Services for Lilian Shirley Nordean, 94, formerly of Konawa and Ada are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rollow Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Ada; the Rev. Charles Linton Nordean will officiate, assisted by the Rev. David L. Daniel. The burial preceded the service at East Hill Cemetery in Roff. Mrs. Nordean died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in Oklahoma City. She was born June 17, 1920, at Summitt, Arkansas, to Roy Cleveland and Mable Morrow Linton. She attended Yellville-Summitt schools and graduated from Yellville-Summit High School. She married Charles Leslie Nordean Nov. 2, 1941, in Yellville, Akansas. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1997, in Ada. She and her husband moved to Maud after their marriage. She graduated from East Central University in 1975 (after 17 years of night school), where she received a bachelor of arts degree in history and sociology. She completed an additional 15 hours towards a masters in psychology. Mrs. Nordean was employed with the Soil Conservation Service for 32 years. Mrs. Nordean was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Konawa Phila Vante Club, Valley View Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was a member of the Healthy Heart Club, the Pontotoc County Genealogy Society and the Ada Library Board. She was a member of bridge clubs and various card and domino groups and travel and garden clubs. Survivors include three sons, Capt. David L. Nordean, USN (Ret.) and wife Diana of Vienna, Virginia, Alan Nordean and wife Nalani of Bixby and Charles L. Nordean and wife Dee Ann of Guthrie; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Nordean of Sapulpa; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Adams of Ventura, California, and Helen Dardin, of Dalton, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, three brothers, her husband, a son, C. Russell Nordean and a grandson, Ross Alan Nordean. Patti met the love of her life, James A. West, while attending junior high in Ada, OK. Patti and James were married October 29, 1950 and spent a wonderful 55 years together until James? death in 2005. Patti was a P.E. teacher for Putnam City Schools in Oklahoma City until her daughter Lynne graduated from high school in 1973. During her retirement, Patti became actively involved as a Docent at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame for 25 years. Her granddaughter, Kelsey, loved spending time with Patti at the Hall and especially loved working with her ?Gram? at the Chuck Wagon Weekend, wearing the pink boots her grandparents gave her. Patti died peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Integris Hospice House. Memorial Services will be Saturday May 9 at 10 am at Guardian West Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, with Graveside service at 3pm, at Cedar Grove Cemetery near Ada, Oklahoma. Jimmy Martin, 73, of Kenefic died Friday, May 1, 2015. He was born in Kenefic June 13, 1941, the son of James and Ruby Lee Martin. He married Charlene Tucker Aug. 24, 1960. He received his bachelor?s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and his master?s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He began his teaching career of 42 years, teaching mathematics and science at Coleman. He then moved on to 17 years teaching mathematics at Durant High School and 22 years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He was a lifelong member of the Kenefic Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, Sunday school superintendent, treasurer and deacon. He is survived by his wife Charlene of the home; three children, Gina Nation and her husband Stephen of Cleora, Terri Thetford of Ada, and Jason Martin and his wife Mandy of Conway, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Cara Hobbs and her husband Daniel of Tulsa, Austin Nation of Cleora, Morgan Drannon and her husband Nick of Stratford, Kelsi Jones of Ada, and Jantz and Kason Martin of Conway, Arkansas; three brothers, Bill Martin of Durant, Wilburn and wife Pauletta of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Larry Martin of Kenefic; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was born Sept. 17, 1940, at Byars to Ralph and Iness Moody Beets. He attended Byars and Asher schools. Mr. Beets was a plant manager for a magnesium plant in Snyder, Texas, and later worked for J. P. Emco. He he was a truck driver and later, a greeter at Wal-Mart. He served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Lowe and husband Kevin and Catherine Beets, all of Ada; two sisters, Jane Eddlemon and husband Bill of Slaughterville and Barbara Beets of Stratford; a brother, Charles Beets and wife Mary of Skiatook; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of Ada First Free Will Baptist Church where she was the organist for 41 years and then became a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church where she participated in the praise band and was keyboardist and accordion player for 12 years. She and Douglas Roy Kindrick were married Nov. 10, 1960, at Ada. She graduated from Ada High School and received