvin and Mary Ellen (Newton) Bonner. He passed away Nov. 27, 2015, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 77. Donnie grew up in the Byars area and graduated from Byars School. He married Neta Bryan May 16, 1959, in Stratford. He worked for Ada Block and then for Garvin County until retirement. He lived in the Stratford and Byars area all his life. He was a member of Stratford Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl Wayne and Royce Bonner; and one grandson, Baby Boy Treat. He is survived by his wife, Neta Bonner of the home; two sons, Kenny Bonner and wife Danielle of Stratford and Ronnie Bonner and wife Deana of Newalla; one daughter, Sheila Treat and husband Kenny of Durant; one brother, Buddy Bonner and wife Shirley of Pauls Valley; one sister in law, Ann Bonner of Stratford; 13 grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Jennifer, Angela, Toby, Chance, Colton, Riley, Blake, Destiny, Kendra, Brandon and Hannah; and six great-grandkids. Services for Thurman Lee Stephens will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fitzhugh Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Adams will officiate. Thurman was born May 6, 1939, in Roff, to the late Albert and Bertha (Tywman) Stephens. He died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, in Clinton at the age of 76. Thurman and Bette Davis were married Sept. 9, 1960, in Roff. She preceded him in death Oct 16, 1997. After graduating from Roff High School in 1958, Thurman continued his education at East Central University. While at ECU, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he gave two years of service to his country during the early Vietnam era. He was stationed in Greece. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Thurman returned home and completed his bachelor?s degree at ECU. Throughout his life, he worked as a self-employed farmer/rancher, retiring in 1998. Thurman was very active with his children during their youth, as they showed cattle throughout the state. He was always the ?ringleader? in everything he participated and helped with. Thurman was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include one daughter, Terri Green and husband Larry of Ada; one son, Harold Stephens and wife Tammi of Atoka; one granddaughter, Timber Meadows and husband Trask of Tushka; one grandson, Ridge Stephens of Atoka; as well as a sister, Mary Cornell of Roff. Pat, as many called her, owned a daycare, and worked at a convenience store and at a glass plant in California. Pat loved the outdoors and her family. Her heart and home were open to any and everyone. Pat never met a stranger, only friends. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife and mother and also worked as a cook and sales clerk. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. He graduated from Okemah High School in 1962 and the University of Central Oklahoma in 1972. He and his family moved to Ada from Oklahoma City in 1976. He married Carol Ann Scates Sept. 27, 1963, in Ada. Johnny was a civil engineer and a longtime Oklahoma Department of Transportation employee. He started his career with ODOT in 1965 in traffic data. He later became a traffic engineer and retired as a maintenance engineer at division 3. He served faithfully until he retired in 1996. Johnny was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ada. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Hayden of Ada; two daughters, Shelly L. Mr. Lewis was employed at Hazel Atlas Glass Co. in his early working career. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1979, being honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He was a civil servant at Homstead Air Force Base and later at Tinker Air Force Base for 19 years. Kenneth Glen Hunt was born April 25, 1942, in Vanoss to Nettie and Ezra Hunt, the youngest of 12 children. He passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at his home in Ada. He attended grade school at Lightning Ridge and graduated from Vanoss High School. He was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked in the oil fields for many years before moving to Georgia and working as an electrician until he retired. He loved the outdoors and spent many mornings just sitting outside watching the sunrise and the humming birds. He loved hunting, fishing and all types of sports. He loved music and playing the guitar and was a talented carpenter. Since moving to Ada in 2011, he was a faithful supporter of Roff softball and basketball teams. He was an avid fan of both OU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball teams. In 1994 she was a secretary for the McAnnally and Banks Law Firm in Stillwater until she retired in 2004. Betty enjoyed flowers and gardening, music and dancing, reading and traveling with Marv. Lantz and wife of Dallas, Texas. In all, Gladys had 39 blood descendants, including four children, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Gladys spent her life caring for her large family while, at the same time, caring for her community. She and her late husband, Ted Pendergrass, operated a raw-milk dairy west of Ada, and afterwards, Gladys raised poodle and Yorkshire terrier puppies until she moved to Sherman. She was always busy working with the Rebekah Lodge, Retired Senior Volunteers, her church and her friends, with whom she loved to play bridge and dominoes. Gladys was the oldest of six siblings, Royal M. Cantrell, deceased; Elwanda Cantrell Hoyler of Duncan; Geoffrey D. Cantrell of Royce City, Texas; James M. Cantrell, deceased; Charles L. Mrs. Sliger passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 in Ada. She was born Oct. 8, 1917 at Gentry, Arkansas, to Samuel Lewis and Lydia Avis Whiteside Atkins. She graduated from Gentry High School in 1935. She attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, receiving a teaching certificate in 1936. She taught school at Black Jack and Pleasant Grove in Arkansas. