He was born July 17, 1949 ,in Manzanola, Colorado, to the late Oley Garrett and Emmaline Reynolds Garrett. He was raised in Manzanola and later moved to Oklahoma City, Ada, and Little City before settling in Nida. David worked for Western Crude, Getty and Texaco before owning and operating D.E. Garrett Trucking since 1999. He joined the Creek Moore Masonic Lodge #74 in Madill in 1983, and he was a member of the Hermliegh Lodge #987 in Synder, Texas. He married Cynthia (Terrell) Garrett on May 12, 1986, in Gainesville, Texas. David enjoyed feeding the cows, bailing hay, taking care of his family and doing the only thing he has ever known — driving a truck. David is survived by his wife, Cynthia Garrett, of Nida; two sons, Tommy Garrett and wife, Lisa, of Stonewall and Dusty Garrett of Nida; and two grandchildren, Shelby and Lane Garrett. David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Garrett; a niece and a nephew. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Watts Funeral Home in Madill. The Revs. David Daniel and Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Oxford passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, in Denison, Texas. She was born July 17, 1928, in Elmore City to Ira and Eureka Thornton Welch. She graduated from Elmore City High School in 1946 and received a bachelor's and master's degree from East Central University. She married John Oxford Dec. 26, 1948, in Ada. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2002. Mrs. Oxford taught at Hayes Elementary School and the First United Methodist Church Pre-school. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Fellowship Sunday school class, the history department of the Tanti study club and the Wednesday morning music club. He was born Aug. 1, 1931, at Wynnewood to Oliver Frank and Ollie Mary Nix Conway. He attended Dickson schools and graduated from Dickson High School in 1949. He attended Southeastern State University. Mr. Conway moved to Ada from Tishomingo in 1971. He married Alma Jo Ramsey Aug. 21, 1950. She preceded him in death Oct. 17, 2004. He later married Voncille Mitchell Mcgehee on Sept. 25, 2010. Mr. Conway was the Director of the Physical Plant at East Central University from 1972 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Voncille of the home; daughter, Vicki Harbert and her husband, Luther, of Tishomingo; a son, Jim Conway Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Norman; one brother, Bill Conway of Shawnee; four sisters, Mertie McKee of Farmers Branch, Texas, Sharion Cooper of Bethany, Peggy Luckett of Guthrie and Martha Musgrove of Moore; his grandchildren, Jennifer Self and husband, Byron, and their children, Kenna and Blakelyn Self; Jeff Harbert and wife, Krystle, and their children, Cobyn and Cruz Harbert; Jamie and Lindsey Conway; John Luther and Katy Conway; and Ramsey Walcher and husband, Daniel, and their son, Carter. He was born April 13, 1926, in Coal County to Archie and Maggie (McKinney) Cogburn. Clark married Jewel Francis Hunter on May 6, 1944. Clark was a farmer and rancher. Clark also worked many places, the Cotton Gin, Keith's Feed and Seed, C and C Construction, Brawleys Ranch, commercial hay baling, Centrahoma School bus driver and rental property. Clark was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ of Ada. He loved to deer hunt. One of his loves of life was the bluegrass music festival concerts that he enjoyed for 50 years. He married the love of his life, Susan Diann Haney on Halloween 1988. They were happily married for over 26 years, and as passionate as the day they met. Jimmy was a salesman for Overhead Door for over 30 years, and served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He was a proud and loving father to his two children. Mrs. Gray passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Georgetown, Texas. She was born March 26, 1934, in Ada to Rixie H. and Nola Wood Suit. She lived in the Stratford area most of her life. She married Baxter Gray. He preceded her in death in 2008. Mrs. Gray farmed and ranched with her husband and also had a real estate license. She retired as the executive secretary of the Oklahoma State School in Pauls Valley. Mrs. Gray loved crocheting, reading romance novels, playing dominoes, shorthand, daisies and Chardonnay wine. The Rev. David Daniel will officiate. Ms. Gerlach passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at a local hospital. She was born April 22, 1930, in Wayne, Michigan, to Grant Shirley and Mary Lowell Allison. Ms. Gerlach was employed at K-Mart in Ada in the jewelry department and the layaway department until her retirement. She was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Ada. Ms. Gerlach was a volunteer in the gift shop at Valley View Regional Hospital and Clark Home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Healthy Heart Club for many years and especially enjoyed performing line dance routines at various community functions, including the Pontotoc County Fair. She also belonged to the 1930s Pen Pal Club for over 20 years. Ginny enjoyed arts and crafts and excelled in many areas including quilting, crocheting, embroidering, painting, designing and decorating shirts and jackets, making greeting cards and writing poetry and short stories. He