a bachelor of science degree from East Central University in 1995. She married Louis Drexel Unsell Dec. 5, 1964. He preceded her in death April 23, 2007. Mrs. Unsell worked in the shipping department at Brockway Glass Company until her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was a quilter. "JIM" GREEN ADA ? Services for James W. "Jim" Green, 81, of Ada are at 1 p.m. today at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Vickie Crooks will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Pauls Valley. Mr. Green died Saturday, May 2, 2015, in Ada. He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Pauls Valley to Gordon Miller ?Pete? and Virginia Longmire Green. He and his family moved in 1939 to Ada, where he attended Washington grade school and graduated from Ada High School in 1951. He was awarded his BA and LLB degrees by the University of Oklahoma in 1955 and 1960. At the University of Oklahoma, he was a member of the ROTC and rose to the rank of captain. He married Sandra Buchanan on Aug. 27, 1960, in Hobart. Mr. Green served on the staff of Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Joe B. Hunt as assistant life actuary from 1957 to 1961. He was director of the actuarial division and vice president of Old Security Life Insurance Company of Kansas City, Missouri, from 1961 to 1970. In 1970, he moved his family back to Ada. He served as vice president of the special marketing division of the Home Security Life Insurance Company in Pauls Valley. In 1973, he founded American Federal Savings and Loan Association in Ada, where he served as president and director. In 1989, he served as chairman of the Board of the Oklahoma League of Savings Institutions and as a director and vice chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka. He was a member of the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations and the Legislative Committee of the U.S. League of Savings Associations. He was actively involved in civic and community interests. He previously served as president of both the Kiwanis Club of Ada and the Ada Growth and Development Corp. He was a director of the Pontotoc County Area Authority and a former director of the Ada Chamber of Commerce. In 1992, he became a registered investment representative and opened an office in Ada for Stifel Nicolaus. In 1994, he became an investment representative for Edward Jones of Ada, retiring there in 1998. He was an active member of the First Christian Church and served as an elder, past moderator of the board and choir member. Survivors include his wife, Sandra of the home; son, John Green of Ada; daughter, Susan Green Cannon and husband Ron of Grand Prairie, Texas; brother, Gordon M. Green and his wife Janet of Oklahoma City; niece, Leslie Ives, Oklahoma City; nephew, Trey Green, Kalispell, Montana; and two grandnieces, Rachel McLemore and Lily Green. Mr. Bray was a carpenter who built and re-modeled many homes in the Ada area until his retirement. Cochran died Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Holdenville. He was born Aug. 22, 1950, in Stonewall to the Rev. Freddie Dewise Cochran, Sr. and Lola Bell Bruner Cochran. He attended Lula grade school and graduated from Tupelo High School. He attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and graduated from the American Baptist Theology Seminar in 1985. He later received a bachelor of science degree from East Texas Baptist University in 1986. He married Nancy Ann Hawley on Feb. 18, 1979, in Gladewater. Rev. Cochran was a maintenance mechanic for Targa (formerly Chevron) and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gladewater, where he was ordained a minister. He was currently serving as pastor of True Vine Baptist Church in Ada. Rev. Cochran served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; two sons, Christopher Hawley of Tyler, Texas and Bobby Joe Mays of Buna, Texas; two grandchildren whom he reared, Enchant? She was born at home in the small farming community of Ulan, Oklahoma, in 1926, the youngest of three siblings. Her parents, Alma and Presley Jones, founded the community in the early 1900s, traveling to Oklahoma from Mississippi by wagon. Her father was a farmer and teacher in the one-room school house, which also served as a church for traveling evangelists. Her mother opened and ran the post office in their general store, also tending to her older brother and sister, while minding the garden and livestock. Alba married Bob Huddleston Jr. in April before graduating in May 1943; and was the salutatorian of her Indianola high school class. She reared three children in McAlester and Ada, OK, and was a homemaker for 17 years until the marriage ended. She worked for a utility company and the Department of Human Services as a social worker. A woman of faith, she was very active in the Ada and First Baptist Churches, teaching, directing Sunday school departments, and participating in weekly community visitation. An avid reader, she held book club meetings in her home. She was known for her baking skills and shared those efforts with family and friends. She was a member of her local Kiwanis