Memorial services for Jack Jones, 82, of Ada will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Union Valley Baptist Church; the Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 8 p.m. tonight at Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Jones died June 1, 2015, at his home. He was born July 9, 1932, in Hereford, Texas, to Otis Alvin and Elsie Mae Pool Jones. He and his family moved to Ada in 1936 from Texas. He attended Glenwood Elementary and graduated from Ada High School. He also attended Bakersfield, California Jr. College. He married Patricia Ruth Hogan Dec. 17, 1978, at Stroud. Mr. Jones worked in sales for Halliburton for 22 years and for B. J. Services for 16 years. He was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church, the V. F. W. Post # 1119, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, the Ada Elks Lodge, Disabled American Veterans and the Combat Infantrymen?s Association. Mr. Jones served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War with the 45 Division, 180 Regiment from Sept. 1, 1950 ? June 24, 1952. Survivors include his wife, Pat Jones of the home; his children, Mike Jones and wife Paulette, Bambi Denton; Lisa Young and husband David and son Gary Brendle; all of Ada, six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pollock died Sunday, May 31, after a short illness. She was born Oct. 14, 1948, in Ada to James Williamson and Hazel Raper Williamson. She attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School. She married Monroe Atkeson in 1966. She later married Craig Pollock on May 6, 2013. Mrs. Pollock started her career at Sugg Clinic in 1970, working for Dr. E. M. Gullatt. She later was a surgical technician at Valley View Regional Hospital, retiring after 39 years of service. She retired from Medicine Chest Pharmacy after 26 years and was affiliated with the First Assembly of God church. She and Jimmie Yeager were married June 29, 1956, at Stigler. He died Dec. 29, 1995, at Ada. MILTON SIMMONS JR. MARTIN, Tennessee ? Services for Dr. Milton Delbert Simmons Jr., 87, of Martin, Tennessee, formerly of the Bowlegs and Ada area, are at 2 p.m. today at the Central Church of Christ; Bud Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Dr. Simmons died Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was born Oct. 27, 1927, near Bowlegs to Milton Delbert and Doris Tanneyhill Simmons. He graduated from Bowlegs High School and received a bachelor's degree from East Central University. He worked for the Counter Intelligence Corps in Stuttgart, Germany. He later received a master's degree from Oklahoma State University and a doctoral degree from the University of Oklahoma in psychology. He married Doris Cunningham December 17, 1950, in Ada. Dr. Simmons taught psychology at the University of Tennessee in Martin, Tennessee, for 30 years from 1966 - 1996. He was also the chairman of the psychology department and the vice chancellor of academic affairs. Dr. Simmons was a pulpit minister for the Church of Christ ,having served at churches in Ponca City, Rocky Ford, Colorado, and Ft. Collins, Colorado. He taught Sunday school at the Martin, Tennessee, Church of Christ. Dr. Simmons served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947. Services for Janet Marie Godwin Doss, 92, were held at Griffin Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore. Mrs. Doss was born in Lone Grove, Jan. 3, 1924, to Frank and Pauline Maddox. After graduating Lone Grove High School, she married Lenard Godwin in 1942. They moved to Richmond, California. They returned to Oklahoma and in the 1960s ran Valley Bowl in Pauls Valley. She married Ray Doss in 1984 and returned to Ada in 2013 where she lived until her death. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church at Pauls Valley and worked for the extension service in Garvin County for more than 20 years. She retired in 1991. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Charlie, Albert, Cecil, Joe and A.B., and two sisters, Mary and Inez. Also preceding her in death were her first husband Theron Godwin and second husband Ray Doss, a son, Dennis Godwin and daughter-in-law Sonia Godwin. In the mid 1950s, the couple purchased the Argonia Argosy. In 1959, they moved to Konawa and purchased the Konawa Leader. Over the years they published papers in Prague, Maud and Stratford. Mrs. Gallagher worked in the family business into her 80s. Mrs. Horne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Rotary Club and was active with the Boy Scouts of America, devoting more than 44 years of service to Scouting. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948, and married Freda Mae Wolf on Sept. 15, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas. Three sons were born to this union. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After his service, he worked in the oil and gas industry, and he and his family lived in Allen, Ada and Clearwater, Kansas. He retired in 1985 and moved to the Wagoner area. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virginia Walker, and sister Delores Pryor. Liz was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Francis, Oklahoma, to Horton V. and Jennie Smith. She was a long-time resident in the Francis-Cedar Grove, Oklahoma, community, and along with her husband, Reuben, was very active in community and church activities. Liz moved to Boerne, Texas, six years ago to be near her brother Jim and his family. She regretfully left her beloved Oklahoma after her health began to be an issue. Liz was preceded in death by her father, Horton V., and mother, Jennie. She was also predeceased by her brother Horton V. Mary?s husband, Reuben, passed away in March of 1990. Liz lived a very active life with husband Reuben as they moved about the U.S.A. during Reuben?s military service. Colonel Chandler served his country as an accomplished pilot and distinguished officer in war and peace. He served as a bomber pilot in Europe in the Second World War and was recalled by the Air Force to serve during the Cold War. While Reuben was overseas, Liz worked in a military aircraft production plant in Tulsa during the Second World War. Liz and Reuben lived in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Alaska and Oklahoma during his military career. Upon Reuben?s retirement, he and Liz moved to the family farm where he was raised. They became farmers, raising cattle and the crops needed to feed the herd. They farmed until Reuben?s death in 1990.