was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Ada, the son of Elvin Burge and Bernice (Stockton) Burge. He married Oma Myrtle Burge on Aug. 3, 1952, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She preceded him in death March 8, 2015. Al was a member of the United Methodist Church in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and the Medicine Lodge Golf Association. He battled over 5 years of Pulmonary Fibrosis & Cardiac disease. ?He was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Corona, New Mexico, to the late John Henry (Harry) Leddy, who was born Sept. 5, 1867, and Eva N. Albert Leddy, born Nov. 4, 1891.?Mr. Leddy began his education in Johns Valley in a one room log school house, moving from there to Antlers for his remaining elementary and secondary education. He played on the Antlers High School basketball and football teams. ?With patriotism he left high school at 17 and volunteered for the U.S. Merchant Marines in from September 1945 to September 1951. During this time, he served primarily in the engineering department aboard liberty, tanker and cargo ships. He served aboard at least 10 ships. ?On April 20, 1951, this merchant marine made the catch of his life when he married East Central College student Bettie Cordelia Jo (Delia) Taylor (born Feb. 26, 1931) at the Central Church of Christ in Ada. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her death on October 2, 2012. ?On March 19, 1952 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Upon completion of boot camp in San Diego, California, he was selected to the honor platoon. He was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, to complete Airman A and P School and was then transferred to Memphis Naval Air Station, Millington, Tennessee, for Aircraft mechanic AM (A) school. Lance Corporal Leddy was offered the promotion to sergeant, but upon his wife's encouragement, he left active duty to continue his education and start his family. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve until March 18, 1960.?Beginning his civilian life he worked at WHBQ - TV in Memphis, Tennessee, as a broadcasting engineer. Both of his children were born in Memphis. While working full time he earned his high school general equivalency degree and went on to earn his bachelor of science degree in industrial arts from Memphis State University. ?He moved the family from Memphis to Cookeville, Tennessee, in September 1968 upon accepting a job as Instructor in the College of Engineering at Tennessee Technological University. In 1972, he completed his master of arts in teaching with a major in Industrial technology, (cum laude) from Middle Tennessee State University and was promoted to assistant professor in industrial technology at TTU. After 27 years of teaching he retired (professor emeritus) in 1994. For many years Glenn and Delia Leddy attended most Tennessee Tech University home basketball and football games. In addition to his family and military service, Mr. Leddy considered his greatest contribution in life to be preparing young people for the future in industrial engineering fields. ?Mr. Leddy had many areas of interest. Lorene's family lived around the Maud area, where she graduated from Central High School in May 1941. After high school, she married Elda Marion "Boots" Robertson on Nov. 6, 1942, in Bowlegs. Their only child, Elda Dean Robertson was born on Jan. 14, 1947, in Seminole. Lorene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada for 29 years. She enjoyed singing in the church Choir. When she moved to Bartlesville, she joined First Baptist Church in Bartlesville. She graduated as a cosmetology instructor and taught for 14 years at Lela's Beauty College in Ada. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for 17 years in Ada. In 1963, she closed her shop to care for her parents who were sick with cancer. She reopened her shop in 1990 and operated for 13 more years before retiring in 2003 to move to Tulsa to be near her son, Dean. In Tulsa she produced many beautiful works through the blankets she crocheted for hospice patients. On average, she completed two to four blankets a month for Grace Hospice of Oklahoma. Lorene spent a great deal of time sewing, quilting, embroidering and crafting for Grace Hospice and her family. She kept herself busy making beautiful quilts for everyone in the family. In Bartlesville she volunteered for ElderCare. She loved flowers and always had beautiful plants in her home. During World War II, she worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City on an assembly line configuring the contour of a pilot door. She also worked for Wrangler jean factory as an inspector in Wewoka in 1956. Lorene is survived by her only son Dean Robertson and wife, Beverly, of Dewey; one granddaughter, Ashley Deane White and husband, DeJay; one great-granddaughter, Zoe Alexis McCabe; one step-granddaughter, Jonna Reynolds; and two step-great-grandkids, Keelie and Spencer White. She also leaves behind one sister, Juanita Burk and nephew, Johnny Ashbrook of West Monroe, Louisiana; a loving niece, Linda Crews and husband, Fred, of Bowlegs; and nephew John Burk and wife, Debbie, of Beaumont, Texas; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fon Mathis on Feb. 10, 1968, and Mollie Bell Mathis on Feb. 10, 1987; and brother J.C.