Club, serving as president; Beta Sigma Phi, (a social sorority); and the Daughters of the American Revolution, holding local and state offices. After her children were grown, she married Herbert Little and once again was able to do what she loved best ? be a homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hathcote and Tom of McAlester; Margaret Morris and Larry of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Stacey Morris of Oklahoma City, Scott Morris and Nicole of Norman, OK; Travis Hathcote of Guymon, OK; Aaron Huddleston and Cassie of Ada; and Lauren West and Brent of Ada. She was preceded by her parents; her siblings, Beatrice Ashmore and Leslie Paul Jones; her husband, Herbert Little and son, Edwin Huddleston. She was 101 years of age, a beloved mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who always thought of others before herself. She died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Olga was a retired seamstress who created sample dresses for the Jonathan Logan clothing line. She was an avid gardener and cook, considering it a compliment when most guests indulged in second helpings of her Hispanic cuisine. She loved the ballet and opera and was extremely proud when her goddaughter/niece, Rosa Biada de Cartaya, performed Bach?s Ave Maria a cappella for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. She is survived by a daughter, Dania Deschamps-Braly and her husband, George Braly, both attorneys in Ada; a grandson, Dr. Jordan Deschamps-Braly and wife, Maya Alex of San Francisco, Drs. Sylwester Ratowt and wife, Ryan Fogg, of Gainesville, Georgia and their daughter, Emerson; a niece, Nora Rojas, and her sons, Lenny and Rodney Rojas, of Clearwater, Florida. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, all of her many brothers and sisters as well as her husband, Manuel Deschamps, whom she married on Valentine?s Day 1942. The family is grateful to Father Billy Lewis of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church where Olga was a parishioner and to Father Ray Ackerman, a dear friend, who will be celebrating Mother?s funeral Mass, as well as to the Eucharistic Ministers who visited Mother and brought her Holy Communion every Sunday, and to all the many friends who visited with flowers and comfort. We are especially grateful to Rosanna Anderson, our friend and housekeeper, who provided Mother with love, compassion and care. A rosary service will take place in the chapel at Criswell Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Friday, with Deacon Dennis Fine officiating and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, Oklahoma, on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 7 p.m., Father Ray K. They had three children; Randy, Ken and Annette. On Aug. 18, 1978, he married Marjorie (Burgess) Hooker. They had two girls, Bridget and Dee Ann. He was a truck driver. Mr. Moore made his home in Ada for 22 years before moving to Wynnewood. The family remained in Wynnewood until November, 2013 when they moved to Durant. Mr. Moore became a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ada on Dec. 19, 1992, then went on to become a Shriner. Until his health began to fail, he volunteered much of his time to driving children and their parents to the different Shriner Hospitals. Sandra was raised by her adoptive mother, Eloise (Sue Bell) Weaver, but at 37, located her biological family and fostered a relationship with her mother prior to her death in 1998. Sandra, known as Mom, Weezer and Sandi to those who loved her, married Larry Joe Garrett in 1968. She loved him so much, she married him twice more. She and Larry had two handsome and intelligent sons. Sandi was a devoted mother to Larry and wife Sherri Garrett of Nashville, Tennessee, and Bryant and wife Dawn Garrett of Abilene. She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Garrett, Seth Easton Garrett, Sam Copple, Max Copple and great-grandmother to Harlequin Stapleton. Sandi was an avid golfer who instilled the love of the game in her boys. She played in many tournaments, often placing in the top three. Graduating from Odessa Permian High School of "Friday Night Lights" fame, she was loyal to her alma mater and followed Mojo football the rest of her life. Sandi helped Larry Garrett found West Artesia Oil in Cisco, Texas. Later she returned to school and obtained her bachelor's of applied science degree at McMurry University and then her master?s degree in gerontology from Abilene Christian University. Sandy was a member of the Chickasaw Nation (at large). Sandi?s life work was helping the addict who still suffers, and she spent countless hours in service work at various jails and other institutions, carrying a message of hope. He retired in 1978. He and his wife moved back to Ada, and he became a gentleman farmer for the next 30 years. Mr. Beller was a life-member of the Ada Masonic Lodge. Mr. Low retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 12, 1955, attending boot camp training at San Diego, California. He was in Navy aviation, stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in Trenton, New Jersey, serving for four years.