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to work at a canning and ammunition factory for a short period during World War II. She went back to college at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville before marrying Thurman Homer Sliger May 29, 1944, in Pageland, South Carolina. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 2005. Dorothy was a homemaker and partner with her husband in their farming/ranching operation in the Vanoss community for 30 years. She also attended East Central University for several years during this time. After leaving the Vanoss cattle ranch, Dorothy and Homer owned and managed a motel in Kingston for a time, and were gatekeepers several summers for campgrounds on Oklahoma state parks. They also owned and operated a small farm in Durant and Idabel before returning to the Ada area in 1998. Mrs. Sliger was a member of the Homer Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Donald Lee Sliger, Idabel; Karen Gayle Sliger Colbert and husband Billy, Fort Worth, Texas; Judith Sliger Grisso and husband Gary, Oakman and Howard W. Elnora was well-liked everywhere she went and was involved in many community activities. She opened a beauty college in 1972 in Del City and ran her business until it burned down in 1983. She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Smith of Del City, Tammy Smith of Ada; three grandchildren, Dennis Smith, Crystal Turner, and Buddy Roper; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews so dear to her. He received basketball scholarships from Southeastern University and then East Central University where he played. Don served in the U. S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964. He married Joan Brannon on May 17, 1963, in Ada. Don was a surveyor for the U. S. Geological Survey where he mapped out islands in Lake Michigan and also surveyed for the Oklahoma State Highway Department. He surveyed the dam at Lake Eufaula when it was built and numerous highways and bridges in the state. In the later, 1960s, he was the ranch manager for Dr. Hall?s Arrowhead Ranch south of Ada. Don retired from Holcim Cement Plant as the Maintenance/Repair Supervisor in 1999 after 40 years of service. He served as the President and Secretary of the Local 114 Boilermakers Union for several years. He attended East Central State College after high school. Mr. Bratcher married Mary Ann Harber on his birthday in 1963. This was his greatest gift and one of the last things he said to her was, ?You?ll always be my sweetheart.? They were happily married for 52 years and celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Wintersmith Lodge with scores of family and friends. Mr. Bratcher retired from Curwood Inc. in Pauls Valley in 2000. Before being employed there, he was in retail management with T.G.&Y. Stores. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1963 to 1972, taking his basic training at Fort Ord, California. Mr. Bratcher was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and raised registered paint horses throughout his life. He was active in the American Paint Horse Association. He taught his grandchildren how to care for horses and competitively show them in county fairs. Aside from his family, Mr. Bratcher?s greatest love was Roff High School sports. He was an avid fan, traveling all over the state to watch his beloved Tigers play. He was known by many as ?Mr. Roff Baseball?. He rarely missed a game. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Leo Alvie Sims, age 93, left this earth for his eternal home in Heaven Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospital in Shawnee. Leo was born on Oct. 27, 1922, in Yeager to C.A. and Mattie Sims. He married Alyene Baker on Dec. 8, 1951, in Wewoka. He and Alyene have been members of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada for the last 50 years. In his 50-plus years of continuous service, he held many leadership roles including teaching and serving the congregation as an elder for 14 years. In addition, he was involved in the Prison Ministry at the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown, OK, and the Davis Correctional Center in Holdenville for a total of 13 years. In 1930, Leo and his family moved to Holdenville, OK where his father managed a grocery store for 38 years. Leo attended and graduated from Holdenville High School. He wrestled in 16 matches and won 13, lost two and tied one and in 1938, he won the District Championship. In high school, he wrestled and won more matches than any other wrestler in Holdenville school history and he received the Silver Cup Award. The Silver Cup remains in his home today as a memory of his athletic accomplishments. In 1941, he was selected by the coaches and teachers to share the Outstanding Athlete Award and was inducted into the Holdenville Hall of Fame. After graduating from high school in 1941, Leo worked for two years in Seattle, Washington at the Boeing Aircraft Plant. In April of 1944, Leo joined the United States Marine Corps. He served two years in the Marines and a total of 17 months of his two years were spent overseas. He served in the Marshall Islands, Okinawa, and IE Shima.He received two Battleship Stars and a Presidential Citation Award. Leo worked as both assistant manager and managers at Foodway Stores, Gibson?s, TG&Y, and Wal-Mart. He worked a total of 27 years at Wal-Mart and did not retire until 2013 at the age of 91. Overall, he spent a total of 59 years working in the retail industry. Leo?s greatest enjoyment was teaching others about Christ with Alyene, spending time with his family, and building gliders, swings, and birdhouses that can be found all over Ada. Survivors include two great-nieces and -nephews, Cathie Sales and husband John of El Reno and Marisa Moore and husband Kevin of El Reno; numerous great-great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-great-nieces and -nephews; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Burge of Ada. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Georgie, Ross and Frank Robinson; a sister, Leona Carpenter; a great-niece, Amy Hafley; a great-nephew, Jerry Hafley; and a sister-in-law, Bernadean Hutchings .
